  • I can play everything minus the part at :45 its confusing the heck out of me

  • lole love the headbanging dude

and umm im selling my git if your interested?

  • its really skillfull playing but your playing guitar not bass lol

  • that is a bass...

  • yeah but i mean like you can hear the open e strings which are preti important to the song which are being missed to follow the lead guitar

  • open e string? If you are talking about the intro, then it's an open C# string. Know what tuning your in.

  • there bassist usually follows the guitar riffs :| so dont kno what ur talking about

  • THE SONG IS CALLED ALASKA

    I lol'd

  • he's making fun and/or acting like tommy who always does that lol

  • good stuff

    is that an ibanes?

  • cool head banging? at 1:10 - 1:17

    just messing, great playing.

  • you make the song too technical in the begining its rather simplistic

  • he's covering paul on the intro.

  • ooh i have that bass if its the 505

    v. nice but needs a bit more top end =]

  • is it just me or is that the lead guitar for alaska? it sounds like it in the intro

  • yeah im shadowing p.w.

  • this is probly a really stupid n00bey question, but for 5string does btbam tune up to C#F#BEG#? or down to G#C#F#BE? i can't seem to figure out which one for sure. =/

  • dan tunes the low B string to g# then c# and so on

  • this is right

  • the guy below me is right but i dont tune to dan, because i like paul too i play in his tuning but for bass, its a kind of unique tuning to me and you will see a lot of unique stuff thats i just do

    i tune C#,F#, B, E, A

  • Good job

  • thanks

  • hey does dan briggs use 2 or three fingers with his right hand???

  • i believe dan uses only 2 fingers for his picking hand, back in the day i was a real asshole when it came to picking ever note, so i used 3 fingers, dan does hammers and pulls, which there is nothing with doing, i just had the mentality that i want to be able to pick them too and then i can take it easy and use legato if i want

  • what do Between The Buried And Me tune to????

    On 5-string bass....obviously =P

  • they tune to C# standard

for dan on a 5 string it is G#,C#,F#,B,E

  • you rule...

  • thank you

  • this songs in c# standard tuning itd be cool if you did the solo completely but its still pretty cool it figured that out

  • i did most of the song and this was a long time ago so im better at not making mistakes and know more of the song than this shows

  • hey what tuneing does BTBAM use

  • IT has jsut occured to me that there was someone who did the tabs similair to, but they are not quite right. Mine has all the time markings and some writing. Also the username should be Conor Smyth

  • I just put it all on ultimate-guitar dot com tonight.

look for it in the next few days. enjoy

  • how long did it take u to learn this?

  • a while

  • it took me a few days with the book, I presume you learned it by ear?

  • i used tabs and ear

  • I've got the actual sheet music, and this is close, but the real one is alot more physically taxing.

  • please ellaborate, i mirror most of pauls stuff

  • I'll write the tabs on a site and give you the url.

  • oki doki

  • Hope you're in a band man.

  • im not i cant find one

  • u make me wanna play me bass...

verry good cover and good job on the guitar intro..it looks amazingly hard

  • it is very hard lol thank you

  • There is no excuse for you to be able to shadow a fuitar that well on a bass. dude I wish i was anywhere near that good... I've only been playing for 5 years though.

  • i started playing feb. of 05 its almost been 3 for me but thank you

  • well you deserve it bro. did you teach yourself? or take classes or lessons?

  • self taught everything

  • Holy fuck. Dude you're goddamn prodigy. I taught myself everything too, but I cant do sweeps and I barly know theory. Thats ridiculous. any tips on how i can teach myself shit like that?

  • well i mean its not aboslute self taught, if i did that then maby but i would say get some nice books that teach you

i got like music theory for dummies, i highlight stuff and wright down some things i think about it, and wright down extenuating ideas from it and stuff

i also have building a jazz vocabluary and miles davis books

  • haha, i noticed that......

trust me, if you ever get the book you'll think the songs are too easy lol

  • i actually was thining about getting it, yeah i know the bassist dosnt play the same thing, thats why i usually choose to shadow paul waggoner, hes a big infulence of mine and i like his style so i usually mirror his stuff,

i would get the book but at the moment im working on my ear so im doing stuff all by ear

  • in the bass book there aren't as many notes as you play in this song lol

  • lol i play waggoners part i the intro

  • bro i just got the alaska bass book, that shit is so fucking intense.

  • fosho thats sweet, i recently desided that i was only going to use tabs if i really really couldnt do it by ear, ive been learning ants of the sky that way im about 5 min in, and i did on and off of that for white walls im about 10 min into that one, viridan i did by ear most of it and then later corrected the fucked up parts, still i might get that book it does look sweet

  • yeah, i dont usually do tabs, but when i saw this, i couldnt turn it down...

Being able to play the entire alaska album perfectly?

    Im down.

  • lol i can play about 11 of their songs, i dont mess up that much either lol ive practed all of them so much hhaha

  • werd, thats the way to do it i guess.

I practice their songs alot, its just that if I learn them by ear, its really hard to decipher some parts, and tabs are really a pain in the ass because theyre mostly wrong.

So the bass book was a blessing for me...

  • oh yeah is it tabed or is it writtin in staff?

yeah i know what you mean, it is a pain by ear but it has its benifits

  • damn you should make a video of viridian, that bass solo is pretty tight, but its also not like extremly hard, it just sounds very pleasing to the ear.

  • i already have, check my youtube place

  • Dammnnn. You play in any bands man?

  • surprizingly i cant get into any, or fine any good ones for me

i can play this song better btw ahha

  • damn that sucks man. Its hard fittin really kickass bass players in bands now adays tho. Seems like every band just wants ya to hit the E a couple times and follow the bass drum. Sucks but hell Im sure you'll find a good one

  • oh yeah i will, someday i hope soon though, i wanna get started, ive learned hella btbam already and i need somebody comperable and with similar musical ambitions, which is similar to btbam, but more like thier olderstuff, but wtih some tracks light and nice

    all brutal though

  • ya like a Dream Theater sort of feel?

  • heavier

i love dream theater, but way heavier than that

i took colors off the internet, for the record in buying two albums for doing that

but when u hear it, its realy really progressive and softer than their normalness

i like that style but closer to alaskas album and silent cirus

but also with soft jazzyness in some of the songs

  • good luck

  • thanks, nearly impossible, i learned most of viridian from btbam today off their new record colors

  • OH MY GOD THAT IS SO G! Bass rapes. Hella nice lol, good job.

  • lol thank u

  • nice dance moves lol

  • thank you

  • what tuning you using i myself have the 6 string version of that bass its a nice bass i have to say im gonna give this a go
