  • Yes, like we can really trust the tobacco companies can't we? I mean they are only interested in societies well being. What crap, if there is the slightest chance that this will work on one smoker, then common sense says you must give it a chance. As has been said by plenty, if it wasn't going to reduce tobacco sales the tobacco companies would not be spending so much money on this bullshit campaign because sales are the only thing that motivates these bastards.

  • I don't tend to post angry comments on youtube but, fuck every wanker who had anything to do with this advert. Surreal is the effort that these fat cat pricks go to to sell fucking death. I hope their whiney rebuttal gets laughed out of the high court and everyone follows suit from Australia.

  • ruuubbbiiiishhhhh

  • its a load of crap ppl can make up their own minds and the govt dont care about our health cuz if they id they would ban it, they want the money from cigarette taxation but they want to look like they r doing good so they put out this plain packaging crap, all it is doing is making people pay more, putting more pressure on businesses and encouraging counterfeit from cheap indonesian sweatshops. ppl can make up their own minds stupid govt. this is almost as stupid as the carbon tax

  • If it won't work, why fight against it?

  • tobacco companies are fucking horrible they profit from the sale of carcinogenics As for the assholes promoting these ads let hope they get a nice dose of lung cancer

  • Pfft, how will plain packets make it harder for that actor to run his fictitious business? All I can take from that is that he is worried less people will take up smoking. Youth of the country's health vs. some 7/11, geez what's more important? :P Less drain on hospitals? Earlier they said they lost other sales due to the price of tabacco? If less people smoke, more money could go on those items again. If anyone relies on selling cancer to make a living they deserve to go out of business.

  • If it "won't work", why is Big Tobacco so worried? They must think we're idiots. No doubt we're going to see some fake youtube accounts run by soulless PR hacks pretending to be against Plain Packaging.

  • Fuck it, I quit smoking over a year ago. Im the healthiest I've ever been and I don't have to worry about dumbass bullshit like this. Pass it, dont pass it I don't give a fuck....

  • THERE ARE EVIDENCES THAT PEOPLE ARE DYING BY TOBACCO SMOKING! IF COMPANIES MADE BLINDFOLD AND SAYING THERE NO EVIDENCE THEN YOU SHOULD BELIEVE GOVERNMENT SAYING THAT " SMOKING CAN CAUSE BLINDNESS" coz companies would like blind people and brain wash.

  • IF WONT WORK THEN MAKE THE TOBACCO DRUG ILLEGAL , BAN, SHUT DOWN COMPANIES AND MAKE THEM OUT OF AUSTRALIA BY CARING COMMUNITY HEALTH!!

THOSE COMPANIES SELFISH, WANT PEOPLE DIE, SUFFER AND CRY AS LONG AS THEY GET PROFITS.

  • Tobacco taxation is actually an effective method of decreasing consumption. This ad lies.

  • If the Tobacco industry are so worried, then this must be a GREAT IDEA!

  • These ads are actually contradictions. If 'it wont work' what are they bothered about

True is BIG tobacco is s**t scarred - because plain packaging will spread throughout the world like wild fire. Smokers are very loyal to their brand, if their brand effectively disappears they may give up smoking.

  • If it won't work why would the alliance of australian retailers (aka the tobacco companies) pour millions of dollars into a major advertising campaign? Wouldn't that kind of be a waste of money

  • If it won't work why would the alliance of australian retailers (aka the tobacco companies) pour millions of dollars into a major advertising campaign? Wouldn't that kind of be a waste of money. your own advertising campaign kind of proves that this is something worth looking at.

  • maybe they should find some other sort of "business" that doesn't involve killing people

  • @DeclanRays Yeah like banning chocolate, or fluroide in the water, or aluminium in deodorants, LOL, ban one bad thing, ban them all. Beer drinkers won't like going without and that is very bad for them too.

  • @swissmaid Chocolate isn't bad for you. In fact it is good for you! How is that even related AT ALL!! Cigarettes are proven to cause cancer and disease, even in small amounts. Alcohol has health benefits in moderation. Cigarettes have NO benefits whatsoever. The only reason they aren't banned is because the tabacco companies have made everyone their bitch, they make profit selling cancer causing poison. It's not being banned anyway. Merely limiting advertising. What are you even trying to say?

  • it is UNPROVEN THAT IT WON'T WORK! LOL HA HA

  • Pathetic ad. If this is the best that the legal death drug dealers can do then they have no hope of success. The point of plain packaging is to discourage the attractiveness of the product to kids. Those who are addicted to nicotine will continue to buy their cancer sticks regardless of the pack.

  • First Coles pulled out, Now Woolies saying this is deceptive tobacco industry rubbish - good on them both. There's good research saying plain packaging is likely to work, especially on youth. So why won't Mr Abbott commit to it?

  • This is a terrible, cynical ploy by retailers, funded by the big tobacco companies. I'm all for supporting independent retailers, but are you seriously encouraging the increase in smoking?
