@Arbaz1704 Patrick is a pshycopaht, Wainwright found that out, and watch the 4x07 clip ''Red John was nothing'' You will see that Patrick has a split personality, he's confused.
@BramB96 But even if that Red John was a figment of Janes imagination, how did he shoot the people that were about to kill him and remain tied up in the chair?
@BramB96 I'm going with PJ being RJ more and more. This kind of sealed it for me. [ "The Tyger" is the sister poem to "The Lamb" (from "Songs of Innocence"), a reflection of similar ideas from a different perspective, but "The Lamb" focuses more on goodness than evil. "The Tyger" also presents a duality between aesthetic beauty and primal ferocity. The speaker wonders whether the hand that created "The Lamb" also created "The Tyger”. ]
I really think that this long (and apparently never ending) plot device that is the killer "red john" makes "The mentalist" far less interesting than it could have been. From season one itself, they should have moved on and developped Jane's character. Indeed, this character is quite rich enough not to require the writers playing into some people's macabre fascination for pitiful psychopaths.
I never thought this way, Red John might be not only a person but an idea, an ideal which people were sacrificed to defend and keep alive. I thought a good idea, but very hard to be real ...
@hitman1728 Can't be La Roche. When Jane used him, he seems far too weak and would be far too anti climactic. Bret is an interesting theory on the other hand
i recon the red john is the guy with the twitchy eyes (: because every time the detectives gets close to whos the red john, the other boss puts that twitchy eyed dude infront of the case to hide him and so the detectives look for the other people exept him.
Could the message have been "He is married?" Why does it have to be a name? I gotta say, though, the man we see follow Rebecca resembles Brett quite a bit......
red john is an old guy..... in the lost evidence part on the DVD's it shows an old guy sitting in an arm chair watching a news story on red john then he flicks off the TV......
and like chloerheon said, the cop said red john was a friend of his dads.....
@MrRegalLegal i think christina is part of red johns network and rather than her being captured she escaped to go to red john, otherwise why would red john know "roll tide" ? he wouldn't torture her to find out something like "roll tide" they must be in it together and she has red hair just like the blind woman red john slept with so red johns taste!! Also i thought that the forensics guy was red john because of his voice but then i thought it can't be because he's too young and lacks the charm!
Is Walter Mashburn a kinda old guy that said the William Blake poem. If it is then itbwoukd make sense. The poem he said the ma... On the wall plus Red John seems kinda old. The police officer said red john was a friend of his dad which would make him old.
It does sound like jane a little bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the same actor plays the voice just for the hell of it. But Jane is definitely not red john though. obviously
everyone know here that is a poem of william blake? and do u know that william blake had a painting named "brace of pattridge" is very curious that the officer last name is pattridge. i personally think that the officer is just a minion
I think Brett is just a red herring to be honest. I would be really disappointed if he turned out to be Red John. Plus you see Brett acting out the copycat murder in the pilot episode, I don't think RJ would be stupid enough to start acting...well...Red John-esque in front of Patrick McHottie...I mean Jane. In Heroes, they actually had Sylar in the show before they had even cast Zachary Quinto. So maybe the writers don't even know who red john is yet! Oh how I love The Mentalist.
@ackybear89 Good point. Whoever he is, Red John is definitely playing Jane and I can't imagine Jane is too happy about it. I don't know if you saw this week's episode, but it seems that the CBI department director who appeared this season is connected to Red John because he quoted a poem by William Blake, who wrote what we hear Red John quoting here. I also don't trust Van Pelt's FBI boyfriend. He's far too eager to distance her from the team. The writers are brilliant on this show.
@MrRegalLegal I remember that character. "Loved" doesn't have to mean "sexually." But even if it did, it isn't like that can't happen on television and doesn't all the time. So no, I don't think that would be a ridiculous plot twist. The fact that Rebecca appeared and said that stuff even makes Kristina more likely, because the show writers are obviously going to try and use little "gender" mind tricks to take your eyes off of the prize, otherwise they won't be able to have a big "twist" later.
It's Kristina for sure. The big twist has to be that it's a woman (because John is a man's name, so most wont suspect, blah blah blah), and Kristina is the perfect one for the "big surprise" to be about. She's the one that Jane likes after his wife died, so it's gonna be SOOO messed up that he falls for his wife's killer... she get's "abducted" by RJ. Right... to take suspicion off of her. She's Jane's mental equal... it's the one that fits, kids.
I am not one hundered percent sure, but i think it could be Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti, the stunning red head) or the physicic Chrisntina Patrick Jane went on a date with. The reason i think it could be Greace is because she is never on the scenes when there is a real Red John case and she doesnt have a masisve part.
I think Red John might be Jane's brother in law (can't remember his name) but he really hates Jane. But I'm thinking of Cho as wel (even if I find it horrible if it would be him) but he is so emotionless and calm which would be perfect for a serial killer who's working whit his enemy. (sorry for my bad english)
Personally, I think Red John sounds a lot like Jane/Simon Baker, lol. I'm not saying Jane is Red John, as he obviously isn't, but they do sound somewhat similar.
Dudes n Babes , Red john can be this guy or christina. and there is a possibility that it is virgi menelli. first of all there was an obvious clue that red john was somene that is a police or agents or forensics cos the way he shoot at the last episode of season 2 shows that he had a gun n skills of shhoting. He must had experienced shooting. This is an obvious clue.
@Totallymexoxo true and it is a very "Mentalist" thing to do. have you noticed how the person who did the crime always appears within the first ten minutes (usually in the first five minutes) of the episode? so to follow the "pattern" he would appear within the first ten episodes (even within the first five if this theory is correct)
I think it's christina. She knew where the body lay from the young girl. This Officer is just an assistant and nothing else. He SAID exactly that what Red John want. Red John isn't a freaky killer. The people from The Mentalist want that we like Red John. Red John is probable a normally women (or guy). But christina, It was precisely the type of Red John. Peaceful, quiet and carefully with people. My opinion, nothing else. And, AMAZING story.
The voices are simular, to simular...Red John's to smart not to discuise his voice. Personally my theory is Brett is a Red Herring as such. I think Rigsby might be Red John's ally because we have nothing about his past hardly. Cho, Lisbon and Van Pelt all have had there backgrounds explained at least a little, Rigsby we haven't heard anything on. That said I'm not sure he's Red John himself, just his inside guy.
maybe this could be interesting: in the german episodes the voices of brett and red john don't sound very alike. moreover red john's voice sounds a little like a female voice to me (in german).
heller would have told the germans to use the same/similar voices, if brett was really red john - but then again you could explain the difference with the voice manipulation..
Yo look at the evidance.Jane told Lisbin RJ said nothing.RJ did say something .Thus Jane has probbly figuigured it out.And at the end of episode when he lays down he has that "i-have-a=hunch-that-is-most-likley-right" slight kind of simile.BTW Simon Baker is HOT
It's too easy to suspect which one is RedJohn.. it's must too easy for audiences to make a wild guess.. beside, i think Bruno Heller is trying to confuse us so that there will be a surprise when red john is revealed. but remember, red john could be anyone. however i too, would like to know who Red john is, and cant wait for next season to show.
Isn't he a bit young? I'm not so deep in the red-john part of the series but I think I heard that RJ has been killing people for years (i think 10 but i'm not sure). The forensics guy looks like... 25 or 28 so he must have been in his teens when he started...
But Im not sure, maybe its him, maybe christine, maybe minelli or maybe its a psychopat without a name. I just want to wait until they tell us~
Will be a great thrill for the next couple years XD
I agree. It has to be him becuz in season 2 episode 8 "His red right hand" at the end rebecca dies from red john putting poison in her. And it was in the police station so since he works for forensics it has to be him. And kinda same voice.
in the episode of the blind girl, he never leaves the stage with her, because I could recognize ... She described him as a tall black hair.
also remain in the department of the police could easily cover their tracks and divert them from the inside could be a real infiltrate. Much as I could always stay one step ahead of Jane.
in an episode Rigsby said: "kill drunk, is something that happens to anyone" in a chapter he sees hypnotize and angry.
Yes , that is posibile , but i dont think the productor would have make this so easy ... kristine cant be 100% , its imposibile . the forensics guy its close but remember that he always gets nervous when jane tells him that isnt red john's work , ( in the first and the last episode ) and red john hates the ones who try to copy him.... but again how could he know about the rolltide ? well occam's razor tells me that kristine just told him everything she was speaking with jane ,
wow...similar voice, Bruno might be deceiving us into thinking its brett. I have seen every episode and watched the last one twice...if you can fit the puzzle in send me back a message because i reallyX1000 want to know who he is. " when you find him, dont lock him up...kill him"-Bosco
i thought it was him 2 but it cant be cos if u and i can think oh the voices are the same must be him then jane would definatly put it together and if he knew i dont think he would go to sleep and try work the riddle out so calmly i think he would go after the forensic guy and try kill him like he has been going to this whole time so i think its the writers trying to throw us off by making the voices similar just to keep us guessing. to the people who think it is lisbon and monelli? ur retarded.
i dont think brett partridge is RJ they dont soud alike the forensics guys voice is too deep but RJ voice sounds more higher...but thts just what i think
This is amasing!! I had always thought it woul dbe awesome if they had Red John as a civillian in the show, RIGHT infront of Jane, Though I'd have thought he would have noticed the similarity in his voice...I mean Jane must know now. I can't wait till season three <3
no honestly it makes sense because the forensic guy is with the cops and knows whats going on and knows whether jane knows its red john or not, this helps him analyse whether the kids that imitate him are bad and should be killed or good and should stay alive
I think that this is so conclusive, also if you watch the pilot episode again and listen to him there he sounds even more like him, because he talks more as well.
Can't be Jane - in the last ep. that guy with the knife wasn't killed, so he's a witness to all that happened. The evil twin thing is so lame and soap opera. I'm hoping it turns out to be either Minnelli or the psychic. The voice does sound like the forensic guy, though.
I think evil twins and split personas can be eliminated right away! There have been several instances where RJ and Jane have been close to one another....RJ is seen at the end of the final episode of season 1. He runs out of the barn where the girl is hostage....and we need to remember that RJ had been murdering people long before Jane crossed paths with him. I'm prity sure that 'roll tide' will have some significance in this tale.....
Also, in the two murders that feature Partridge we are aware that RJ isn't the killer, despite Partridge claiming that it is. Jane discoveres the reasons why it isn't. Partridge may be forming an elaborate cover up, but I think that the reality is we are dealing with a very clever situation indeed....there are many people who could be RJ!
Several times in the past couple seasons, we've been lead to believe that Red John is male. But some of the suspects have said that Red John is "just like" Patrick. With the symmetry line of the poem, and the fact that Red John sounds somewhat like Patrick Jane speaking quietly, it could be that Jane has multiple personalities, or more intriguing, maybe he has an evil twin we don't know about, that would be cool, and unexpected, unlike the lameness of RJ being Kristina, or Partridge.
@peaceandmetal88 An evil twin would be kind of a rip-off of Dexter. Also, multiple personalities is hard to explain since Red John was somewhere else on several occasions (like when poisoning that police women)
The voices are similar, but Red John's has a lilting quality to it that Partridge doesn't seem to have. Partridge also does seem rather stupid... unless that's just a role he plays, and Red John is his real persona. But... Partridge also seems a bit young, by my reckoning.
People are talking about this guy on forums. For example, the poem Red John quotes at the end of the episode is by William Blake. Blake did a painting called 'A Brace of Partridge.' Great job on the voice comparison. They certainly do sound the same. I wouldn't trust the psychic either, if I was Jane. Maybe she's Red John's sister.
@ FSPKW: Jane has figured it out, that's why he doesn't tell Lisbon what RJ told him. He already knows who RJ is, and in true Jane fashion, he's creating a plan without letting anyone in on it.
I think its him too! the voice, his sudden appearance, his red john obsession in the first episode. i've been thinking that since i saw the episode last night
I think it is Patridge too. The voice yes is a reason but, the big one is remmember at the end of this episode when red john shots the two guys that killed marley and he says"the one thing i can't stand is when people pose my work" and brett was at the fake crime scene probably trying himself to figure out who did it
The voices are the same. Partridge was in the first show, and very first thing he says is "enter Red John." I think Kristina Frye is working with him because of the "roll tide" comment. She says roll tide to the waiter, and it means roll on, crimson tide. Crimson of course, is red. And where did she go? The only thing I don't understand is why Patrick Jane - a modern day Sherlock Holmes - doesn't recognize the voice or pick up on any of the clues.
Well what about the episode 'his red right hand'? In this episode he manages to kill Boscoes team from the inside (via the mole) and then he manages to kill her with the poision on her hand. It might not be red john himself, but it might be, and there is no reference to Partridge in this episode at any point....in fact quite the opposite. Partridge doesn't strike me as someone who is very clever and certianly not someone who is capable of extreme manipulation
Yup it is him, not just based off of the voice though, there's so much that points to him, that if it turns out not to be then the writers just like screwing with people.. Kind of like Lost I suppose..
Reasons it's him: He was in Pilot therefore they can say he has been in the show already He is part of a CSI unit therefore would be easy to go in and out of crime scene's.
He was at the fake red John Scene, if you were Rj wouldn't you want to see it as well? there's more but can't fit in post.
OK, after watching the latest episode S.04 epi.13, i came into minute conclusions on Red John.
01. He is taller than Jane. RJ should be somewhere around 6 ft.
02. He sits exactly as Jane does at the side of a couch.(Legs crossed)
03. RJ definitely prefer tea.
04.He is a left handed.

I agree. It has to be him becuz in season 2 episode 8 "His red right hand" at the end rebecca dies from red john putting poison in her. And it was in the police station so since he works for forensics it has to be him. And kinda same voice.

Red John = Wayne Rigsby
in the episode of the blind girl, he never leaves the stage with her, because I could recognize ... She described him as a tall black hair.
also remain in the department of the police could easily cover their tracks and divert them from the inside could be a real infiltrate. Much as I could always stay one step ahead of Jane.
in an episode Rigsby said: "kill drunk, is something that happens to anyone" in a chapter he sees hypnotize and angry.

red john is the CSI (forensey) guy!! is the same voyce

Yes , that is posibile , but i dont think the productor would have make this so easy ... kristine cant be 100% , its imposibile . the forensics guy its close but remember that he always gets nervous when jane tells him that isnt red john's work , ( in the first and the last episode ) and red john hates the ones who try to copy him.... but again how could he know about the rolltide ? well occam's razor tells me that kristine just told him everything she was speaking with jane ,
Bookert1010 1 year ago
wow...similar voice, Bruno might be deceiving us into thinking its brett. I have seen every episode and watched the last one twice...if you can fit the puzzle in send me back a message because i reallyX1000 want to know who he is. " when you find him, dont lock him up...kill him"-Bosco
thenoob9860 1 year ago
i thought it was him 2 but it cant be cos if u and i can think oh the voices are the same must be him then jane would definatly put it together and if he knew i dont think he would go to sleep and try work the riddle out so calmly i think he would go after the forensic guy and try kill him like he has been going to this whole time so i think its the writers trying to throw us off by making the voices similar just to keep us guessing. to the people who think it is lisbon and monelli? ur retarded.
joshmcfat 1 year ago
i dont think brett partridge is RJ they dont soud alike the forensics guys voice is too deep but RJ voice sounds more higher...but thts just what i think
TheSingitloud 1 year ago
@TheSingitloud plus it would be too obvious and predictable
i think he's gonna get killed in season 3 that would be a twist, right?

This is amasing!! I had always thought it woul dbe awesome if they had Red John as a civillian in the show, RIGHT infront of Jane, Though I'd have thought he would have noticed the similarity in his voice...I mean Jane must know now. I can't wait till season three <3

no its voldemort
no honestly it makes sense because the forensic guy is with the cops and knows whats going on and knows whether jane knows its red john or not, this helps him analyse whether the kids that imitate him are bad and should be killed or good and should stay alive
marloon5 1 year ago
I think that this is so conclusive, also if you watch the pilot episode again and listen to him there he sounds even more like him, because he talks more as well.
Cyb3rBurn 1 year ago
@marloon5 Which also gave him leway to know when Jane lost the case to ass face. Hence crazy lady killing the cops to give it back to him.
ToxicFlavouredCandy 1 year ago
Can't be Jane - in the last ep. that guy with the knife wasn't killed, so he's a witness to all that happened. The evil twin thing is so lame and soap opera. I'm hoping it turns out to be either Minnelli or the psychic. The voice does sound like the forensic guy, though.
BenThour 1 year ago
I think evil twins and split personas can be eliminated right away! There have been several instances where RJ and Jane have been close to one another....RJ is seen at the end of the final episode of season 1. He runs out of the barn where the girl is hostage....and we need to remember that RJ had been murdering people long before Jane crossed paths with him. I'm prity sure that 'roll tide' will have some significance in this tale.....
lauraeeee 1 year ago
Also, in the two murders that feature Partridge we are aware that RJ isn't the killer, despite Partridge claiming that it is. Jane discoveres the reasons why it isn't. Partridge may be forming an elaborate cover up, but I think that the reality is we are dealing with a very clever situation indeed....there are many people who could be RJ!

@lauraeeee
Seconded!
I mean, although it's trite, Minelli is still a good suspect for it.
ElusiveAppellation 1 year ago
Several times in the past couple seasons, we've been lead to believe that Red John is male. But some of the suspects have said that Red John is "just like" Patrick. With the symmetry line of the poem, and the fact that Red John sounds somewhat like Patrick Jane speaking quietly, it could be that Jane has multiple personalities, or more intriguing, maybe he has an evil twin we don't know about, that would be cool, and unexpected, unlike the lameness of RJ being Kristina, or Partridge.
peaceandmetal88 1 year ago
@peaceandmetal88 no you retard, he is standing before him, so it can't be RJ....
Enerccio 1 year ago
@peaceandmetal88 An evil twin would be kind of a rip-off of Dexter. Also, multiple personalities is hard to explain since Red John was somewhere else on several occasions (like when poisoning that police women)
ennetws2 1 year ago
In the pilot episode it shows a mortician with a skull tatoo outside a crime scene. I was wondering if that was red john.
1993Mtb 1 year ago
The voices are similar, but Red John's has a lilting quality to it that Partridge doesn't seem to have. Partridge also does seem rather stupid... unless that's just a role he plays, and Red John is his real persona. But... Partridge also seems a bit young, by my reckoning.
*shrugs*
Dunno.
ElusiveAppellation 1 year ago
People are talking about this guy on forums. For example, the poem Red John quotes at the end of the episode is by William Blake. Blake did a painting called 'A Brace of Partridge.' Great job on the voice comparison. They certainly do sound the same. I wouldn't trust the psychic either, if I was Jane. Maybe she's Red John's sister.
Relayer666 1 year ago
@ FSPKW: Jane has figured it out, that's why he doesn't tell Lisbon what RJ told him. He already knows who RJ is, and in true Jane fashion, he's creating a plan without letting anyone in on it.
hollynoel1029 1 year ago
I think its him too! the voice, his sudden appearance, his red john obsession in the first episode. i've been thinking that since i saw the episode last night
JennaCarterQ 1 year ago
I think it is Patridge too. The voice yes is a reason but, the big one is remmember at the end of this episode when red john shots the two guys that killed marley and he says"the one thing i can't stand is when people pose my work" and brett was at the fake crime scene probably trying himself to figure out who did it
BlueBass18 1 year ago
The voices are the same. Partridge was in the first show, and very first thing he says is "enter Red John." I think Kristina Frye is working with him because of the "roll tide" comment. She says roll tide to the waiter, and it means roll on, crimson tide. Crimson of course, is red. And where did she go? The only thing I don't understand is why Patrick Jane - a modern day Sherlock Holmes - doesn't recognize the voice or pick up on any of the clues.
FSPKW 1 year ago
@FSPKW I guess Red John is really good at blending in even if we can't see it as viewers.. he is after all as smart as Patrick :)

I'm totally agreed with you! I have the same feeling about him! Partridge IS Red John!

I wanna see more Red John. :) Seeing him with that outfit and that mask and that creepy voice just thrills me.
xXSycamorePearlXx 1 year ago
Well what about the episode 'his red right hand'? In this episode he manages to kill Boscoes team from the inside (via the mole) and then he manages to kill her with the poision on her hand. It might not be red john himself, but it might be, and there is no reference to Partridge in this episode at any point....in fact quite the opposite. Partridge doesn't strike me as someone who is very clever and certianly not someone who is capable of extreme manipulation
lauraeeee 1 year ago
what is the relevance of 'roll tide'? The chap in the restraunt mentions it, so does Jane, so does Kristina and so does Red John. Is this a clue?
lauraeeee 1 year ago
@lauraeeee I am guessing Red John was spying on them at the resturant, just a thought
ennetws2 1 year ago
Yup it is him, not just based off of the voice though, there's so much that points to him, that if it turns out not to be then the writers just like screwing with people.. Kind of like Lost I suppose..
Reasons it's him: He was in Pilot therefore they can say he has been in the show already He is part of a CSI unit therefore would be easy to go in and out of crime scene's.
He was at the fake red John Scene, if you were Rj wouldn't you want to see it as well? there's more but can't fit in post.

sound exactly like him isnt this the same guy from the pilot episode??
