Saw them in Bangor, Maine in the summer of 1977. They opened for Starz and the headliners, Uriah Heep. The Dictators ruled that night! Loud, raw and HEAVY! Ross The Boss was cranked way up and dominated the sound which I thought was great. Manitoba was lewd, crude and rude as always. "The Next Big Thing" was heavy as fuck! I'm glad I got to see them in their heyday. Great memories.
Just watched the movie "Summer of Sam" last night. Made me think of this.
I heard CBGB's got closed down a few years back. I've never even been to New York but it seem a shame, the place was famous worldwide and represented a whole era of rock music.
Oh, and a young Ross the Boss there too, a keeper of the rock faith. Great stuff ..
First band I ever saw as they were the warm up act to the Stranglers.... Top Rank, Southampton 31st October 1977.
I was 15 got drunk missed the train home, wow what a night, Handsome Dick being crude to the English and the Hells Angel bouncers. Awesome followed up by the Stranglers and the best ever bass player.. I'm right
i would easily go to a show of theirs, though i didnt think they were up to playing any shows recently.
two tub man is one of the best songs to come out of the 70's punk scene next to richard hells blank generation and of course search and destroy by the stooges
yeah i would totally go see em. though i dont think they are playing too much as of recently?
they are easily one of the best bands to come out of the 70's punk scene. and Two Tub Man is one of the best songs to arise from that scene along with Blank Generation by the Voidoids and of course Search and Destroy by the stooges
Groovy fros. Looks like the Hair Bear Bunch or something.

Ahh , the 70's tube socks, cutoff denim hot pants, tanktops & jewfros. Who cares , The Dictators could rock in cardigans & flatops.

I haven't seen a mismatching video-to-sound track this far off since the Monkees, but the Dictators still rock.
