  • What a lousy video.

  • Yeah, the L-head, also known as the "flathead", had been replaced by OHV around the mid 1950's (in the automotive world).

With greater emission regulations came the push to replace the flathead as the leading small engine type.

However, I love how the flathead sounds.

In my opinion, the flathead sounds better than every other engine type, all except for the Hemi engines of 1950 and 1960-71.

    Have a good day.

  • was the engine that blew up an L head by any chance?

  • i just ordered one for my walk behind weedtrimmer...... i hope this is as good as you say....

  • my personal favorite is the 13.5 briggs L-head design engine

  • gotta love those l's - INDESTRUCTIBLE!

  • My modified Murray originally came with a 14hp OHV briggs - its still strong motor( i swapped it for a 18HP twin)- originally i didnt think it would run- it was left outside for years with no carb cover on- the carb/intake/combustion chamber was full of rust. After some serious spraying with wd40 and pb blaster, i cleaned waht i could and tryed firing it up. It fired right up- couldnt believe it. Still runs good on another tractor i have. Briggs motors are beasts!

  • my POS Briggs wont die! i got vids

  • Ya, you really realy have to try to blow those things up. I don't understand how this guy blows so many up :S
