There were 2 models. The inline 6cyl came in the SC 300 (2jz-ge) only. The SC 400 (1uz-fe) came with the V8. You can easily tell just by their model #'s. SC 300 = 3.0L inline 6 -- SC 400 = 4.0L V8

lexus sc400/toyota soarer's really are great value for money these days. they are great cars but can be had for so cheap. crazy considering the original price tags and the features they pack. alot of people hardly know they exist. always looking for skylines, supra's or muscle cars. I'm glad in they have been overlooked a bit.. allowed me to get one for a good price lol. once you got them you are stuck with them though.. you can't get your money back. people want them for nothing.

@ashfooo because what ALOT of people dont realize you can put money in to a car and you are NOT getting that money back. i laugh my assssssssss of at my old friend who dumped 12 g's into a teg. bought it did a b16 swap carbon fiber hood and trunk, rare ass greddy exhuast and headers, and all sorts of things like that. he sold it for a think 3 grand. there is an example of that.

and personally i think the sc300's are more sought after then the sc400's because the 300's have the na 2jz

I have had my SC400 for 4 years.... All that has been needed was a starter and a coil pack (did both at the same time).... I also have done plugs,wires,caps,rotors just for basic maintenance. But other than that... nothing.

These cars are easy to work on IMO.

I own an SC400, very nice car sneaky powerfull lol, any time your not on a perfectly flat surface and you get about 1/4 of the way into the gas pedal dont be surprised to see a cloud of smoke behind you, as for people asking how much you can pick one up for i got my 92 for $800 and just had to replace a bumper cover and fender, for the most part a fixer upper SC i wouldnt pay more than 1500, a needs nothing 92 sc can go for $3500 to $4000 bucks, love my car by the way

Looking to buy a car soon, SC400 or mustang GT, like the 400 better, only thing is, its now at least 10 years old, up to 20 years old. I know I know the reliability of 400 will be better than a GT, but, parts, while can be had today, its less and less, and in 5 years or so? even if i rebuild the engine/tranny, its all those other parts, 500 for this censor, 250 for that thingy, that worries me. share anyone?

@hemet92544 If your gonna get a mustang get a Cobra.... GT's are cool but I would suggest gettin a 05+. I don't know what kind of budget your working with but if you can afford it get a 03-04 Cobra they're supercharged from the factory... Factory rated them at 390Hp but its more like 420hp at the crank..
