I don't know if a representative or anyone similar reads these comments, but I have somthing to ask.
Why isn't there a major distrobution plan for Sgt.Frog within my country? (It's the one with the beavers and the Hockey)
Out of all the stores i've tried, only one mainstream store seems to aknowledge that that it even exists, and that store still hasn't gotten there shipment in (Said chain is HMV). And Aparently, the store I ordered it from is 1 of the 2 ... (Continued)
...In the whole country ( the other being in BC) that the DVD is being shipped to.
So I ask, why?
Why is it you've chosen to disregard a portion of this continent in terms of DVD releases? (Not just this, but Shin-Chan Season 2 falls into this problem as well.)
Do you simply not see us as a viable market?
Is it simply because the show was not broadcast on YTV?
Or have you simply not gotten around to shipping out shipments?
I would like a concrete answer please, if possible.
Yay! the release is officially only a month away. i can't wait :3
Just a quick question though: I noticed for the 3rd box set? some online retailers are listing it early and calling it "Season 2 pt1" even though its only episodes 27-39 which is clearly still in season 1. So is this just a mess-up on the retailers part? or is it really going to be called "season 2"? Cuz calling season 1 "season 2" will bug the heck out of me XD
I watched this when I was 13. I am now 20 and this is coming out now. Slow american anime companies who sell anime for high prices do not give people a chance to watch it and then expect people to purchase their version. Protip Generally people do not buy DVD sets that they do not know the quality of.
You know that you can preview this series both dub and sub on Funimation's video site don't you? And if you think that list price $39.99 for a 13 episode set is expensive then you're crazy. A Japanese dvd with just 2 episodes costs $60.
There's a couple things wrong with what you jest said. First, FUNimation isn't slow. Sgt. Frog wasn't put up for lisencing until this year. Secondly, if you think WE get anime DVDs at high prices, check the average price of anime DVDs over in Japan--the average ten-episode box set is eighty U.S. dollars. Thirdly, this is volume 2, so the quality of the box set is known (from volume 1), and it's good.
yep they are ripped off bad in japan. and funimation is slow if they were fast we would have seen this in 05 maybe 06 but they we are finally getting DVDs now. I saw the first season of this show ages ago and I red the manga even longer before then.
Maybe I'm not being clear enough. FUNimation is not slow. Sgt. Frog was not put up for lisence until very recently. To simplify that, the Japanese animation company behind Sgt. Frog *did not want* foreign adaptations to be made until just recently. So FUNimation is not slow.
Oh yeah, I do remember seeing that ADV held the rights at one point. So either FUNimation bought this during their massive purchasing of ADV's properties before their demise, or they bought it after ADV lost the rights, or ADV waited too long to do anything with it. Usually when animes are purchased, there is an agreement that it HAS to be on either TV or DVD by a set date, otherwise it would be known as "lisence hogging"--having an anime just to have it--which the Japanese don't like at all.
Two months? No, I'm sorry, that's not slow. If you think that's slow than you have astronomically high expectations. Do you honestly believe an anime can be dubbed, mixed, encoded on DVD, and distrtibuted on DVD in two months or less? Do you know how long it takes to dub something (especially if you're dubbing it well)? Especially since animes are dubbed on a person-by-person basis in sessions that last several hours at a time? I'm sorry, you're just not right here.

dubs are horrible. in japan children grow up trying to become anime voice talent and they study and work hard to become one and are treated as idols. in the US American anime companies scout often bad actors to do the voices. I also hate to be a grammar nazi but you do not use an s on Japanese loan words. one tsunami many tsunami, one rickshaw many rickshaw, one manga many manga ETC.
Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'm no longer certain what you're trying to prove. Regardless, buy the DVDs because the subtitled version is on there--plus, fansubs and illegal downloads are killing the anime industry, both here and in Japan. Actors over there aren't being treated as "idols" anymore as you say because anime is now only availble in Japan on private satelite networks...all because anime fans now have a reputation for being unwilling to buy anything. Change it!
Except that fansubbers are ruining the anime buisness and I'll never watch anything fansubbed again after I've learned what I've learned. Search for Greg Ayers' panel if you want to learn more about it, there's a link to it on my YouTube page.
Besides, even if you like the subbed version, official DVD subs are the way to go for multiple reasons.
I'm still going to watch fansubs nontheless, but I'm also going to support English dubs...just not COMPLETELY, I mean, I'm still entitiled to an opinion :P
Yes you are, it's just that by not buying the DVDs, you're not supporting the dub, sure, but you're also not supporting the original Japanese version. Anime lisence companies have to give a percentage of their profits back to the original Japanese studio as part of the agreement for being allowed to dub it--so you're effectively ripping them off, too. There's no reason to watch fansubs anyway...the official subs are translated by people with professional degrees in Japanese, unlike fansubs.
Fansubs are still trustable nontheless >_>. And what do you mean no reason to watch fansubs? Nobody's putting up any Keroro dubbed episodes on Youtube, I don't buy DVDs, there isn't a video store within a 5 mile radius from my house, and my parents don't go out to buy me things. No reason to watch fansubs huh?
By the way, it's spelled "license"
I understand your supporting of English dubs and whatnot, but there's no need to shove it down our digestive tracts ~_~
I'm not shoving anything down anybody's throat. Quite the contrary, I'm calmly telling everyone that they are entitled to their own opinion. I also wish to clarify that I want people to support the anime itself, not just the dubs. I'm merely saying that fansubs are destroying the anime industry, and that is a fact, not an opinion. After that, what you do is your call. I would highly reccomend searching YouTube for Greg Ayers' panel on fansubs, though. It has stuff in it everyone should know.
There are dubbed (and subbed) Keroro episodes streaming on Funimation's website. So there is always that option if you want to watch it. I think the subs are up to 30 now.

who? Funimation? well its basically just the episodes that are on the disks anyway
so they started posting them at the beginning of September when the 1st box set was coming out and they were trying to promote it.
