As one writer says, the web is filled with Florence and Mary performances, and they are average, at best. Listen to the backup singers, when she stops to speak. Without her voice, the songs lose everything.

IMHO, where she needs "help" is in the breath & muscular support of her voice, or, more to the point, the lack thereof.
If she were to study & use the Bel Canto techniques of "belly-breathing" & abdominal contraction, amongst others, her voice will sound 40 years younger, 5-10 more resonant & far more powerful.

No, I'm sorry to inform you that Diane's voice is completely gone. If anything, her sound system is designed to "correct" her voice. If it wasn't for the band and her "anonymous phony Supremes" backing her up, this would be a real tragedy. No, Diane's voice is shot! She needs to sit down.

He had zero interest in Flo or Mary as leads (like the rest of the industry) and the songs would have gone to Levi, Martha, Gladys and Brenda with varying degrees of success, but probably no #1's. I Love Her! But I have to admit, Mary Wilson's show with these same songs are better. Gonna watch some Mary videos on the tube of these same songs. I'm in a Supreme Diva mood
What kind of crack do you smoke because we all want some. Mary singing these songs are posted all over you tube and she is okay at best. And, you would expect her do to better than a decent job since she has no catalogue at all.
Mary sounds good on some of her jazz tunes, but I cant listen to her braying Supremes Classics,,,,,,ugh. She sounded so bad at a free concert here 2 years ago that people were leaving in droves after 10 minutes complaining about her voice being annoying.
Aww,,, It happens to the Best of Them, every once & awhile. I've seen that happen to others also, including Miss Ross. Everybody can't sound flawless everyday. I respect that with any icon performer who travels the world over & over. Happy New Year!!
I think Koach has a good idea. Be nice to hear Diana reinterpret these songs from this generational perspective -- both us her fans' and hers. I love her doing the old songs in more depth again live -- I just wish they were more compact and organized like when she did them with The Supremes -- I liked the jazzy old ending she gave to "World" in the '60s and '70s, and she lets "Hurry Love" drag on way too long.
Miss Ross's next album should be a new recording of the Supremes hits IMO. If she can't get Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong to do the backgrounds, I could happily accept the wonderful FLOS.
sure that would be a great idea...perhaps to do remakes of the originals, but i doubt it that miss. ross would do that regardless of whether mary and cindy would cooperate with her. She already has stated that she doesnt want to reunite anymore, that she's tried it before and it didnt work...so...
