  • I immediately thought 150 million kilometers, and 93 million miles was closest. Too easy.

  • WAY TOO EASY FOR $1,000,000 COMPARED TO JOE TRELA!!!

  • I won the million dollar question.. Honestly I answered 93 million , no cheat...

  • Such a worthy winner! The last question was easy. But getting there. Like fighting trough the trenches in WWI.

  • Attention high school children:

When you grow up and get a real job, how far away the sun is stops mattering, and you have to fill your head with actually important information. This is why they ask these kinds of questions.

  • @johnnyisagoodbird When you get to 1 million dollars, he didn't have easy questions otherwise, you very probably know that, even though "you have to fill your head with actually important information". And then again, your head is not a hard drive from which you can simply delete useless stuff.

This question wasn't hard, I would put it for like 16000 or 32000 dollars.

  • Anybody can sit behind a keyboard and say "I could have done that", or "That was so easy", etc...the entire country was watching this guy and he was under an enourmous amount of pressure, I guarantee most of you would have choked.

  • lolz, 500,000 was impossible but he got lucky on the call, this is easy, xfd.

  • You've got to be kidding me...

THIS for a million? Then again, 40% of Americans don't know that the sun is a star.

  • omg i totally learned this in like 6th grade science! WTF!!!!!!!

  • i learned that million dollar question when i was 4. the fun of reading random astronomy books for kids. luckiest guy!

  • OMG I got 3 right answer for 1 million question

  • this should have been a 1k question

  • This was so easy, it was insane.

  • @komedydude As Dan Blonsky said, this could have been the $4000 question

  • Why was the million dollar question so friggin' easy ?!?!?!

  • I wonder if the computer accidentally skipped ahead 1 question after he answered his $500,000 question, and this was supposed to be the next contestants $100 question? BTW, why does the $1,000,000 question music sound different than it normally sounds?

  • I LEARNED THAT IN 8TH GRADE.

    Dan, you lucky bastard.

  • what the hell, that was easy

  • Not only is that a ridiculously easy question, but once again, you could guess it based merely on the answers provided. Three of the four answers have 9 and then 3 in that order, which rules out 39. Half of the answers have two integer digits, putting 9.3 and 193 are on the extremes. Every answer was clearly constructed around the number 93, a computer could have guessed this probabilistically by doing a quick deviation calculation. A MUCH harder set of answers would be 63, 73, 83, 93.

  • I think the Mother was more excited than he was.

  • @tpir1972 Probably because he's a lawyer in Miami so he could easily be making six figures already.

  • Was Regis still working with Kathie Lee Gifford by this point?

  • That's why this as an EASY $1,000,000 question the 14th one was TOUGH, the producers thought no one would EVER get it

  • The bottom line is the guy won the million dollars with the questions that were set before him, no matter how "easy" we think they might be. We should stop analyzing the difficulty of the questions and saying "this question was too easy or difficult for a particular dollar level" and just enjoy the damn show.

  • This must be a joke, right? In our country there was only one person who answered 13th question correctly. Some of the questions were so difficult, that we couldn't find answers even in books, internet etc.

  • How can you say it was an easy question? I wonder what you guys learn at school... We don´t learn distances between planets, that´s for sure.

  • guys.. watch his full run the questions he had to get there were hard as hellllllllllll

  • he is lucky

  • lol this is million dollar question ?!

  • I remember that the producers started demanding harder questions after a few episodes when this show started. Good grief the million dollar question was something I learned in the 3rd grade.

  • damn thats easy, knew it before the answers were even read out. only million dollar question so far out of the ones ive watched though

  • I have to agree with you mrjohnnynitro. Even though I wouldn't know that question.

  • i loved his expression once Regis said "you won a million dollars!!"

  • Of all the questions for 1million dollars IMO, this is the only one I can say is easy. The others (some) I got right, guessing with logic, this is fucking easy.

  • I knew this because of a Wu-Tang Clan song.

  • @MrInhibitor i only commented about it because he was making fun of someone who didn't know something in the process of doing it.

  • WOW I KNEW THIS SENCE LIKE 2ND GRADE

  • @travisvshero you knew this.. but not how to spell the word 'since'?

  • What an easy question for 1M Dollars.

    150.000.000 Kilometers / 1,6 km per mile --> 93M miles.

  • and i dont mean that thats the right way to count it. its just the way i count it in my head (at 3am)

  • 8mins light to earth, light goes 300 000km/sec.. 10sec x 300 000 --> 3 000 000 x 6 = 18 000 000. so 1min is 18 000 000km

    then might aswell do 4 x 36 instead of 8 x 18

    36 + 36 + 36 + 36 = 144km (i used fingers for counting here)

cant remember exactly how the converting to miles goes but it definitely has to be 93miles

thats i thought it in my mind without paper n stuff

  • You even typed it out urself, its single digit multiplication, do u honestly think thats hard for anybody older than 10? You seriously underestimate the intelligence of people.

Also the answer needs to be converted to miles, so its actually 8x60x300000000/1.6. Even so, its a joke.

  • Wow the million dollar question is easy, even if u don't know the exact answer right away. Light travels at 3x10^8 m/s and it takes 8 minutes for it to travel from the sun to the earth. Do the math, its child's play

  • @holdemehha

    8X60X300000000

dude without a calculator or even pen and paper,im pretty sure you wont be able to calculate that in your head with the spotlight and whole audience looking down at you

  • He was only 34 at the time this happened. He looks way older. Glad for him.

  • im 12 and i know this

  • youtube.com/watch?v=-dgdXyLbXro

Dan Blonsky actually returned to the Show and played Millionaire AGAIN for the champions edition! See it here!

  • WUN MIYYAN DALLAS!

  • Comment removed

  • What the fuck? I knew the answer this question in the 2nd grade, its common knowledge.....

  • @OUSOONERSFTW You can answer it in 2nd grade, but can you answer it now if you are sitting in the hot seat? Even if you can answer the final question doesn't mean you can answer all of the questions. If you are that confident, then you probably should go and win it.

  • takes approx. 9 min for the light of the sun to reach the earth

thats 540 sec, and the speed of light is 300 000 000 km/sec, so thats 162 000 000 km multiplied by 0.6 equals 97,2 million miles

  • THAT"S the final question?! Are you fucking serious?

  • john carpenters last question was easier but im more familiar with politics that with science

  • damn... i'm german.. the only difficulty was to convert the unit, the answer i knew before he gives the options...

  • c'mon... im a 9 year old and i know that its 93 million.

  • oh my, how can this be the million dollar question?

  • as soon Regis read the question he just thought to himself "nigga are you serious with this question?!"

  • what the fuck of question is this?!?!?!?

  • lol its easy

    die amis habens leicht ;)

  • I learned this in 1st grade!

  • A bet he had some amazing sex with mom that night!

  • i didnt know any answer :(

  • My goodness how easy.....

  • He blew off that Million Dollar Accolade like dust of his jacket. Just another tuesday for this fuckin Boss.

  • this question was fucking easy i covered this in eighth grade -_-

  • @hispaniccheese i covered it in grade FIVE!!!

  • @hispaniccheese okay lets you try to remember that in 30 years or so

  • Well I will give him that the questions 1-14 were tough. But the sun's distance??? WTF. For a million dollars???

  • I knew the answer before the answers came up! Such a easy question for $1,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Scrabbler27 true

  • SUCH AN EASY QUESTION

  • @MarioLink106 usually the million dollar question is easy, the questions getting there were extremely hard.

  • dude whe nthe question was first asked....i asked myself out loud "are you fucking kidding me?" and then hid my eyes...because i should be a millionaire. it took me1.1 seconds to say 93 million.

  • @red44dragon

Let me guess, you're either in an astronomy class, or have been in one recently, right? It's not exactly common knowledge, and like the guy said, he probably hasn't had to know astronomy for 20 years.

  • I remember the Night this happened, I was running all over the House screaming YAY!!!!!!

  • I knew the million dollar question. :)

  • @Morphixx So did I, when can I get my check?

  • Basic mathematics would've won me a million. :D To be honest I don't know the distance (come on I am only 18) but I know from a child's book that it takes light 8 minutes to reach the Earth. From a basic physic I know that the speed of light is approx. 300 000 km/s (yes I'm from europe we have km) then I counted what distance it will reach in 8 minutes... boom million dollar answer that I didn't know :D (I know that mile=1,7 km) and I didn't use a paper so I could do it from hot seat... :D

  • holy shit, that last question was easy.

i didn't know almost any of the other questions and the last i was 100%.

  • I think this question WAS easy, but because of the answer choices, not because of the question itself. If the choices were something like 55M, 64M, 79M, and 93M, Dan might not have gone for it, because, as Dan noted, all of the choices revolve around the right answer.

  • How easy can this get??? i knew this fucking answer when i was 6 for fuck sake! i would answer this in a second and Regis Would be like wow that was fast and ill be like well... yea if its that easy then yes you can answer it fast :P

  • i fuckin learned that in the 4th grade, really

  • I knew it was around 150 million km,but miles...but I'd guess it anyhow...

  • I remember watching this guy on TV with my Dad. I was wearing a shirt with a picture of the earth on it, and around the top of it it said "The Earth is approximately 93 miles away from the sun." It was quite funny.

  • @sseasshark 93 miles away from the sun??? O_o umm we would be dead a long time ago if that was the case!

  • @Afroman2978 Thanks for correcting me, I forgot to put 93 "million"

    My bad :D

  • @sseasshark lol np

  • cant get an easy question for a million dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG, how can this really easy question be a '' One Million question ''? In Hungary everybody knows the aswer who ever learned physics or just ever turned on the tv...

  • anyone who has taken a proper physics class can answer in a second.

  • As an astrophysics major i facepalm at this question.

  • Such an easy question!

  • you may say this is easy for a kid... but what 30+ man, astronomers notwithstanding, regularly use this information??? Therefore, this ain't as easy as it looks, IMHO.

  • awwwwwwwwwwww, that was so easy. I haven't heard the answer yet and it's C.

  • um, I knew that.

  • I remember that the light is going for 8 minuetes from the sun!

This guy is astonishing! Questions were difficult, he wasn't really nervous. Love him!

  • Easiest million dollar question ever!!

  • all you gotta know is the speed of light, which I think a lot of people know

  • WTF?? my fourth grade little sister had that question on her science homework!!!

  • That was easy ~ 150M km.

  • knowledge pays

  • wow, his million dollar question is easy and dissapointing. I find his $500,000 question more enjoyable to watch

  • Why is the American who wants to be a milionaire easier then most others?

  • @Svennetony because we're dumber!

  • OMG this was too easy. I'm disappointed in these ?s

  • last question was sooo easy............i knew that light speed is 300 000 km per second, and light from sun gets to earth in 8,5 minutes............in kilometres it is 150 000 000 and 1 mile is 1,6km..........easy calculation.......150 Mkm is also AU

  • @adobe15 Hey, I did the exact same calculation.. in my country (a spanish speaking one) SI units are used instead of English units, so i had to convert between miles and kilometers as well.. kind of difficult to do the calculation in your mind though, because in the show you can't use a calculator, but really easy overall....

  • awesome

    awesome

    awesome

    awesome

    awesome xD

  • that last question was easy as hell.

  • STUPID granny takes all da money

  • ye very funny indeed, I would put that question at 250,000$ rank, not 1m oO

  • The Earth's distance from the sun is called an Astronomical Unit, abbreviated AU. Funny how this was a million dollar question.

  • He looks like peyton manning.

  • @evan06kirk not really

  • 10 years ago today.

  • easy

  • This was nice, but I still think John Carpenter's performance was better.

  • @oomblikkies

I agree, even though two-thirds of John carpenter's questions were way too easy.

  • by a long shot

  • @oomblikkies agreed. It was like a stroll in the park for Mr. Carpenter.

  • @oomblikkies carpenter got lucky, ok most of the questions were common knowledge, i would have gotten at least 250 thousand, the ones i was shaky on were dumb luck for him, he went to rutgers, they had the building names after the guy who found the cure for polio, his wifes high school had work done by the guy who did the glass pyramid, seriously.. it was a ton of dumb luck and common knowledge. that whole episode pissed me off when i watched the whole thing the questions were too easy

  • @oomblikkies Except John had a set of absurdly easy questions with the exception of the question on the devils tower.

  • @oomblikkies john carpenter's questions were easy (the vast majority of them)

  • @oomblikkies fuck yehh, he fucking went right through the questions like a fucking machine, john carpenter rules!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • 39 is too close . so after seeing 9.3 is there to confuse the real answer .. so 93 is must be the correct one. this kind of trick answer always in exam.

  • wow i knew that question

  • In my country, have this game show too.

And the question same this usually stands at 10th. It so easy for 1 Million USD.

  • lol at "everyone". For all your logic, you need some common sense.

  • really u can automatically caculate ?

  • Not everyone, but some could do that calculation in their head.

  • Why would you assume everyone knows the speed of light? Not everyone knows physics formulas either - even fundamental ones like v=d/t

  • Yeah, why would anyone possibly assume that there are other intelligent people on the planet....I mean you realize that by insulting this guys comment all you're doing is drawing light to the fact that you're a retard.

  • How does anyone not know v=d/t. How did they even graduate elementary school? or get their driver's license? When your driving 100km/h (Speed) you go 100 km (distance) in 1 hours (time). Speed =distance/time, its blatently obvious.

  • well.. this works if you know this about the 8 mins.. but what if not? as one could know about this, one could also know about 93 million. so your idea is not very clever...

  • Don't thumbs down him. Distance = Rate x Time the speed of light and how long it takes light to reach earth from the sun are relatively common knowledge if you graduated high school or watch the discovery channel. Thus, if you're not an invalid, you should be able to figure it out.

  • HAHA. His mom comes down happy and acts like. "MY MONEY" and takes the check =D

  • Reminds me of Tom Hanks for some reason.

  • I knew that shit in preschool.

  • Heck I knew this answer too. It's probably because they don't think people will make it this far so they don't really think through the question.

  • tht question is a scandal, far too easy!!

  • omg! that's tha esiest 1 million question ever xD

  • i'm a teen and i know the answer, but only because one year's theme at my school was space, and i studied everthing about it. but nice job.

  • would be extremely suck if that lady fell down the stair and he have to use the million dollars for he hospital bill

  • @heoquayhp Lool!

  • @heoquayhp you said it

  • What a pimp at 3:09

  • Comment removed

  • this question should have been like the 8,000 dollar question

  • yeah i dont know it but it sounds like something a lot of people would know.

  • Yep. The final question was a bit on the easy side for the million, but the rest of the game was a grind so he earned it.

  • Oh come on, they have to make the american version easy because americans are generally pretty stupid.

  • @ sumsimable: Don't be sad you have no million dollars and suck on a railroad.

  • yeah, every fifth grader might know this answer, but whats the chance they would remember the answer by the time they aged enough to be on the show?

  • you just dont get it.. this is a very hard question, a tricky one.. this is what would be happening in your head: "omg i know its 93 but this is a 1M dollar question.. what if its somekind of a trap ? what if its not?!?" and eventualy you would take the 0.5 and go home with a smile on your face

  • why does the mother hold the check??

  • Omg what a joke question haha

The German version is ten times harder lol

  • I don't get the UK vs. USA feud. It's a never-ending battle, so why bother? Honestly, it verges on the same level of taste as "yo' mama" jokes.

Thanks for posting this video. Loved it!

  • Yeah Yeah Yeah Blah Blah Blah "The ___ version is much harder than the US version" Get over it!...And you may have learned this in high school/college...but how long ago was that?...Man, I can't remember anything I learned in high school except there isn't a olympic sized pool on the roof...If you knew this answer without looking it up on Wikipedia/Google then (I'm sorry to tell you) YOU ARE A NERD. And trust me I know because I've been called that plenty of times. Hard Question Perfect answer

  • Not being cruel to Americans but the English version is way harder I mean way harder, but that has nothing to do with how smart people are I just think in the American version they want to see more winners and more money won its better for the show more money won more viewers better ratings more money for the network it makes sense.

  • The states has the smartest people in the world no question about that we just dont see them on television very often the people we see r the dumbest of the dumb & then people judge the whole country by it which is ridiculous all the smartest people in the world end up goin 2 the states to work live teach you name it if I was smart enough Id go to, its the American fuckin dream baby & everybody wants a piece of the pie especially smart people because they know which side their bread is buttered

  • sooo easy

  • XD this is so easy lol

  • Dude!! Astronomical Unit!! That was too easy!!

  • looool the American version is so easy compared to the UK one, probably because on average the people are not as bright ( I'm sorry but it's the truth)

  • Prove this

  • seriously? granted the only uk version ive seen is the major fraud one, but his million dollar question was what is a one followed by one zeros. i've seen $200 questions harder than that

  • also $1m is nowhere near as much as £1m

  • I learned this in Eighth Grade and in Earth Science in 10th and in Physics. Even I remembered it and I was awful at anything science related.

  • That was a easy $1 million question.

  • troppo semplice!

  • i dont think as some posters do that this is such an easy question, but what makes it a bit "tilted" is in dan's own comment that "everything revolves around that number", in that you have 9.3, 93, 193. You get rid of the 2 extremes, and that may have influenced his decison.

  • The music sounds a little different here than usual.

  • wow that is ez
