I just noticed something. This video was taken not too long after KHOU dropped the "Viper" name for their radar in favor of "HD Doppler." Now, look at the name of KPRC's radar, "Viper."
There's clearly no innovation at KPRC. They just seem to be copy cats, and doing a poor job of it.
They call the weather center SEVERE WEATHER CENTER so your first reaction is panic. Domnck SUXA has the deer- in the headlights panic look. They try to get you all freeked out over nothing. It is annoying!! They are desperate for ratings..
Well, if KPRC's company, Post-Newsweek buys the stations, they should get better, in fact, KPRC's 2 logo with the star resembles another NBC O&O/LIN TV, KXAS 5 Dallas. They had the star logo since 1974. KPRC had theirs since 1995. Another thing, KPRC does not offer NBC Weather Plus unlike KXAS.
Actually, KPRC has had Weather Plus since it was launched a few years back.
Local ownership would be the best alternative, if feasible. The station excelled during it's years under the control of The Channel 2 Television Co. and H&C Communications.
HoustonNews, so Wendy Corona as of 2010 is still without a gig in the Houston area, it's a damn shame KPRC let her go after only 3 years.

Left Houston in '02 - glad to see some things never change - KPRC still sucks.

Vipir is a Post-Newsweek thing. They have it at KSAT and WKMG.
KPRC's graphics sucketh big time. No innovation and aggressive news coverage.

NBC really should buy KPRC, therefore the station can become owned and operated by NBC. :) It would hurt them.

I agree, KPRC comes off as very cheap and unprofessional. It doesn't help that they have maybe one reporter/newsanchor with any gravitas.
