Nice idea. For the wire hook and the wire attached to the tape measure, they can be the same wire. This way there is less chance of the taped wire coming loose over time.

@pictom1 I never had any problems with the wire, but my tape measure finally seized up after being in place for 5 years.

That was longer than I thought it would ever last.
