This song is from the Fats Waller film "King of Burlesque." Released as Victor 25211, this recording reached #8 on the charts over a ten week run starting June 22, 1935.
I used to mountain bike. And when I would go down this one particular mountain, this recording would run through my head. The rhythm, the joy of it, I can't explain it. It just fit. Fats Waller may be the single most underated musician of the 20th century.
How about someone posting "if this isn't love you'll just have to wait for the real thing to come along". One of my all time Favorites of Fats and it aint here!
great stuff.. Fats died to young and missed the renaissance of Television and Stereo so never gets the worship of Ellington, Astaire, Pops, etc... giant
I wa so lucky to be completely exposed to all traditional jazz through the great Leo Rayhill from Syracuse NY. The public radio station there. He exposed me to among hundreds of great recordings, the great magnificent Fats Waller. What a great light he shown on America. This was America in those great days of the Republic.
Green Tea, you are the man. Fats Waller classic... my personal favorite. Gotta love the intro, Al Casey strumming on guitar, Fats just enjoying himself, followed by classic stride and walking tenths, and then the vocal and the band. Simply amazing.
@TITOMARTINO I learned what brothel means from Assassin's Creed. XD
