  • Good night, merry Christmas, and happy holidays. :)

  • I just got the best feeling while watching this, thanks for putting it up and bringing back childhood memories :)

  • Can anyone please tell me the name of the song at the end credits? :)

  • @CshireCat The carol is known as the Sussex Carol (On Christmas Night All Christians Sing). Hope that's helpful.

  • "no more twist"

  • i also forgot about this.. dunno why i thought of it today.. i just watched the german version as i was young .. well watching it in english is much better because it's original! :D

  • spectacular

  • I always laughed at that cat. XD "Shall I come in and cut off your thrrrreads?"

  • I wish the mice that lived in my old apartment would have made me pretty clothes instead of chewing holes in my food boxes ^_^

  • this is such a wonderful story i remember it from being i child.... " a merry mouse in the mill" love it!

  • Of all the stories they did this was my favourite!

  • My brother and I have been saying "No more Twist!" since we saw this :D Although that must have been along time ago cause we were kids then, and are now 24 and 25 years old. I totally forgot where the words "No more Twist" came from and I can't believe I found it! I would never have guessed it was from a beatrix potter tale from long ago :D

    Thanks for posting!

  • i've had the words 'cherry twist' and 'yellow taffeta' in my head for weeks! now i know why :) what a lovely story thank you for sharing - i watched this every christmas just like so many here on an old video. thank you so much.

  • @eafb11 ahha me too

  • ''The stitches on those button-holes were so small...they looked as if they had been done by little mice'' - I love that last line

  • That line has haunted me for years; "No more twist", I could only remember snippets of this from years ago. We had an ancient VHS of it that I would always watch at Christmas. I'd forgotten so much of it...really surprised at how much I had forgotten. Really delightful. I feel so lucky to be a part of my generation, this was released the year I was born. They really don't make cartoons like this any more.

Also - Jude Law was the stable boy, apparently. How bizarre!

  • i wish that these would on at christmas it would be wonderful

  • lovely. <3

  • lol, the mice are pulling a cinderella!

  • NO MORE TWIST! Love it!

  • Just watched this and for a few minutes I felt like I was a very young child again without a care in the world. Lovely story.

  • absolutly prescious... thank you and GOD BLESS you for your posts... please NEVER remove this from youtube!! i love it, it made me cry... love b potter, and always will, not too much clean beautiful stuff for all ages left out there!!

  • Love IT!

  • I grew up with such a warming chilhood. Everything from Beatrix Potter to Disney Classics. Why has the generation now have digraded itself to trash I could only wonder. Thank you for uploading this!

  • its the most lovely story in the world

  • Such beautiful animation.

Can't believe the tailor is Ian Holm!!

Thank you so much for uploading this, brings back so many memories.

  • They just don't make them like this anymore. Damn shame

  • There was a line of the song cut off at the beginning.

  • I guess Simpkin is a feline equivalent of Mr Scrooge

  • the last song of this what is it called ithas gone right out of my head

  • Sussex Carol

  • The Sussex Carol.

  • It is so depressing flipping through the tv now and not seeing shows like this anymore =(

Beatrix Potter was such a big part of my childhood.

  • This makes me so happy to watch:)

I always loved Beatrix Potter stories as a child!

And believe it or not they've actually sent her stories on the Norwegian telly not too long ago, like they did when I was little! :)

  • I can only really repeat what FinalFantasia said: thank you so much for giving my childhood memories back to me! Sincerely, thank you. I remember watching this as a child, and for YEARS since, I've had that song (the carol sung at the beginning and end) in my head never quite remembering where it was from. It brought tears to my eyes to actually hear it again. I don't think they show this on tv anymore, and it's such a shame. It's truly beautiful. Thank you again for making it available. xx

  • this was a film i used to watch when i was a child! its amazing! and even better as i live in Gloucester! thank you so much for giving my childhood memories back to me!
