  • There couldn't have possibly been any other outcome for the battle, under those circumstances, than a Birtish victory.

Even a retarded monkey in charge of the RN fleet at Trafalgar would have won the day.

But I suppose the English needed somenone to call a hero and they found that cocky insubordinate prick, Nelson, at the proper time and place. It's kinda equivalent as to give a heroes welcome to the English national football team after having beaten San Marino away in an official game. lulz

  • @Sky1green I agree, Nelson's tactics weren't all that great. In fact, if the Franco-Spanish fleets had been properly manned, it would have been suicide, charging into a battle line with no wind...The leads ships would have been smashed and the ships behind them would all have to slow down to move around them, all this in the kill zone. Nelson was just lucky the Franco-Spanish fleet was just crap at the time.

  • @ltflak

The ships were ok. Some of them had suffered by being docked for a long time, but the problem was the french naval officers were complete turds, the spanish ships had good officers but deficient gunners (army artillry gunners instead of naval in many cases) and undermanned, inexperienced gang-pressed crews. Besides, the 2 fleets never formed a true line of battle. That's hard to do when you get 2 different navies and ships of various naval specifications trying to act together and

  • @ltflak

and with the wind favouring the Brits and hampering the combined fleet efforts to come up with a truely line of battle formation. In contrast, the British crews and gunners were superb and very experienced thanks to almost constant deployment at sea for over a long period of time, whereas the franco-spanish had been left blockaded.

  • ahahahaha this is very funny.... more than 200 years and they haven't accepted their defeat... you must to accept it, British royal navy was always superior...They needn't have more men neither ships to win, because their discipline was the best.

  • @BENJACHEMIST I Agree The British Always Had Naval Superiority. Just Naval.

  • @javi009z

hmmm... did you forget the redcoats? the best infantry ever...

  • R.I.P Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad (1769-1805 )

  • 2:58, does the guy look like russell crowe? by the way great vid Itflak

  • Beautiful !!

  • I guess why this video hasn't got more visits, I visit almost once a day, it is fantastic!!!

  • how do I go down lower than you can go and not with N like you are doing?

  • Best Video on tube

  • Yes, Nelson was killed, but it was his greatest victory. He was hit by a sharpshooter. HMS Victory survived and is currently in Portsmouth harbour serving as a naval museum.

  • @theodore671

not much of the old part, i heard that it was burned some years ago, and as the low part has to be repaired and changed often...

really not much of old Victory

  • How did you get such great camera angles.

  • Good video btw :)

  • Does nobody know what ALTERNATE is? seriously...its not meant to be what ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Tired of people spouting the obvious history behind the battle and the outcome of what COULD have happened.

  • you used my song from inception

  • Actually a victory at sea by the Spanish-French fleet does not mean total defeat for the British, The Spanish & the French still has to invade England to defeat the British Empire or capture most of its colonies overseas.

  • I thought the British completely crushed the Spain and France?

  • @jiexue123 They indeed did

  • @ltflak so in real life what were the casualties for both sides?

  • A Franco-Spanish Pyrrhic victory? The victory went to the British fleet and was very far from being pyrrhic, the British lost no ships at all, and their casualties were minimal. I think the video, though well-designed, is an exercise on wishful thinking.

  • @odalrich And what's wrong with that?

  • @ltflak Well, it's offensive to the great skill and courage of the British sailors and admirals for one thing. If you want to exercise wishful thinking, why not try it with something more of a close thing, like Waterloo? Now that really was a battle that could have been altered by a turn of luck. But in this battle, the french and spanish fleets were both massively inferior in their design and manning. It's just so unrealistic that it's painful to watch.

  • @TheSevenCamels You joking right? British ships sucked, built often out of rotting recycled wood. That's why they so often used captured French vessels instead, and the Spanish had some of the best ships ever built at the time. It was the poor condition of the crews that lead to the defeat of the Franco-Spanish fleet. So I'm sorry you were insulted at the idea that things could have gone differntly. Thankfully, you can make your own video and be absolutly devouted to history in every detail

  • @ltflak ʜᴇʜᴇʜᴇʜᴇʜ ʜᴇʜᴇʜᴇʜ!

  • @ltflak, ironically, the French had a better understanding of building ships than did their British arch rivals, but they have very terrible naval commanders, and their sailors aren't experienced seamen. They lacked excellent naval doctrine and discipline. I've read it from a book.

Jacques-Noël Sané is one of the most successful ship designers and builders in the Age of Sail.

  • @ltflak The French sea officers were useless, the state of maintenance of the Spanish ships was deplorable and manoeuvred very slowly, the gunners were from the Army and most of the time were seasick, and days before departure, many professional sailors at port had fled to avoid being press ganged. The two fleets were doomed from the very start. You could've made alternate battles with Hastings and Waterloo; there the losers had had the possibility of winning.

  • @odalrich Well, considering how the captain of the Redoubtable handled himself, if the captains of the Franco-Spanish fleet had been a bit more proactive, I think the battle would have been a wash, which is what I tried to show in my video.

  • @odalrich it does say alternate battle......

  • @odalrich

    Anyway, it says ALTERNATE BATTLE

  • lol master and commander quotes

  • if what all your Alternate comes true, napoleon will win, and that will be awesome!

  • how can you put the camera inside the ship, like inside on the cannon deck?

  • @werlops You have to unlock the camera, you can look up the process on google.

  • you sir have one of the best vid ever make on youtube.

  • pretty damn epic

  • dude coooooool

  • 0:31 Mind your french!

  • Luckily history played better :)

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot

luckily for YOU, for us is just the oposite ;)

  • @97anonymus Well someone had to win and someone had to lose.

  • @97anonymus Well someone had to win and someone had to lose.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot yeah, I know :)

  • Nearly knocked me out of my chair when i hear. Straight at them mister Moet! Straight at them sir!

    Love that line :)

  • you should have put the Spanish voices in the Spanish version

  • @97anonymus Where would I have found Spanish voices?

  • @ltflak download the spanish voices in cinetube in the case of pirates of caribbean, which are the more notable ones

  • one thing, how can I evacuate another ship or rescue the sailors that fell to the water???

  • Good Bye trinidad you will be in mi heard forever. Thas was the most terrible lose for mi country, Spain. Y like this video because it make an aletranitve final for the battle. ^^

  • @Metaladict97 +1 el santisima esta con nosotros xD

  • how can you see the ship from inside from so many different angles???, i only can see the right part from inside

  • Tsk Tsk. Sharpe would never have allowed this to happen.

  • Very well done.

  • Oh sry, i didn't see it was an alternate battle

  • And Nelson died in Victory

  • Victory didn't brake the line, only Royal Sovereing, when Victory tried to cut it between Santísima Trinidad and Bucentaure, Santísima Trinidad stopped, so the hole between them was closed and Victory fired on Bucentaure, which repeled it, and when Santísima Trinidad fired on Victory, this last one lost it's mizzenmast and was Temeraire which had to assist Victory.

Or did Victory cut the line AFTER what I'm saying???

If I'm wrong excuse me and correct me, but that's what i've read.

  • @97anonymus Yes, Victory did cut the line after Sovereign, between Redoutable and Bucntaure.

  • @ltflak

    ok, thanks

  • Why is it almost the same a Pirates of the Carribean? Anyway, good job on the video, I can't even get the camera to go places where yours has.

  • The video is very good, the only failure using a mexican accent when they speak the Spanish.

I am not mexican, I'm Spanish!!!!

  • @gordzaur Yeah, I realize that now, but still, I don't think I'd be able to get Pirates of the Carribean with Spanish accent dubs

  • @ltflak

    download it in cinetube.es

  • @gordzaur It's close enough. Y'know

  • We're about to be plunged in what would be.... *puts on sun glasses* Total War. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!

  • these are epicly filmed, you should go into the movie industry! :D

  • you used lines of "Pirates of the Caribbean" in spanish right?

  • Ugly win, but a win nonetheless. I prefer the East India Company game version of Trafalgar myself. And whatever you do never ever engage the British ships in melee unless you have a 2:1 advantage, else they'd just shoot you to pieces.

  • hehehe, excelent "what if"

  • I'm french and I hate Lord Nelson ^^ But I must admit that he was most brave and more intelligent than all the french admiral

  • @thejoosty1 The failure of the Spanish fleet was the fault of Villeneuve, to leave in search of the English instead of waiting, partly under pressure from Napoleon.

A bad day to be there.

    Greetings from Andalucía

  • @gordzaur haha thank you for your knowledge ;)

  • "Fortune favours the bold". Bit of an ambiguous title since Villeneauve was extremely nervous, even frightened by Nelson and his fleet. The French fleet was caught running back to Cadiz, i really wouldn't call that bold

  • everyone who complain about the information please : READ THE TITLE BEFORE COMPLAINING!

  • Lighten up guys. ltflak has given us an exciting, historical fiction video. It has great camera work, excellent pacing and an interesting story. What more do you want? He was merely entertaing an alternate take on the battle of Trafalgar, not trying to determine the course of an alternate world history. The amount of talent, ltflak has shown in this piece of work is extraordinary. As a novice (though improving) producer of NTW machinimas, I can truely say, that I am humbled by it. Salute

  • I like it.

  • I guess some people don't bother reading the description about this being an alternate reality battle. Nice work.

  • Wrong....

  • en votre reves

  • @hikarisalterio, I know that. Did you read the comments I was replying to?

  • Why is it for some people SO hard to read the title of this video ? " 'Alternate' Battle of Trafalgar "

It takes more effort to write down about this video being historical incorrect, and even writing down pages of history most people know by now. While it takes even less effort to either read the description or the title.

  • I dun believed that the admiral is still standing while his ship was sinking... XD

  • I Came (=P

    Nice work bro.

  • Anyone else like Russell Crowe's little speech?

  • weel done but it is a bullshit xD...no english ships sank and the santissima trinidad were dismasted before the beginning of the battle, then boarded for two times and then left to sink in a coming storm

  • @slateer55 Wait, the Santissima Trinidad was demasted BEFORE the battle? By what?

  • @ltflak by english ships...she was sent ahead...i dont remember if voluntarily or involuntarily and cannonaded by britain first class ships

  • @ltflak

The HMS Royal Sovereign, flagship of Admiral Lord Collingwood, decimated the the Santisima Trinidad with the opening broadside of the battle. She was not defeated before the battle, but she also took no part in the battle...

  • @ltflak Santisima Trinidad was not sunked before the battle,no sunked in the battle and yes sunked after the battle.During the battle he fights alone against 6 english ships (including HMS Victory) and finally was boarded by British. (they want t own the ship,it was the biggest in that age) British captured it and want to carry it to Gibraltar, but the ship was so damaged and finally was sunked in coasts of Cadiz.

  • @slateer55 well this is the "The Alternate Battle of Trafalgar"

  • @slateer55 you cant begin an battle with an dismasted mast

  • awesome video man where did u get those blood effects?

  • @slateer55

santisima trinidad lost his masts at the battle , against Temeraire, I think

  • the music and the voice are by Pirati dei Caraibi! "i'm sorry for my english"

  • yo keep up your videos i like them alot the production quality is great

  • Exceptional work!

  • What I do is maintain the line, and fire coordinated chain shot at incoming British ships, after I knock off enough sails, I have the French fleet withdraw a bit, and reform a line and become shooting at the disabled British fleet, which is already distracted by the Spanish. Ususally it ends in a close call, honestly, the game should have let us command the Spanish as well, as they don't act historic anyway.

  • @ltflak Yup! That Santissima Trinidad stupidly went into the midst of all the Brits' ships and was captured by Victory which has less men.

  • @ltflak non of the Historical missions in the Total war series is 100% accuret

  • And they say superior numbers guarantee victory when boarding. Is that true?

  • Firepower is very important in naval battles and any player would know that he has a lack of it. As i said earlier, I've never won; my ships keep getting blasted to bits! My first strategy was to join in the fight directly. Kaboom! Blew up into smithereens. Second strategy: Let the Spanish take the beating first, then move fleet to edge of the map so I can only be attacked on 1 side. Epic failure. Flagship blew up. Set fire to ships behind and in front. Rout. How did YOU crush them?

  • En Lepanto la victoria y la muerte en Trafalgar.

  • lol love the Masters and Commanders speech at 1:49 well done

  • Had Nelson lost at Trafalgar and lost the Victory, he would have been relieved of command.

  • So how this could inflict the history, are the frenches going to invade GB?

  • @ORKSIZDABEST When, since there were heavy losses for the french fleet, and they will go to war with the Spanish, I can only assume a invasion of GB will only be possible if the French won Waterloo.

  • @ltflak if the French won waterloo they would still have too small an army, additionally the Russians would get involved with their fucking 600,000 men army of pissed of hardened veterans. The Russians would invade England and France, they would of fucked everyone, good thing the Russian emperor Alexander I drank a lot so he forgot about it, just joking but they left the idea, but the Russians wanted all of Europe but Austria and Prussia got involved.

  • @ltflak

Thats not the case. The battle of Trafalgar was key to the defense of Great Britain. Napoleons plan was to defeat the British fleet at Cape Trafalgar. This would leave the English channel undefended, therefore Napoleon could sail his invasion fleet over to the British isles unopposed. This however was not the case as the far outnumbered British fleet annihilated the Franco-Spanish fleets, and as a result, Fance did not control the channel. Therefore no invasion of Britain was possible.

  • @MrDeano324 But in this video. It's another way.

  • @ORKSIZDABEST in fact yes Napoleon tried once to invade GB but the british did know to convince the austrians and russians to attack France so Napoloen whas obligated to stop the invasion plan and focust on the eastern front where he getted his biggest victorie of his carrier the batle of Austerlitz

ps: when he was making his invading plan the french commander (of the french fleet) refused to engage against the royal navy

  • this was epic man!

  • amazing isn't it .....till the bitter end. thats some hard core shit going down with your ship takes courage and pride, honor and bravery

  • Press 0 for epic Benjamin Sisko intro!

  • Only one word can describe this machinima.

    Awesome...no...Fantastic...no...Stupendous...no...Colossal...no...

    Salute

  • also why is there provost marshal there in the end? on top of all ur bad info u think if nelson lived he wud be speaking to a lowly provost they were only the military police known as cowards for never fighting in battle

  • @MrAwesomal I'm assuming you mean the very end. It was because I couldn't recruit two generals in a custom battle, and thus had to pick a combat unit.

  • OMG ! BEAUTIFUL ! UNBELIEVABLE !

    Congratulations !

  • 6:11 ninja jump!!:)

  • Epicccccccccccccccc

  • Why Spanish talk with Mexican accent? xD

  • @beneitez87 Oh...opps.

  • @beneitez87 Mexicans speak Spanish!

  • @noelwym123 jajaja I know, I am from Spain, but in the video the spanish armada, use mexican accent ^^

  • I'm a better general than admiral. I often win my land battles but I've always failed to win Trafalgar. They've more guns than I do and my ships are in bad positions. Congrats anyway to those who won.

  • @noelwym123 I always fall at Trafalgar, despite that i win most of my naval battles, with worse odds. However, my land battles are mostly a carnage. Well, i'm better admiral myself, but this battle is my nemesis.

  • what's wrong with the captions?

  • @IAmTheAce5 Works fine for me.

  • The video is awesome

  • 7:48 smooth criminal

  • I love this video but I hate seeing the victory taken by the French of all people! in real life the french would turn tail and run!

  • @zyzor Racist

  • @zyzor, read a few history books or do a little online research before you say bullshit. In real life, the French won more wars than any other country in history. Fact.

  • man this is so cool, if i get a new computer I'll definitely get this game. I also like how in Napoleon total war unlike empire total war , the marines for the brits actually have the correct uniforms and the ships look more realistic.

  • Excellent video! well done :)

  • At 3:09 he look pretty calm when he screams Fire

  • el "santisima trinida" de napoleon total war es completamente distinto al verdadero...

parece un rebajado de 3 puentes.... y en el juego, al disparar al santisima trinidad este pierde más cañones al estar todos expuestos...

  • This was like a movie!

  • Viva la France y Viva our mong Eperador Napoleon

  • @glo726

A Great General, he's tactics, millitary knowhow and battlefeild intelligence was trully magnificent. But he met his match in Admiral Horatio Nelson and Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley...

  • I watched this like I was watching a movie ! Good job dude.

  • 3:40 to 4:35 it's like a real movie.

  • This sir is a masterpiece! I enjoyed every second! I'm surprised there isn't more views.

  • I have to ask, how did you lock the camera in place at 7:57?

  • @happycompy If your locked on to the unit when it "sinks", you stay locked on, but if cancel it, you wont be able to lock on to that unit again.

  • @ltflak Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • This was awesome, I especially loved the sinking at the end. Honestly it was a bit jarring though, without the sub-captions I wouldn't have really know what was happening. The constant close ups makes it intense, but at the expense of orientation.

  • ¿Hoy es un gran dia para morir'??

Dudo mucho que dijeran eso jeje, pero el video esta muy bien.

From where did you get the spanish voices? I think i heard something from Master and Commader.

    Really nice video.

  • @FishBrothersReturns That and PotC At World's End

  • that was awesome

  • Best ever!

    Nice work!

  • Epic.

  • It is a beautifull movie. But I have a question: How do you view into a ship that you van

    see the cannons?

  • Haha you got them all in the Pirates of the Caribbean, the soundtrack and even the words or sentences

  • Damm man. That is one excellent production!

  • how do you zoom in that close?

  • @weslanator45 Pressing "n" allows you to zoom in-game.

  • @ltflak Thanks i've had this game for months and never knew that

  • Excellent ! I didn't even expected that such a masterpiece was possible with a video game. Well done !

  • I have a question: How do you record this? Is there a cinematic editor or do you just simply use fraps ( and have the camera unlocked? ) while playing the replays? If the latter is true then how do you hide the UI.

  • @CostinMoroianu I accually just record during the battle, that gives me access to unique camera angle ablities not possible during replays. And yes I just use fraps. I hide the UI by simply enlarging the video so it's off screen.

  • @ltflak I see, thanks.

  • Extremely well cinematographed (I especially like shaking camera) and very well sounded (voices are good idea), however as non-historian I had no idea what was going on in the movie. Some map or aerial shots of tactics would make this a masterpiece.

  • @SGWG Course that would have ruined it, the AI is just messy, and can't even come close to looking historical like. Had to use close-ups only.

  • i am REALY impressed. this is AWESOME! +rep

  • Awsome how you make such grand battles and you make them with your own ending scenario Waterloo and Trafalgar I always found those battles very intresting. I wanted to make my own militarybattle for NTW but just when I had everything ready my account was disabled from steam that sucked now I cannotplay NTW.

  • how do you get the navy uniforsm for the british?

  • @englandfootball8 Mod, listed in the video info

  • The information of the description is bad:

Horatio Nelson dind´t survive in that battle, he dead by one spanish shooter shoot. and Villenueve, dind´t fight much cause he left the battle.

And the most important person in spanish band who has dead was admiralChurruca.

    Sorry for my english.

Horatio Nelson murió en la batalla de trafalgar, alcanzado por la bala de un tirador español. Villenueve huyó de la batalla, y posteriormente en francia fué tachado de cobarde y traidor. También murió Churruca.

  • @alrroga27 duh
