you are very sorely mistaken if you think that a leg cant be hard to mimic realistically. if you want your robot to manuever like the geeky dance named for its primitive movements (do the robot!) then ya...but if you want it to walk like a human, so many thousands of factors come in to play...it is EXTREMELY difficult to mimic accurately.

The BigDog is not efficient. It wastes enegry by generating motor noise and heat. It consumes so much gasoline that you'd need to people to carry the supplies for it, making it unusable under normal conditions. A donkey is far better than that BigDog in both: efficiency and effectiveness. And a donkey has no software-problems.
