  • Bloody genius

  • I keep covering this!! & now with his verbal permission too!

    ~ jhg

  • Love Hysteria is a Gem!!!

  • The first time I ever heard this song, I was on my way home from Daytona Intl. Speedway in 1999 after working the ARCA race for the #66 Midway Islands team, going back to Tampa in a convertible Mustang. One minute I was doing 55, the next I was doing 130, cruising through the swamplands. There aren't too many songs that have ever had that type of an impact on me.

  • Great story!!!

  • Grande música! :-)

  • Simply amazing

  • julet has found her romeo, very happy for you,you rock:)

  • I Love it I Love it

  • Dumb people in this world makes the rest of us look better..I love Peter Murphy..Can't wait to see him in 3 days..

  • true that. i'm seeing him on friday.

  • To label this the biggest slab of musical garbage that youve ever heard indicates to me that your exposure to musical garbage is quite limited and I suggest that you listen to some (not all) of the 80s hair metal or some of the late 70s disco. You are sure to find something that will actually make your ears bleed and elevate Peter Murphy to a higher level in your eyes which I am sure will allow him to continue living and no longer feel the need to slit his own wrists from your disapproval.

  • To say that peter murphy has no talent is like saying that mozart was a dumb retard that just pushed random keys on the piano. And dont even try to assume I'm "goth" or any of that bullshit, and then tell me to cut myself. You need to be more open minded. Ted Nugent was a pop hit dickface, Peter Murphy knew what the fuck he was doing and what he was talking about. By the way you're dumb 'cause this isnt gothic music, its his solo shit. Listen to Stigmata Martyr by his band Bauhaus.

  • yes but what about the message embedded

  • what message?

  • Comment removed

  • jealous.

  • (L) :)

  • Oh, for GAWDS sakes...does it matter???? Whichever GOD Peter chooses to worship is his own business. Is it not GOTH enough for you? Piss off kiddies...

  • For the father of GOTH it should be.What the hell do you know, what were you 7 when Bauhaus was making great music. Now who was the kiddie?

  • I was pretty disappointed to learn that Peter Murphy converted to Islam in the 90's.I grew up Catholic like Peter Murphy,John Foxx and other great musician.I don't get why in the hell he would convert to a Muslim.

  • I am often mistaken for Peter Murphy when I take the train into washington D.C.

  • People always tell me I sing just like Peter but I look like Gary Busey

  • LG, How droll, you devil!

  • One of THE BEST songs of ALL TIME!!.. :)

  • thanx for this

this song has helped my writing skill and find myself as a whole in the art world

is there a viedo on this song

  • Speller, Nada, non, niente, nyet. As they say in Russia, "toughski'. Would think his record company would get Peter to pull together old film, dates, or abstract video or art work, say sculpture by Mick Karn, Bassist extroadinaire, partner in Dalis Car. nota bene: no apostrophe. Pronounced Dallis Karr if I heard a'wright when it came out. I don't think PM cares about visuals at this point when he is all over YT live.

  • saw NIN open up for peter murphy in 88 talk about a double bill

  • i bet there was some smoking hot babes at that show

  • I saw them too. Got to meet Peter as well as Trent that night. What an amazing memory.

  • Actually, Pretty Hate Machine wasn't released until 89, so the tour was in 90.

  • Love Hysteria is one of the best albums ever written by Peter. It will go down in history as the most romantic and haunting pieces of music created in that genre. Can you not just feel the mysticysim and the allure? Listen to his soul and realize that he has just got it all, vision, passion, character, and the best baritone voice on the planet...

  • Agreed--Love Hysteria is brilliant--lush, ethereal, richly textured.

  • Should the world fall apart , Deep & Cascade are excellent as well

  • Please view all my favorite and video and see how much I know. Imagine. Thank me later. Universe technique

  • indigo eyes=black eyes that cannot see in front of him, with ears that cannot hear the angels--DEAD!

  • Okay, I saw Peter Murphy in concert. He asked if anyone had questions, and I asked him what this song was about. He told me that it was about a man who sought guidance from the divine, but did not find it. Then the man realized that he needed to get through his problems on his own, and only then did he find guidance from god, the otherworldly, etc. That was one of the most magical moments of my life, when he talked to me.

  • Cool.

  • Only problem with this is Peter is now a Muslim.I wonder if the god he was talking about is Allah.I was SO dissappointed to learn he converted to Islam.

  • I used to be a Satinist, but I've since converted to Muslin.

  • seriously Peter Murphy went all allah on our asses?

what a turd. That's disappointing. Always hate to hear when rockers flake out to evangelism or the lie of group salvation.

    what a sucker he is.

  • I'm sorry but it's none of your business what religion he is or any person, for that matter. Not everyone thinks like you do and if someone is happy with what they choose to believe I don't understand why would you even care about something like that! If people would mind their own lives and leave others alone this world would be a better place.

  • AMEN to that! Religion is the number one reason there's so much goddamn strife in this world.

  • Oh, get over YOURSELF! Who gives a rat's ass what he believes? I suppose you think he's going to hell now? I used to be a Catholic... but I gave it up for Lent and never took it back again. Who gives a fuck?

  • Drummergrrl in a muslim country your ass wouldn't be able to play drums.

  • Hmmm. Well, as I live in Atlanta, GA, I'm sure that won't come up anytime soon. What the hell is your point?

  • Really? I'd love to know where did you get that information. If you're going to criticize a religion at least have some knowledge. Religious extremists don't count. Or all catholics do witch burning?! Anyways, the point IS we have the right to choose our religion and no religion is better than other, it's what make us happy.

  • Wow, wasn't that 500+ years ago when that happened.Islamic women bascially have no right and can't even walk beside there man.Why do you think that Muslim women can't wear regular clothes and always have to wear scarfs on there heads.Basically they are living now like they lived then.

  • I talked about "witch-burning" to imply the lack of knowledge someone can have about a religion, like yourself. What you read on the news it's not what happens all the time. It was an example how someone can think of a religion for the bad some of followers did or do. Muslim women can wear regular clothes, it's their choice! Some muslim women rather wear a scarf, if they feel good about it what's your problem for them to wear it?

  • Peter now lives in Turkey with his muslim wife and I'm sure he's very happy with the choice he made (and walk beside her, because unlike you said, they can). Just enjoy the wonderful music he gave to us, every religion is different but all with the same objective.

  • @SSJ2D2 Wow, thank you so much for posting that. I was just wondering what this song is about. I've been reading how Peter Murphy became Muslim through his attraction to Sufism (Islamic mysticism), and now I can see a thread of metaphysical thought in his songs.

  • @SSJ2D2 Thank you for sharing that,im very moved...thanks

  • I thoroughly enjoy singing along with Peter.

  • If your into Pete check out Love & Rockets new gig at Coachella 2 weeks ago..Amazing.

I'm going in August to see them in Chicago..Old Bauhaus guy's

  • i remember when i heard this song, i was in berkeley, pregnant with my youngest daughter summer of 89. an awesome time, very happy to hear this song!

  • such a good fuckin song man

  • This song was airplayed in Philippines in 1998 in BM105. Reminds me of my freshman college year in PUC. Bittersweet years. Sung it always then while walking the path from Sampaguita hall.

  • What do you mean ...Phiippines ????

  • how do i register to make the video play?

  • ROFL

  • ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

  • that's because Peter never made a video for this sound ??

  • No...Whoever posted this song used trial converter software to convert an mp3 into a video format so they could post it on youtube, which is why the screen says "please register". Florrie wants to know how to register so she can see the video. LMAO

  • HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAH!

  • bless you for putting this song back into my head!!!!

  • OH! 1989 High school Lord! memories.

  • indigooooooooooooooooooooo eyessssss

    fabulosa cancion

  • Yes it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song reminds me of the flight line at Misawa AB , Japan, in 1989. I was 18 years old then. the visions and memmories this song conjours are so overwehlming. love you, whom ever you are that posted the music.

  • Sheer genius.

If there was a negative to any of Peter's songs, it would be that they are much too short. This song could go on for another 10 minutes of Peter and his band playing and it would not get old.

  • Wish there were a vid for "Dragnet Drag." Also "Crystal Wrists".

  • thank God somebody finally put some Peter Murphy out there! I haven't heard Indigo Eyes in forever! Thank you,you rock!

  • Gracias Peter Murphy

  • I will forever love Peter Murphy and his music. I have been thru so much in life and this song carried me deep into myself. It introduced me to the sublime...ahh those cross-sensual hours spent in the mirror...looking deep into blackened eyes...searching. As if Peter was me...what I had always imagined myself to be.

  • The song is my never ending forever love. Mindoro and my wife peace in my life I will never forget the happiness.

  • Last time I heard this song is in 1989 at BM105 on a cold December night on a quiet place ovelooking the lights of Sta. Rosa and Cabuyao. That was the end of the New Wave era.

  • There is only one thing wrong with this song-no video! I love Peter Murphy and this one is just incredible!!!!

  • yeah,a great pop song w/feeling...remember everything I did at the time of this song

  • oh how i love this song,i wish there was a video for it..

  • Awesome Peter Murphy...It´s the best single.

  • excelente

  • Just... Brilliant!!!

  • This is random - but does anyone know what this song is about?

  • One of the many beautiful things about Peter Murphy is that whenever he is asked about the meaning of his songs, he replies that the meaning of it lies within whoever is listening to it. Whatever his words and music invoke in you is what it means....

  • Ah, it's truly an enigmatic beautiful song. I miss singers/musicians from the 70s/80s who wrote actual poetry set to modern music. Peter Murphy is a true poet.

  • classic

  • I love this man's lyrics - Pure genius!!!

Is there anyone who has his newest piece, "Idle Flow" that they can put up???

  • A little surprised there was no official video for this song. It's such a classic.

  • Thanks for put this song here on youtube.

  • My favourite from Peter Murphy! Lush and brilliant in every way! Has anyone seen a video to it?

  • Sounds great. One of Murphy's great melodic tunes that was not released as a single and got rare airplay.

I saw him play it with a full band(The Hundred Men) and it was mindblowing. Eddie Branch owns that walikng bassline. Murph strummed a 12-string. After "Funtime", he came back and did a note-for-note cover of "Purple Rain". Love Hysteria tour, '88.

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I love this song. Thank you for posting.
