  • Recorded this off the local smooth jazz station onto cassette back in the late 80s but lost it. Glad to hear it again.

  • i luv jazz music iz very relaxing

  • @Msayeshalocks this is not jazz.

  • This song reminds me of living in the Bay Area in Cali. I discovered this song and the wonderful world of smooth jazz while I was there. I was 11 years old. My dad went to a concert and met him. My dad told him that I was a huge fan of his. I got an autographed shirt from him. I treasure the shirt till this day and I am 28. Will always love Kirk Whalum.

  • Every time I hear this song I imagine myself at my apex. Near the oceans on the beach listening to the sounds of the sax and the wave....

  • Kinda gives me the feeling of LA back in 80's

    B ))

  • Thank you for posting this, one of my all time favorites! Beautiful!

  • Took me months to figure out the name of this song, but it was on the radio tonight! One of my personal favorites.

  • strolling in downtown chicago on a sunny saturday afternoon

  • @SuperGal06 It's cool how people have different interpretations. I agree with strolling in downtown Chicago, but I would have chosen a dark, gloomy, misty day. The kind of day where you have to leave your windshield wipers on all day. That is the ideal day in my book. Rainy, dark and inbetween 40-60 degrees.

  • sweet !!!

  • You ain't lived 'til you seen Kirk play this live!

  • I recently found out that Mr. Wayman Tisdale has left us to be with our father in heaven. I'm sure his magnificient spirit has given us all the more reason to appreciate the life of love, our friends, family and the love we express in our own way. Mr. Tisdale will be so missed.

  • Very well said...may Mr. Tisdale rest in eternal peace.

  • @kittyrunsome -When did Mr. Tisdale pass? We need more people like you on You Tube to inform us of stuff we normally would'nt hear! How did he die?

  • A super sta of smooth jazz.

  • this song is slower than the one thats on my cd at home...but i like this one just as much if not better

  • this is a tight song, its the kind of song to make love to on a rainy day!!!!

  • I have the ablum the Best of Kirk Whalum, I notice him when I started listening to KKSF 103.7... The Wave is my favorite by him.

  • bout as smooth as it gets, summer music all day

  • yea his music is amazing...... i look foward to seeing him at the TSU jazz fest in houston texas

  • Love him live too!

  • So So chil. I love Kirk Whalums style. Great post. Good lookin' out TLDavis

  • soothing song

  • This guy is great in concert..and he has a cool sense of humor. I saw him in Kansas City some 13 years ago with Rick Braun, Peter White, and Marc Antoine - a concert to remember!

Although his music is unmistakably smooth - I think that his character is even "smoother" - the dude is a a profound Christian...and He lives it! This is cool!

May God always be honored through his life and music.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaah smooth jazz 95.5

    Sky Lounge

  • sounds like the weather channel...

  • For today: High 72 with a slight chance of rain throughout the evening. Low 48.

Tomorrow: High 78, sunny skies with a scatter of clouds, low 51.

lol, i've pretty much memorized the songs on my weather channel, Smooth Jazz is what im all about. Kirk is one of my biggest influences and many people hear that by the way i play.

  • That is so funny -- back when I used to listen to the Christian Science Monitor radio, they used to play "Maputo" by David Sanborn & Bob James at the end of the broadcast. Took them a few months to actually tell us the name of the song though...but every time I hear it now, I smile.

  • Your music is very soothing to the soul...

  • Did anyone know that Kirl Whalum at the start of his career was mentored by the legendary Bob James?

  • I actually like working out to this song.

  • Im workin this song out by ear but im listening to hiss Roundtrip Cd where it's a little faster, and in my opinion a lttle better.

  • Heard this song for the first time earlier today. Actually gave me chills!!

  • groovy sax themes are some of the most sensual and chillin things in the world.the sound of sax travells me to higher spheres so i give respect.thank u!

  • This is one of the best sounds

  • Yes, there are many sounds which are unpleasant. This sound, is not one of those unpleasant sounds. By not being one of the worst sounds, this sound is part of a much larger set of better sounds... perhaps even in the subset of "best" sounds.

  • Good Times...!

  • Well... what can I say? Let's give a toast to this one it's great!!!!!

  • Ah man. sheet music why can't i find you :P

    awesome sound :D

  • if you're going to try and figure this song out, try using your ear instead of depending on sheet music. In doing this, you'll be learning the song while at the same time, training your ear. Good luck

  • Is it me or Kirk Whalum has somewhat of a bittersweet sound to the sax? It is really cool and coordinates well with the music. By the way, Bob James mentored him in the 80s.

  • @TLDavis1230 replying after 2 years, but yes..this song would go well for a funeral,t it does have many layers to it...

  • At long last, somebody out there recognizes excellent music...thanks for posting this!!!!

  • Finally, thanks!
