  • The whole band looks a lot shorter and fatter than I remember... Thank you for the post lovesheart. Please try to get the aspect ratio right in the future.

  • @PrimitiveChrome Really, interesting.I was happy to see it load when I posted it.

  • who hates this My god!!

  • whos says they suck?

Heart are one of a few bands that are real people playing honest music. Most others succumb to fame and fortune.

  • Greatest gypsies in da world! Roger Fisher and Ann were the bomb! sexy...

  • WOW I would love to have Howies Tele LOL. Such an awesome band, I don't get how people say they suck.

  • did the drummer just step outta the shower?

  • I was there also. age 16 first acid trip. up at the gate at midnight then the mad rush ,when the gate broke down. There is something strange about running about quartermile in the dark. heart aerosmith and Ted were great.

  • @kewlmeximan That's wild,I can just picture it,quite surreal I'm sure!

  • i saw frank marino in baltimore i had a chance to ask him ifthis jam will ever be released, and he said mostlikly never !! hez been battling lawyers for yrs about his part in the concert but he stopd trying to fight them on it back in 1990. he even said its no wonder people bottleg there shows so much..not always to sell but to hang with afew friends and watch the show and ENJOY!! ITS MUSIC

  • I wish this whole concert was remastered from the original two tack masters and available on CD and iTunes.

  • They really rocked back then, when I was a kid, they came to Wilmington, NC in the late 70's, or 1980? I think it was.

  • If you look very closely, you can just make out Ann and Nancy's angel wings...well, I can anyway...

  • That woman has soul.

  • Honestly, When I was at this jam, and this was the last or second to the last to Abba, in the days agenda, I do not remember it being that light out still, Tammy Your Royal Countess Of Samoa. SMILE

  • BEHOLD !!!!!!!!!! A classic is playing before you.

  • The two best women in ROCK!!!!! Always have and always will be..

  • xxxxxxx again! Brilliance!

  • There is so much old live concert footage of Heart why the hell don't they put it all on DVD and sell it to their fans? I don't get it.

  • @Susanp34 Probably because of all different owners I would guess. That would be great though!

  • I was at this concert! (Even got the T-shirt). A mere babe of 16 and Heart was of one of the bands I was really looking forward to seeing. They didn't disappoint. However, the facility was HORRIBLE. The promoters were not prepared for the huge crowd and people couldn't get to the few bathrooms and were basically relieving themselves where ever they could. Plus, if you were near the stage, like me, that meant you couldn't get to the concessions either. Aerosmith was good, too.

  • @DeAnn21 Most interesting comment I have ever heard about Cali,Cheers DeAnn!

  • @DeAnn21 OH you LUCKY DOG!!!!

  • @DeAnn21 I remember the lines for the port-a-potties, there were nowhere near enough for the crowd! Many gave up and went wherever. Same lines for the concessions. Music made up for everything though!

  • back when songs were good enough to want to hear them for 10 minutes!

  • @TheStickynoodle Yes. : )

  • always impressive - voices as soulful as Ann's don't come along often

  • How is it possible that there is no young talent like this today?

  • @1971SuperLead I'm sure there is ..just not the same market today..their all now small fish in a very big pond!

  • @lovesheart

You are exactly right. There IS talent like this out there, but usually found on the Indie scene. I saw Nicole Atkins and the Black Sea open up for Booker T Jones and the Black Keys and she was amazing and had a female guitar player that could shred!

  • @1971SuperLead - Because today's kids, don't care for it. They want the "shit" that's out there today. It's their *^#^#& loss!!

  • @1971SuperLead Rap killed talent and then Justin Beiber was born. LOL

  • @1971SuperLead It's quite simple...today's generation grew up during Grunge, and Rap and hip-hop...three popular styles of music that celebrated 1) poor musical ability, 2) no harmony and 3) a desire to avoid excellence on one's instrument...so this generation is the current swarm from which today's music is drawn from...idiot's like Eminem are considered "artists" and they don't play an instrument or have anything musical to say because they never tried...

  • ann is hot here. nancy looks the same today for some strange reason. sounds great. ; 0

  • Great video.. I was there too and the whole concert was awesome!

  • I wish I could've been there to see this. This song sounded better live here than on their album of the same name. I was a freshman in high school during this time, but some guy in my class came in one day and was wearing a t-shirt that said Cal Jam 2 on it, and had a list of all the bands that were there on the back of his shirt. I was jealous that this guy was able to attended this event when I didn't. At least I saw some of this concert on TV, not the same, but better than nothing.

  • i was right there in front for this one and i have to agree!

  • great vid!!!!! seen them at San Fransisco Cow Palace 1978 Charlie Daniels open up for them,,, AWESOME AWESOME SHOW!!!!!!!!!

  • Classic! Ann is smokin'!! Nancy, well, need I say more? Thanks for posting!

  • @kneapoe51 Right on,and your welcome.

  • I "heart" HEART.

  • You know how good a band is when they sound this great live. This extended live version of "Little Queen" is awesome! Heart still rocks--looking forward to seeing them again this summer.

  • It is so hard to believe how 2 sisters can be so lovely and so incredibly talented. Their voices blend so perfectly. I agree with a comment someone made in another Heart video. That person wrote that Nancy Wilson is sooooo underrated. True or not I've always loved them both. Sing Long and Prosper, sisters!

  • What A Sound!!

  • I love me some Heart. DAMN they're good.

  • @Roolek A big Hell yeah!

  • Lord thank you for puttin' me in the 70's in my prime.

  • @rubbersole79 and for me,thank you Lord for letting me see the best as a 70's teen! ; )

  • uh, WOW!

  • Was there me and some friends hitchhiked from Santa Ana,CA Good Show

  • @alexis9161 Ahh,to be a teen again,with todays knowledge!

  • @lovesheart Isn't that the truth? And time to waste with no resposibilities. Shows back in the day didn't cost a lot. Looking at old ticket stubs for 7 or 8 bucks in '78-79. That was sweet!!!

  • All right.. Who fucked up at 1:47...lol

  • @partypianoplayer Not positive, but looks like the guitar player closest to the camera, with the Telecaster. Nice recovery though!

  • I believe it was televised.

  • Damn, what kind of cameras were they runnin' for this show! They obviously went all out. Which is of course quite the blessing for all us Heart fans.

  • This band was so god damn good in the 1970's. Unbelievable. Too bad love fucked the whole thing up.

  • @quintbromley Or lack of. : (

  • This is so FUCKEN AWESOME!!

  • AMO A ANN WILSON ELLA ES PRECIOSA, EN LOS 70'S Y 80'S ERA LA MUJER MAS HERMOSA SOBRE LA TIERRA, HOY ES UNA MUJER MAYOR MUY BONITA

  • sumpthin about the ladies jammin'....the intro segment to this tune builds anticipation. gives an Ozzy-like emotion. and Ann was my sole reason for watching Heart jam. the yrs change things. but long live the stage show. millsie

  • im 25 and i can see this is awesome.... wish music was made like this today!

  • I wish I could've been alive at that time so I could've seen it live!!!

  • @27hammy90 I saw them before this on tour #1 DREAMBOAT ANNIE...I melted! : )

  • WOW Haven't seen this in OVER 30 years! Thanks for the upload! I remember seeing this late night on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert or Midnight Special! Damn. I'm OLD!

  • @Thunderfingers999 Aww,its just a number,I am a 49 year young teenager! : )

  • @lovesheart 42 year old teenager here!

  • @Thunderfingers999 "Our Generation" The years go by but our music stays fresh as the day we first heard it.

Sometimes the original bands get better with Age like Ann & Nancy Wilson. Praise the Lord for Musicians and Singers like this. Our music will never die! Thank You. Sir David

  • @sixtiesforever1966 Yes it most certainly duz,Praise the Lord for all the Angelic souls that feed our souls daily, this band was something special.

  • @lovesheart yeah even though i was so high on acid i was so amazed at how pretty she was through those binoculars, that i will never forget.

  • @dillinger9999 Yup,she stole this teenage boys Heart! : D

  • When Heart came on I was so High on Acid and there was this couple who had binoculars and i got to use see her sing it was so cool.

  • That was beyond awesome. I need to find the double LP of this concert - now!

  • I'd still be playing this kind of stuff, but the few record companies that are still around won't have it. It's ALL about the rap now...

  • If I could be transported to this time, I'd be screaming my face off in the crowd.

    Where is everyone?!

  • I am reincarnated when I listen to Ann and Nancy. :)

  • GOD DAMN ANN IS FUCKIN HOT !

  • Back when women sang without all the R&B warbly inflection crap. Just good solid vocals.

  • @rubbersole79 I agree ..I can't stand that pitch correction crap.

  • @rubbersole79 I thought I was the only person that hated that. Anymore, most people think warbly=talent.

  • @rubbersole79 If you listen close you can hear R&B inflections of that period . R&B and soul of the same period didnt have that warbly sound it was gritty and greesy. Think stax record.

  • I have always said, from day one, that the earth has never seen a more beautiful human being than Nancy Wilson. I can't pry my eyes off her.

  • @5jerry1 Except for Ann, you're right.

  • The guy i work for said he was at this show.

  • Makes me nostalgic for a time I never have and never will experience...

  • Thank you for sharing! This is awesome!

  • Great stuff.!!1 The few "pop tarts" of today that can actually sing like Christina Aguillera and Hayley Williams need to be locked in a room with video of Heart live performances from 76-80 era playing on a huge TV screen for like 2 weeks until they either learn how it should be done or die in the process. Throw in some Janis while you are at it.

  • @jmforge What a GREAT idea!!! I grew up going to concerts such as Styx, Kiss, Queen, Heart, Reo, Journey, And the list goes on.... I remember $75.00 covering tickets, concert shirt, and a bag! Now its pathetic...

Heart just announced a tour but its in Canada and i don't know of any U S dates yet, but i WILL be going to a show. Shoot some D N A into these "pop tarts" and shock collars and they might get a clue!

  • They already made their way easily into my heart as my favorite band, but they still are able to awe me the more I see. I <3 how they changed up the song. This is the first I'm seeing this exact look of the sisters and of course it's amazing. I LUV 2:22 when Nancy smiles back at Ann! Howard looks fucking badass!

  • Never seen nor heard this version oh my it's f*ckin awesome . . .

  • Comment removed

  • I was born in 1995 but i KNOW for a fact that Heart is one of the best female bands this world will ever see. and i was totally born in the wrong time period. i should've been born in the early 70's for sure. todays music is crap. were is good old rock and roll? come on 21st century

  • @hopingforfame101 when you look at the stage the wall of speakers on both sides were at least 80-100 ft. tall being there was mind blowing one could hear the concert from anywhere , I can to this very day still smell the turkey legs that were smoked that tasted just like ham...food there was cheep compaired to todays concession stands . but the rock n roll was timeless nothing like today s lady ga ga bullshit ...the 70's ruled!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NoNameWondr Wow,now this was Rock...how was the crowd..pretty peaceful I suspect, didn't need a shit load of security to bring ya down,I also wonder how the parking was dealt with??Mind you not everybody had a friggen car then like todays young people,so it probably was not an issue.!!??

  • @lovesheart The concert was fantastic , security, what security... I'm sure they were there I can't remember seeing any there was a fight I recall, but it about being over charged for some crapy homegrown , we parked off the side of the freeway some 5-miles away from the entry gates , the tickets cost $12.50 plus a sur charge which was a1st. I can remember bitching about this... but the entire event was a great experiance for me still to this day. rock on heart lover.......

  • This is back in the day when REAL musicians played REAL

mucical instruments and sang GREAT rock'n'roll songs!!

I really miss the mid 70's to early 80's!!

  • @superbulldog81 Yes, I have to say it will never be like this again,we had a major explosion of talent coming out of the 60's love generation taking us into the best era of music ever. thinking about it I feel Happy and Sad! : )

  • @superbulldog81 You and me both.. I do like some musicians now...but back then there were SO many..ah well, at least we got a chance to be there and enjoy it then. We will always have the memories (I went a bit too far there, but I meant it) :)

  • Excuse me, i think in this video Ann looks like quite a bit to Lucy Lawless. what do you think?

Anyway, thanks for the uploading great great song!!!

  • @TheMissmcleod Sexier! ; D

  • @TheMissmcleod Thats what I thought when I first saw Lucy Lawless on Xena:Warrior Princess. I think she can sing too.

  • Why isn't any of the Cal Jam's officially released besides Deep Purple?

  • Please please please, HEART need to be in the Hall of Fame.

  • Quirky tune---great harmonies as usual.

  • One of the Best Tunes!!!! No Doubt!!!

  • super!!!

  • man, that intro put me in a psychedelic trans. i started seeing puff the magic dragon, smurfs, and cheshire cats come out from under my bed.

  • @RottenAppleSeeds Welcome to my world! ; D

  • What ever happen to Roger Fisher?

  • @flafilmgirl Roger is in Seattle, working very hard on a secret project with Magic man (his brother Michael) who I spoke with last week. They will be coming up to Vancouver soon to celebrate with all of the original friends from the early days of Heart.

  • she's the female robert plant....her voice is so awesome.

  • At 3:42 her voice just sends chills down my spine.

  • grew up with Heart a few years older and a few blocks away and Queensryche practicing a couple blocks the other way and a few years younger. Not old enough to be at this one but old enough to remember how Heart paved the way....awesome stuff.

  • Someone asked me once when I was singing in a band in about 1984 what I enjoyed about the experience. I told them that being complimented for even remotely sounding like Ann Wilson was (up until I had my daughter mind you) the most gratifying thing that I could accomplish.

It also didn't hurt that I got to sort of dress like my heroines! I love Heart <3

  • Wow...

  • I was there too, as I recall the ticket was useless, the gates were smashed town, no one took my ticket!

  • @sopasgirl lol like woodstock!

  • I was there!!! I don't remember much but I remember this jam 'cause I was sleeping and they played this!! I woke up and started partying again and then the water bottles started flying and ya hd to catch one if you were thisty!!

  • I had forgotten about this one which is weird since it's the album's title song.

  • @mss627 Yeah, many people don't remember this tune. For the average listener classic Heart consists of the "big 3" hits Barracuda, Crazy On You, and Magic Man. Too bad the others don't get radio airplay anymore...the first 4 heart albums were full of great songs.

  • The way TRUE rock'n roll was ment to be played.

And this was right in the middle of the disco (sound

of me vomiting) era. HEART RULES!!

  • i close my eyes at 3:49 and listen to Janis.

  • @ojososo Really? I was listening to some Zep the other day and Damned if I didn't here some Janis in Plant's voice,I think he borrowed some tricks from her style.

  • I Love both the Wilson sisters !!!! But theres NO Hotter....more beautiful ...and Sexier woman in the world than Ann in this video !!!!!!! Thats one Stunning Gorgeous woman !!!!! and then their she is with one of the greatest female voices EVER!!!

  • @Steve1861 Thumbs up to that buddy!

  • I was at that concert.....was great! Sold my mini bake to buy a ticket.

  • like the groove of this song and the tone too, also the vocals are outstanding!

  • that was Saturday March 18th, 1978

  • Wow, brings back memories. I was there.

  • Little Queen is a must own album for any music collection... it is just awesome start to finish.

  • I hate to say, but I thought Howard Leese was Nancy for a minute here. Sorry...you can kill me now, but dear Lord!!!!!!! This coming from a modern kid though. So yah.

  • @brainseatpeople1 Hey it's cool that you know the name of the band members. Whenever I ask anyone if they like Ann Wilson's voice I get the response "from Wilson Phillips?" Argh.

  • In their prime, belong in RnR Hall of Fame. along with Rush

  • Gotta love those outfits!

  • Heart played at the Indiana state fair back in...I believe it was 1978, perhaps 1979, I don't remember I was pretty tweeked back in them days :o) I tried to sneek in, but the shirts got me when I was about 10' from the crowd. I'd like to say I'm really sorry to those two heart girls....really fuckin sorry I didn't get in there! I probably missed a hella concert. Peace :o)

  • I was there it was the best 2 day ...24 band concert in the world I spent what I thought was a fortune on tickets back then to be there $150..?,,,i would pay 100 times that to be able to go back again

  • Damn Annie is helllllaa fine in those stillettos.

  • Man thats a smoggy park,and not from cars! : D

  • @lovesheart Yeah no doubt..."high time" alright..:)

  • @lovesheart It was body sweat and weed. I remember just before "Little Queen",

skyjumpers fell into the crowd. It was a world record for the time, " Ann stated to

    the crowd, "let's welcome them".

  • Brings back fond memories. I was lucky to be there for this show.

  • Nice Video! Thanks for it.

  • I was never really a big Heart fan, but this is a solid tune.

  • What happened to this kind of music? Nobody makes it anymore....SUCKS that nobody does this kind of music anymore.

  • Bottom line...

It isn't the biggest money maker.

    F*ck the music industry.

  • @IHATESTUPlDPEOPLE Heart still makes this kind of music!

  • @IHATESTUPlDPEOPLE Saphin does.

  • @IHATESTUPlDPEOPLE yeah. the new 'generation' brings a new vibe. then it grows from there. glad i got to be around to hear the 60's stuff, live the 70's scene. millsie

  • Ann is stout and HOT!!!

  • @va4rebs How PERFECT is ANN here !!! In everyway!!!! So Out and Out GORGEOUS!!!!!! and what a Voice !!!!!!!!!!! What a BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!!!!

  • No worries mate, just thought I would put up the history for all to read!

  • No Ann dated Michael Fisher (Rog's Bro)and wrote Magic Man about him,Nance did end up with Roger cause he made a bee line for her the day he saw her and would not give up til she gave in! : )

  • Beautiful song, great musicians, beautiful Ann & Nancy.Bought all their albums (yes vinyl) and brings back good memories to here these songs by HEART!

  • damn they F'n jammmmm !!!!!! (sigh)

  • I only wish Nancy Wilson had never been dating Roger Fisher the badass lead guitar player....then he would have probably not left the group after they broke off the romance after the Dog And Butterfly album. After Roger left they made one last pretty good album, Bebe le Strange, and then it was all down hill from there. Bye bye Roger meant bye bye an important part of that group.

  • @tunein

Their comeback album in the 80's was pretty good. Face it, the driving force of the group has been Ann's beautiful voice. Without her, no one would know who Heart is.

  • I agree, how time renders all opinion moot! Except for "How Can I Explain" Passion Works was not up to the usual standard. Honestly, how many hit songs can you write before you finally lose the inspiration?

  • @tunein Your exactly right ! That was the downfall of this group. Their music in the 80's was fine, but not this leather and lace brand of rock they were famous for. Roger + their chemistry made them better, what could have been !

  • Ann and Nancy are awesome but this set of band members were awesome too.

  • Love this song. Heard it over 50 times since I found it on utube. Awesome concert. I was sitting past the first set of speakers. Must have been a 1/4 mile away but it was still awesome.

  • Sweeeeeeet Little Led Zepplin sWEEEEEEEET

  • This song is a real masterpiece... great... I like the drums on this... As I already said.... GREAT !!!!!!!

  • I think Howard Leese screwed up. You can hear Roger Fishers 12-String sound in the back... but who cares.... almost great performance....

  • Yeah perhaps, but not that noticeable to the 300,000 + in attendance, man I would have loved to bin at this show, but up front of course.

  • The Intro is GREEEAAAAT !!!

  • I think someone screwed up,but when that train is rolling,well,you know. : )

  • The Wilson sisters not being in the Hall is a full-on travesty. With the Runaways getting a movie (who I love), I can't believe there hasn't been a movie made about the Wilsons. You couldn't make up such a story. They were such pioneers in the industry. They always stayed classy and always kicked out hits. This is American rock royalty right here. RESPECT*

  • Hott!

  • THink its horrible that Ann WIlson (heart) isnt in the Rock in Roll hall of fame!!!! iF AGREED THUMBS UP AND LETS START A PETITION AND GET HEART IN!!!!!!

    LETS DO THIS!!!!!

  • /agreed!

  • Those speaker cabinets are cool.

  • I saw Heart live at Japan-island in 1978.

I love Ann and Nancy now yet...

  • Been a Heart fan for YEARS, only recently I added Little Queen to my "Songs that are the reason why Heart should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" playlist.

  • Cool, what a sensitive topic on the official boards,I won't even touch it there!

  • This is a cool playlist lol

  • i think back then it was unheard of to have a girl playing the guitar in a rock band. nancy's a true pioneer....and having a real rock singer that's a female....i dont really remember any other bands like this...i love heart

  • Me too,I think we were all a little taken back or stunned in 76,what just hit us,WOW,I really wish I would have walked up and talked to them @ one sound check, but I was too young and shy! : )

  • It's amazing to look back on this and know that at the time the band was only a short way into its long career. The audience wasn't entirely appreciative and was waiting for something "bigger" - Ted Nugent. HA! The best bands endure. I saw Heart three times in 2009. Where is Nugent?

  • holy shit ann was smokin hott back in the day!! was she not?
