@vantagestudios It's probably that Overlord pedal I'm running through. My house (early 1900s) has really old wiring which I suspect may also introduce some hum. There is a lot of hum in this video, I'll admit.
@thehojos1 Get that checked out. Chances are good your "3rd prong" the ground prong on a power cord is not actually connected to the earth. Go to lowes and buy a ground fault tester and test your grounds.
@MortandHarley I suppose the cat is out of the bag. I thought I would be the first to make a bamboo guitar, only to find First Act released one just as I finished mine. The bamboo slabs can be found in the cooking section of your favorite department store. Just look for large bamboo cutting boards. Make sure you know what size you'll be making to be sure there is enough there. You should need two cutting boards stacked to create the width of the body, about $40 total.
I always wanted to tryout this Pedel, when I saw it in 92, but through an Ibanez EX Guitar with Dimarzio pick ups played through a Marshall it would Rule I bet.
It's a great pedal. Depending on which tubes you put in, you can get different sounds. The amp I'm playing through doesn't color the sound too much, so you can get the basic idea of how it sounds. There are a couple of models out there and you can find them on ebay sometimes.
I got that pedal for Christmas one year. I wanted a Proco Rat, but they didn't have one in store, so my folks (not knowing much difference) got me the Overlord. I swapped my 12AX7 for a 12AT or maybe a 12AU. It made it sooo much better. The 12AX was too harsh. This pedal is very underrated. It basically turns any solid state amp into a tube monster - to some extent anyway. Do you have any vids featuring your Overlord?
Yeah. That 12ax7 was a bit much for me. It sounded like a hailstorm (hail - falling ice, not "hell")if cranked too far. It reminded me a bit of J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr., but it wasn't really my style. I only turn my overlord's drive up to about 10 o' clock anyway. I throw a big muff on top of it if I really want some gain.
Definitely Overlord.

I got your message. My finger lips are sealed.

BTW, where did you get a bamboo body or blank slab of bamboo?
RapidG 3 years ago
Top Secret. but in general terms, Wal-Mart. Give me your email address and I'll let you know more as long as you don't post it all over the web.

Wow, that's awesome. I was wondering the same thing, actually- where you got the material for this. Any room for one more secret keeper?

Sorry, I don't have any videos and don't even have a video camera.

Overlord pedal, wow. You don't see too many of those around. I have one with a 12AT7 in it. Sounds cool.
I like your guitar too. : )

I still use it with the 12ax7 one since I prefer harder shades of gain, but it being it, it's very controllable through your guitar volume.
Y'should try some guns 'n roses on it, sounds sweet.
Ps. sweet guitar.
