  • One of my favorite groups ever. In my opinion, he's just as great and creative as U2 or R.E.M. Too bad he isn't as famous as them, he's so talented.

  • Seen him live a number of times, and it's always a treat! (Apart from the last gig when he was utterly knackered at the end of a long European tour...)

What a bassist Kevin is!!!! Steals the show, in my book!!!

  • Amazing song ...Brilliant brilliant brilliant ...are you coming to dublin Chuck? would love to see you live !!!!!

  • Perfect!

  • I got the pleasure of meeting Chuck at the Winnipeg Folk Festival about a week and a half ago, he was amazing live, he was very nice in person and he blew my mind. He's very underrated. Go Chuck Prophet!

  • great performance. I would love to see them live.

  • Less than impressed. Letterman is a total douchebag. Hating on someones religion unless their a muslim is so passe. No talent. No comments for 2 months. LAME. Letterman, Obama, Progressive, You people fail. So full of hate and don't know where to throw it.

How's that war working out for you?

  • @87cadillachearse Off topic much? Plus, everything you said is untrue. And spelled incorrectly on top of it.

  • Dont know why Chuck or Green on Red never made it big time. They are in my opinion the most underated band ever.I have seen him live and his guitar playing just blew me away. The Edge is not in the same league.I had a BBC live cassette tape of one of GOR Glastonbury gigs,it was the best live performance I have ever heard. Played it so much it broke ,could not get a replacement. Chuck looks as if he has just crawled out of his pit in this video. The woman on keyboards is his missus,Stephanie Finch.

  • Who is the woman on keyboards?

  • @landesart His wife.

  • @landesart It's his wife.

  • He plays a Fender Esquire and try buying one of those babies.Chuck you are way too cool for this show ,but no doubt the exposure is welcomed. As for that irritating creep on the tubular bells,I wish he would hit himself on the napper and be done with it.

  • @bearheid Here! Here!

  • I recently saw them live, and I have made mp3s downloads of everything available. I can't get enough of this music. DOES IT for me!

  • Almost walked past him at Van Ness and Market today, but stopped to compliment him on his show at the Make Out Room last week. He not only has talent: he roped in talent from Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to join him. To my praise, he simply said, "Awesome, Dude!" Humble, gracious guy: a musician's musician.

  • i love how letterman's band gets in on it too. nice collab

  • i love how letterman's band gets in on it too. nice collab

  • really nice!!!!

  • First time I have ever seen an artist use a Squire guitar on TV! Maybe I will leave the name on the headstock.

  • @sevenswordsx7 I'm pretty sure it's a Japanese Squier from the 80s, just because his Squier Tele that he uses is Japanese for sure.

  • @sevenswordsx7 Hi it`s a Fender Esquire and they are seriously expensive.Look them up.I wish you could get a sound like that from SQUIRE but alas no.

  • be brave, say make a doubter out of allah. come on, stud. be brave.

  • nice

  • GREAT song!

  • Awesome love that Black Gibson S G the lead guitarist has.

Great song unique style Chuck rules.

  • Chuck is so underrated it's not funny. Deserves way more attention. The band is excellent live.

  • @Avengers88 agreed!

  • @Avengers88 Wow. You ain't just whistling dixie! Maaaan! I'm reborn again! Rock 'n roll lives! (Oh wait, this thing's flipping 4 years old... No matter. Kicks ass!)

  • i go to school with the durmers son

  • I saw Chuck in Zagreb, but he preformed solo.I hope that he will bring the band with self next time.Great show at Letterman

  • I saw Al Escovedo in Calgary last July and he was using some of the same effects...

  • Just saw this band last month in England, they are amazing, One of the best gigs I have ever seen.

  • That bad ass bass player in the hat is my Uncle!! The whole band is so chill and down to earth, I LOVE THEM!!

  • the song actually is called

    " all over you"

  • doubter out of jesus(all over you)

  • tonight in Ottersum Netherlands

I am going to see this great!!!

  • saw him in Nottingham, last week; great set, superb band!

  • super gut!

    chuck is the bomb!!!!!

  • bad quality man.

  • Oh, right, '84 or '86.

  • Is this the same Chuck Prophet from Bad Attitude? The last time I saw him perform was by the duck pond at DVC with the Bad Attitudes in '94? '96?

  • go and see the man & mission express on his new european tour, starting in leiden @q-bus..

  • Why this guy isn't a mega rock star, I'll never know ??!! He is so underrated it is a travesty !!

  • @gskessinger Hi I couldn`t agree more. There was a guy wrote some years ago in the programme liner notes for a Glastonbury Festival, the same sort of thing. He was stumped as to why these guys(Green on Red)were not one of the biggest acts on the planet instead of floundering in the basement of the second tier.If U2 are supposedly the best band in the world then I`m packing it in.Go Chuck. You rule.

  • But the real question is who put the ram in the ramma lamma ding dong?

  • and the answer is Chuck Prophet. AKA: THE MAN. nice comment

  • Simply amazing

  • Damn, couldn't find the song to download...what a killer groove, voice and reverb guitar!

  • Letterman knows how to turn the hounds out and let 'em hunt.

  • Get rid of Paul

  • Great, really good. Known Chuck since he was a wee lad in Bad Attitude. This is an incredible performance.

  • Hi there,

I saw Chuck 2 years ago.

Since then he is one of my heroes.

    Rock on

    Klaus from Hamburg Germany

  • just saw him yesterday at the xpn fest. dude knows how to rock.

  • Been looking for this song since I heard it on the radio - 88nine here in Milwaukee....

  • this is a great, great video...he has hits after hits, best performance on the letterman show by far

  • This song and that album and just everything by Chuck Prophet is phenomenal. I think he is one of the greatest singer/songwriters I have ever heard. His music is infectious, mind blowing, and addicting!!! I love YOU, CHUCK!!!!

  • The best I've seen on this show. Thanks to Letterman I've been introduced to an amazing performer I've never heard before. After the show I had to get the album "Soap and Water" and since have gotten whatever I could get my hands on of his music. He's just amazing.

  • Chuck Prophet is the man as far as I'm concerned. Consistently brilliant.

  • yeah,this is a great song

  • Todd, you are a great drummer!

  • soap and water was one of the best albums of 2007... without a doubt...

  • Catch him in the clubs. Watch for his rendition of the obscure 60's soul song "Count the Days (1,2,3,4,5,6,7)"

  • rock and roll. puryod.

  • Go Chuck! Great live show. Buy Balinese Dancer and Feast of Hearts right now. You won't regret it.

  • I saw Chuck Prophet in Manchester last year and he was fantastic. Such a great guitar player and such great songs!!

  • chuck live is such a bomb! love his shows!!!

  • The best guitar player on the planet - bar none. (OK, you won't get that from this track - but them's some fancy tubular bells, eh?)

  • Hells Yeah!!Showin' Chuck the Love!!Great song from a great cd!

  • great version..presume it was too late for the kids choir

  • Love this!

  • I hope he still speaks to me after this global exposure ;)

Go get 'em fella....we all luv ya.

-42nd State branch of the CP+MX Fan Club!

  • yeah baby!

  • This is the first time I have heard Chuck Prophet. They are fantastic! James Deprato is part of this band. He is an excellent musician too!

  • chuck is a genius.

  • cool & stinging.........

  • hey now friends

the stubble was mesmerizing and the performance omnipotent! clever way to keep paul amused and outta trouble too.... and dave genuinely liked it!

  • It IS about time Chuck is getting what is due the artist....SO Happy for everyone in Chuck's band and love the messy hair - I love to see your hair amess, Chuck!

    TesstheFirst in St. Pete, FL

  • Nice! Easily the best I've ever heard anyone sound on this show.

  • man, this might actually be the rare late-night performance that actually sells some records....

  • uber kewl. only complaint is the camera focused on paul everytime chuck played a lead...

  • I hope Viacom doesn't come by and yank this off the web... too cool!

  • p/s Stephanie looks and sounds great, Chuck's band is tight, and Paul Shaffer on Glockenspiel is so wrong that it's right. Paul was prefect, but also made me laugh so hard I accidentally spit soda on my carpet. He looks like a mad scientist.

Was nice to have the house band augmenting the guest artist rather than just jamming over them, as they sometimes do. Nice handclaps, too.

  • LOVE IT!

Thanks for posting. I actually stepped away from my computer last night long enough to see this on TV, and was pretty much the best sounding thing that's ever come out of those little three-inch speakers.

It's nice to see Chuck getting the attention he's deserved for decades.

In 18 months when every alternaJock in America is sporting a "You Could Make A Doubter Out Of Jesus" T-shirt, I'll be the first to proudly stand up and say "I knew him when".

  • Thanks for posting this - got a buddy in his backup band and I fell asleep during Tom Brokaw just before this aired. hah

  • Hands down...that's the most badass performance I've ever seen on Letterman!
