had been waiting to see this movie again since I was about 7 or 8. It was always in the back of my mind as an unforgettable piece of educational work that brought awareness to cancer. Back in the day I can only remember this movie and Minnie Ripperton when it came to cancer. Now it is so common it is so sad. Thanks for posting this movie. I will definitely have my kids watch.
Thanks for posting this movie! I also love this movie and also the sequil to it Sunshine Christmas which I am hoping someone has posted on here. I cried all over again...They don't make them like this anymore...Awesome and Thank You
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS MOVIE!!!! I have loved this movie since I first saw it at age 10. I have read the book numerious times, I also had to buy a newer copy due to condition of book. I ALSO had the album soundtrack.
I have searched and searched and searched for this movie.
The late Senator Edward Kennedy's son "Teddy Jr., had his right leg amputation when he was 12, in 1973 (by coincidence the same year this movie was released) due to a bone tumor called "osteo-sarcoma;" same as the character in the film. Ted Jr. is thankfully still alive and doing well.
@jsbach15 I wonder where Lynn would be now if she had went ahead with treatment. I guess treatment doesn't always work though, it did not work for Terry Fox.
@julielenore Hi julielenore. I remember Terry Fox! According to Wikipedia (not the best source) Terry was involved in an auto accident in Nov. Had pain in his right knee which worsened by Dec. and by March, he had to undergo surgery. We will never know if he tolerated the pain too long? He was a fine athlete who died way too early!
@jsbach15 There are several bone cancers, namely Osteogenic sarcoma (the most common), chondrosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and Synovial sarcoma, to name a few.
@Juliaflo Yes, that's correct. Publication of Edward Jr."s diagnosis at the time indicated the sacroma to be osteo in origin and I never read nor heard differently until your post.. Publications most likely have been updated since 1973, to provide details that weren't known or made available to the press; you can even find them stating "osteosarcoma" today.

It's so strange to see no car seats in those days.

There did have car seats in 1970s because my mom said they do have booster seats in 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

@jsbach15 Actually, Ted Kennedy's bone cancer was chondrosarcoma.

@Juliaflo Never knew they distinguished the tumor to any other sub-type.
