  • Would you need more hair than back-combed dreads for these to be as thick as the back-combed dreads?

  • wow , that's amazing :)

  • lol you're watching avatar

  • So am I right to assume that Silky KK is thicker than normal jumbo braid?? Can I use my steamer to seal these dreads if I don't have a flat iron?? Yours look amazing!

  • If i do this over my real dreads, will i be able to get the melted synthetic stuff off when i want to take them out?

  • Do you only make silky SE dreads? Because I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a DE silky dread. .

  • This is so cute and aa really easy way to do false dreads! I'm going to do mine like this!

  • lol i love the avatar show in the background

  • That is very cool and inventive

  • it sounds like it hurts ?

  • can you do this with your hair because she says go get some hair?

  • what is the towel for?

  • @nyappy0loveancafe so you dont burn your hair

  • cool, but how do you put it in????

  • @Cherishyaya

Thats what i wanna know too. if u find out let me know!

  • @Cherishyaya

Thats what i wanna know too. if u find out let me know!

  • just a little tip here; it's a little easier to just twist the dread, put a towel over it that spray water on before using the flattening iron. and the water don't have to be warm, you can just get "normal water" or whatever I should call it :') at least that's how I like to make my dreads ^^ I really like how yours turned out, I love silky dreads - they're so shiny : D

  • lol avatar in da back nice lmao

  • is there a video where you also describe how to put the dreads in? and can you combine them with "natural" silky dreads?

  • This tutorial is awesome. Much easier then the way i was gonna do it and i like how you have it all smooth. Thanx for postin this up. =)

    5/5

  • You see how ridiculous you come off in front of everyone? Don't be so serious. Hairstyles is suppose to be fun! I did this tut for those that liker the look, but do not want to commit. Real dreads is a big step that some of us rather not take. Good for you and your beliefs, but how about you not be so judgmental and let everyone else have the right to do what they choose with their own hair...THANK YOU!

    p.s. dreads..like a ponytail..is a hairstyle.....not a way of life.

  • @thesirenphoenix she never said this was a way of life. having dreads is a PERSONAL CHOICE and COMMITMENT! And shes right. some people do not have the time to sit around and get back combed twists. So how about you stop being judgemental. this comment you left is kinda idiotic and makes you look dumb because you judge people based off of what they say!

  • @TheOfficialDivo28 Normally I don't pay attention to comments, especially on my old youtube. BUT here I go! Now Though I did say that, it was more so a statement not pointing towards her but just something to be said. I came back to read what I wrote and saw nothing "Dumb" in it. Considering I get alot of comments and mail about real dreads, I wanted to put that out in the open . And if someone wants real dreads they should never watch my videos.

  • @thesirenphoenix Oh, I wasnt saying you said it. I was talking to Ashes069. Im sorry! Dont hate me! :-)

  • @thesirenphoenix you are really dumb, LOCKS are a LIFESTYLE!!!!!!!!! not a one-time thing, you are a disgrace

  • @Xxmanny99xX Once again. it's a hairstyle. I mean if you want to sit around and let your hair nap up by never ever touching it..you know the old school dreading method. Get it done. I don't care what you believe in. You do you...and everyone else will do them. take care.

P.s. I also do Permanent dreading and I know a lot of people that get tired of them and just cut them out...So yeah..HAIRSTYLE.

  • @Xxmanny99xX no you are a disgrace, posting u took heroin on a ice-t song page and now telling someone ells they are a disgrace while clearly u don't know nohting!!! Rasta is a lifestyle/religion which doesn't require dreadlocks to make it authentic, it's about the Inity & love for humanities Irator Jah, but I'm sure u bald head already knew!!!

  • @merlijnist its a joke im drug free its an inside joke u ignorsnt bald head hahahahahahahaha

  • @Xxmanny99xX good for you that you that ur drug free whoohaa, but ur moronic mind can't seem to comprehend the slightest clue that that was not the point, u tell someone ells their being dumb while clearly you talk out of your ass, that is somewhat ironic!!! and my dreads are not very long yet but still growing so my head aint bald bwoy!!!

  • @merlijnist ur talkinh just to sound smart and ur not even a dready you ignorsnt bald head

ps i have a clean buzzcut and my edges r straight as life hahahahahahahaa

  • @Xxmanny99xX u keep talking like a sheep, which is fine with me coz u keep proofing ur stupidity coming forth outa arrogance, well good for you, grow some dreads maybe u'll get some sense in ur (bald)head!!! by the way this is the last response u get from me coz ur discussions are pointless!!! peace from Zion to I & I!!!

  • @merlijnist just so you know, rastas reject western society so u shouldnt be on the computer hahaha u a FAKE rasta

  • @thesirenphoenix while I agree with you that hairstyles should be fun and for people to experiment, dreads are a way of life to many people. Living in NY, I know a bunch of rastas who would be a little offended by that comment. I do get your point though. Not everyone is a rasta lol and doing it for certain reasons other than the look which is fine. Just how Egyptians used charcoal for eye makeup to highlight the "lamp to the soul" we use it just to be sexy. To each his own and nice tutorial!

  • Real dreads are nasty?...WOW!!!

  • Yes they are!

  • Maybe not nasty in terms of unhygienic or anything, but it does damage the hair and after a certain length, bald spots start to appear.

  • @Ashes069 hmm... I dont wanna give ya that one. They are NOT nasty!! give me some reasons to why it should be!

  • True True they don't last as long as combback, BUT, this is a tut for people they want something now.! lol

  • @thesirenphoenix After making them, how do you attach them to your head?? LOL.

  • @jamcankk I was wondering that to x

  • @jamcankk there's loads of tutorials to show you how

  • @thesirenphoenix how do you get these in?! I have somethin similar to a cassie mohawk...my hair is really long in the middle, and curly, should i straighten my hair first? and again...how do you get these in!? Thanx

  • the only problem with those, is that they brake later on..... and it takes about the same time doin the backcombing and then just twist and steam or boil them :P The fabric made once are made in this way, and you can just were them once, though... they are looking nice.. aslong as they are new :P

  • can you do it with real hair?

  • You and this video just saved me close to 127.00on loxs. i bought my own hair and did my self and all ispent was 27 dollers.your the shit!! ^^

  • OMG you were watching Avatar

  • can you put wax in there to make them last longer? nice dreads. awesome.

  • BUT HOW DO U PUT THEM IN

  • ya pull youe hair thru the loop and braid your hair into the dread then elastic band that shit

  • this doesnt work ive tryed it....they just unrevel

  • only way to do proper dreads is to let jah father grow them his way,ITALLY. fire bun babylon system for trying to duplicate something so beautiful.FIRE BUN

  • really cool! Im a hairdresser and makeup artist, and this is such a great way to do dreads!!!! I really want to thank you!!!!

  • you do realise that its the back combing that makes the dread strong?

with no back combing you will only see them last a short time before they start to unravel, and look TATTY

ever wore Elysee Stars? if you have you will see my point.

if you want proper sturdy dreads that can be made to look silky and slik, then get a proper dread artist to make you some, or take the time to learn how to back comb properly. its not hard really.

  • These are bound to unravel and for all the time your saving your going to have to spend double the time resealing and backcombing when you want to do them right

  • ah sweet, finally a video on silky dreads. I read other sites about how to make them and everything they said just flew across my head. they were like braid the hair until theres no more natural hair, leave a section of synth hair out about 2/3 out, back comb the rest of the hair from the braid. and wrap the rest of the section that was left out by using spirit gum to seal it and blow dry the hell out of it...

this seemed a little excessive, but your tutorial was like totally what i need.

  • Wow; thanks!

  • avatar in the backround

  • i tryed this way but it wouldnt sill rite lol

  • your amazingg thank yah!

  • these look soo amazing!!

    :)

    yey thanks for the vid!

  • Comment removed

  • "Here it cookin'?" Grrl, you're wayy too beautiful for your own good! Damn good job on the silky dreads.

  • thank you!!!!

You help me really a lot!!!

    =)

  • Brilliant i was wondering how to make smooth dreads just wondering if you can use a steamer for this method or does it work better with the wet cloth and flat iron as il be making dreads for my sister and she wants smooth ones and was wondering if you can make transitional dreads this way?

  • brilliant. this may solve my kinky dread issue synthethic can be ugly to work with....

  • does this work with real hair? and if it will how long will they stay in? thanks (: this really helped!

  • it doesnt work with real hair. when you seal the "dread" you are fusing the plastic-like fiber it comtains, which is why you can only make dreads this way with synthetic types of hair. Srry

  • I made a few this way, they looked great but used a lot more hair and looked much smaller, taking more hair, making me run out xD

  • omg..i love it

ur just like we are doing it ghetto style today...

    lol

  • This worked really well but they ware kind of thin for my tastes, I guess i should have used more hair but I feel that back combing gives it that extra puff.

  • wow...thats really neat. i like that definitely subscribing to your videos!!

  • tehe shes watching the last air bender lmao

  • Is this natural or artificial hair?

  • eso no son dreadlocks

  • where did you get the flat iron from i like it

  • this method is very easy, however the hair does unravel fairly quickly.

i've found that burning the hair with a straightener that gets extremely hot will keep that from happening.

  • 'we're doing a ghetto style 2day folks' XD

  • Her dreads are the shit trust me i have her and her friend on my friends list...dont ask me though for therenames but ive seen her dread creations and there AMAZING!

  • ghettolicious P:

  • Yay, Avatar on the TV!. And you did a good job girl !

  • niger rigged that shyt!!

  • Hey phoenix, I was just dropping by again to thank you for the method, it works great. I did my first DEs this weekend and they are amazing.

  • if ghetto style is the easy way then call me ghetto.

  • oo and an other question can i also do Transitional Dreads with the same way?

can i use boiling water to seall them?

the video is really helpful because i suk in back combing please answer me PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

    dreads are awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

or someone else but PLEASE i need an answer

don t hear the people that make bad comments about you

  • Wtf? Do you mean "traditional" as in "with real human hair"? Well then I guess you missunderstood the gerneral idea of heat-sealing synthetic hair.

  • no i think they mean transitional as in more than one color and one dread. And i don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

  • she/he wrote transitional not traditional

  • she i m girl

  • yes you can do transitional Dreads the same way i use boiling water its the best method cause the dreads come out smooth and not all hard and burnt. just twist tight and dip the top part of the dread first in the water then work your way down...any other questions id like to help

  • THANKS VERY MUCH :D

  • i've never tried dreads without backcombing or using the stove. i'll have to give this a try.

my question is are you using regular kanekalon or the silky kanekalon? it looks like the regular but i just want to be sure.

  • i know dreads are parmenent but can u remove this one ?

  • can i do candy dreads with the same way?

  • why because we don't want to commit...why do you care what others do to their hair? Do you also get mad when people dye their hair? Rather them be born with pink hair huh?

  • how come?

  • cuz they didnt work for it

  • oh i understand you

but why not make it easier on ur self..

  • the eazy way is not always the best way.

  • Avatar's on.

  • hey do you reuse ur fake dreads once u have used them once? or do you keep them, coz i was wondering if these get ratty after lots of use.

  • on the Tv... there is Avatar. xD -yeah, I saw Sokka-

  • Thank you this is way faster. Is there a diff between synthetic fiber and kanekalon in your opinion as far as making falls?

  • I think this is a wonderful method but i'm having a bit of a problem. when i steam the fibers they arent really sealing....they are staying twisted but not tight. any suggestions?

  • Wow rly nice

  • is there no disadvantage in doing it without backcoming

? pllease tell me. so i know if i should go on normaly or start to do it without.

    I thank you.

  • WOW. I never would have thought of the flat iron over the wet cloth... that's friggin Einstein. O_O

  • you rock siren

! thanx so much or the tuturial? do you knpow how to do brazilian twist as well...

  • oh mein gott (XD)

    you are so pretty!!

  • nice one sirenphoenix..! :D

  • thanxx and here you watching avatar the last airbender

  • amazing...thanks! :D

  • would you be able to curl these or candycane them (somehow) afterwards?

    i'm a curious newb..

  • well, i figured out how to candycane these!!

..still curious about the curl tho...

  • i like to poon the ultimate defender while hes on the john

  • would it damage the flat iron?

  • thank you so much, this is way better than backcombing

  • woah thanks hon!

    its greatttt

  • those locks take long im getting locks im hapyy and i didnt get um when i was like a babby but ill get um now with my parent permition ofcourse cus im only 14

  • I love this! thx so much!

Does it matter which length the natural hair is when putting in synth-dreads??

  • Does it have to be real hair, can it be synthetic & what temperature did you use on your flatiron? How big of a band do you use to put them on? Sorry if these are redundant questions but I'm new at this, I'd like to do this today & this is really helpful.

  • Its kenekalon fibre, human hair wont react to heat this way.
