  • the # 1 component in fuel cleaner is kerosene......

  • @mkubiak67 Not in STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner. The actives in the cleaners that actually work are PIBs or PEAs. Some have kerosene or other petroleum distillates as carriers for the detergents. Some don't have detergents and don't do anything.

  • @jcableman That is what kerosene is a "petroleum distillates” Petroleum distillates are just another fancy word for “fuel oil” I have read the MSDS on STP fuel and the fist thing is Kerosene.

And what is up with the STP Ethanol stuff? “Cleans away Ethanol deposits? I just put a container of Ethanol and the only residue left behind was from the 10% gas,

Comparing by volume I evaporated the same amount of gas per the same volume of E85 weaving the beakers left me with the same residue.

  • @mkubiak67 Gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and fuel oil are all petroleum distillates, just different cuts. MSDSs are never exact on what is in a product. The amount of JetA varies with the product. STP uses JetA to carry the detergents in its products. As to ethanol, at low levels of ethanol more deposits are created than without ethanol at high levels there can be less deposits, but more corrosion. The source of the ethanol also plays a part in the amount of deposits that are created..

  • this is cool but I'm way more amazed at the fiber optic camera than the STP fuel treatment...

  • 5000 Miles? I just tore my v6 tacoma with 178k down and there was way less deposits on it than on the stp motor? that thing must run TERRIBLE for it to build up so much crap on the piston and valves after 5000 miles.

  • @cumminsho13 Yeah, okay. With no evidence of any pictures or a video. Of this miraculous Jap engine being torn down.

  • Most of these adiditives are a farce....they really do nothing and I wouldn't recomend using them. The simplest way to keep your car running clean and well is to look after it with regular oil/filter changes and tune ups!!

  • @gooseknack Oil and filter changes won't deal with fuel system deposits. Several of the big auto manufacturers got together to try and get the oil companies to put more detergent in their fuel because the fuel was causing problems with fuel injectors and intake valves. This was called Top Tier gasoline. STP, Techron, and Gumout are all good products with levels of detergent which will help your car. Many shops will add these products when they do a tune up.

  • seafoam is good to

  • @hockeyfreak043 Sea Foam will not clean the deposits out of an engine. It only contains isopropylalcohol, kerosene, and mineral oil. Add it to your gasoline and the deposits will still be there, except in the combustion chamber where there may be even more deposits from the mineral oil.

  • @jcableman after i read the comment about SeaFoam 'leaving deposits', i nearly fell out of my chair from laughing.. There's a reason autozone and wal-mart sell STP octane boosters for $2 each and SeaFoam and Lucas treatments for $12.

SeaFoam actually removes the deposits. STP on the other hand doesn't do a thing.

  • @TheRealestEver The SAE test data doesn't agree with you. STP, Gumout, Valvoline, Chevron all make good products with chemistry that works. Sea Foam and Lucas UpperCylinder... do not. Also, Sea Foam doesn't make an octane booster.

  • STP is really good. I am using this and i am satisfied! Try it. (I have Opel Astra 1.4 16V on 93 205 miles)

  • 5000 miles brand new and it's dirty like that ?

Those things ran a way too rich and sucked tons of blowby.

  • @michaelovitch Agreed! A few years ago, I pulled the head off after 10 years and almost 100,000km...the inlet ports, valves were clean and combustion chambers and pistons only had a light covering of carbon that practically rubbed off by hand. I hadn't run any cleaners what so ever...just kept it well tuned and changed the oil and filter every 3 months...(it's an australian built 1970 model Holden 6 cylinder, the mighty "186" red motor with carburation and points ignition!)

  • @gooseknack

    Yep.

    Maintenance is the key.

products like that are quite a joke.

  • @michaelovitch These are honda generator engines. The deposits are extreme, but not caused by running rich or blow by. The fuel used was on the lower quality end of what is available at gas stations.

  • @jcableman

    Ok thanks.

  • @jcableman that would be good enough to explain it. I always fill up at Costco. They have some of the best and cheapest gas in the market. And uses more detergents than shell and chevron.

  • its called octane booster. or higher grade gasoline.

or do what ive done for the past 20,000 miles is mid grade with octane booster.

and it looks identical to what happened to this engine after the fuel treatment.

  • @aaronzack14 not all octane boosters contain detergents for removing deposits. Octane boosters raise the temperature at which the fuel will ignite which helps prevent preignition. If you want to clean deposits, you need PIB or PEA detergents. No octane booster will clean like STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner.

  • @jcableman exactly, and some boosters dont do anything at all. but i dont use STP for my car, i use it for my yard equipment. i use a different booster, which is homemade. its a alcohol and aviation fuel mix for my car.

  • I'm a real scientist look i'm wear a White coat,...

  • @MrAlperry Clothes make the man. ; )

  • @jcableman so much for it being the woman!

  • @MrAlperry And you have no basic spelling and grammar skills, idiot.

  • hahahaha LOL that made me laugh too

  • 0:04 "Cheap scientist for STP" that made me laugh lol

  • @elitecssplayer Like most scientist, its better not to have us talk in front of cameras.
