  • Sic transit gloria mundi.

  • Nice documentary.

  • ...that's Diana Ross hangin' out in the DJ booth @ 1:15.......

  • what's the name of the song playing? :) its good!!!

  • steve rubell seemed like a real creep, that said i would have loved to have been their in its heyday, if rubell had told me i could ,nt come in i would have taken off one of my platforms and hit him square in the face with it.

  • I worked there in 1982; after the heyday but it was still pretty wild

  • actually the name came from the street that the club was on.

  • Haven't thought about that time in a LONG

time so thanks for posting, nice montage too!

  • Was in NYC for 2 weeks from Chicago in March 1978 & went to 54 a bunch of times & everything said about it is true! During that time, also saw New York Dolls' Arthur "Killer" Kane's band-Corpse Grinders @CBGB & also saw the play "Neon Woman" starring Divine @Hurrah's! Now there's a slice o' late 70's for you! I was 17yrs old @the time & thankfully they didn't really card dressed up little girlies back then. What I'm even more thankful for is that I actually lived through it! Haven't thought abo

  • Im way to young to know about it but it looked like a GREAT time

  • i wish the touch of the 54 stripes me.. wonderfull time... thsx for loading..

  • why couldnt steve find investors for a new one?...he knows so much rich people!

  • Studio 54, Indeed the Premier Disco of its day and forever to be remembered in out hearts and minds. A time past, a time lost, but a time nonetheless. Here's to Studio 54. You are missed but in our minds you will be with us forever!

  • Remember it all SO well...it can never be recreated.

    :-(

  • Migliori in foto Travolta e Stallone. Seguono Al Pacino, Pelè, e citazione d'obbligo per debbie harry

  • como se llama la artista por favor?

  • What is the name of the song's video?

  • Umm, some drugf?? CONGRATS that is the biggest understatement that I have ever heard in my life.

  • Loads of memories xx

I love looking at thease photos, It looks like a fantastic club x

  • open back up

  • Why wasn't this place just called HELL?

  • @THEOPTIA

    Why?

  • Please what's the titel of this song ???

  • disco is great, this guy in 3:26 looks like N. Sarkozy

  • nice, absolutly nice work!

  • capolavoro!

  • falto fotos de michael jackson , él tambien iva a studios 64

  • this song is amazing.

  • The woman who appears with Telly Savalas is Régine

  • wow! this is priceles!

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mitici anni 70 intramontabili.

  • grrr....che mi sono persa!!!!!

  • 2:29 is "Divine!" She was big back in the days. RuPaul is NOTHING compared to what he was!

  • Comment removed

  • the best decade of ALL TIME.......

  • 4:32 is Twiggy with the Village Ppl

  • that is not twiggy, that is actress valerie perrine. Valerie was nominated for best actres oscar in 1975 for Lenny. Valerie also did a movie with the Village People.

  • Those were the days.....

  • 3.59 Björn Borg!

  • Madonna was at the original Studio 54 in 77 before she was famous. She was part of a dance troupe called "Disco Chick" that was hired to perform there on a regular basis.

  • The photo of Madonna 3:25 was from the closing party of her Virgin Tour 1985. It's not the 'original' Studio 54, but a reincarnaaation.

I asked Bianca Jagger (in London 2003) if she ever saw Madonna in the late 70s and she said no. Madonna came a little later, so frequented Danceteria and Mudd Club etc IN 81/82/83.

  • @DIETRICHCICCONE oh! i know that studio was IT! i can no believe u were friedns with her!

  • @DIETRICHCICCONE

Madonna wasn't even known until the early 1980's so there's no way she would've been there in even the late 70's, as she was working at Dunkin Donuts back then!

  • @thebakerman1 Madonna was at Studio 54 as well as dozens of other clubs during the very early-mid 80s. In fact, there's a famous shot of her talking to William Burroughs at 54, when she was a relatively unknown dancer/drummer. She spent most nights in clubs trying to get DJs to play her home-made cassette tapes. However, she was at the 'second' 54 which was re-opened in the mid 80s (not sure about exact dates on this one), after Steve Rubell finished serving time in prison for tax evasion.

  • @DIETRICHCICCONE HI THERE.ACTUALLY CHECK THE VIDEO "STUDIO54 A LOOK BACK"AND YOU"LL SEE THE QUEEN MADONNA AT 1:00

  • @DIETRICHCICCONE Studio is the club for poseurs,Vip & many more ma the best sound come to other famous club like Paradise garage(Larry Levan),Danceteria(Jellybean Benitez),The Loft(David Mancuso),FunHouse(Arthur Baker),but is a true legend!!!

  • Studio 54 started the nightclub generation. It set the tone for nightlife in NYC. I wouldn't want it to re-open b/c it wouldn't be the same. It's the same with NYC nightlife staples that have come and gone...Twilo, Palladuim, Sound Factory, Tunnel, Limelight. They can't be recreated.

  • @rfgstl i barbacked at all of the above clubs great venues whos time has passed , nyc is not good these days club wise ,,, its a farce

  • @rfgstl It did reopen (sorta) in the late 80s but it was nothing at all like the original. I was too young to attend Schrager/Rubell's 54 but was able to to check out the revamped version. By then it had turned into an impersonal hip-hop type club, complete with new owners, shitty music and lots of sleazy coke dealing and drunkards. The original clubs got replaced by trendy and commercialized clones(no creativity, novelty or excitement). Same happened w/ Woodstock 2 and Lollapalooza 3,4,5, etc.

  • @rfgstl I believe you are VERY right - I personally went to a Studio 54 party with one of the original DJ`s but it didn´t "happen"........I believe we must create something ourselves, for our own time.......

  • me and my friend are planning on reopening it in about 9 years ecause we will be old enough. trust me, the party isnt over yet.....

  • hahs sure

  • Great times that will never be duplicated.

  • He gotta little ass dick !! Lol !!! 2:44

  • I wonder how many people were concieved in 53

  • do you mean 54?

...and to answer your question, probably a lot of miscarriages.

  • Yes, I mean studio 54.

  • The name of the song in this video is: Frisky - You've Got Me Dancing In My Sleep 1979

  • What's the name of the song??

  • What's the name of the song? Pf, wish I was born like 50 years ago. Studio 54 must have been heaven! Disco's suck nowadays...

  • Dico will never die, bring back the old daYS

  • It was just an amazing era...

Disco will never die, I go often today in front of the Studio 54 (now a theatre again), and I listen Disco music on my Ipod, and I'm just dreaming we are in 1978, and I feel very good

  • Thank you for this video.

    buenos tiempos

  • wow... it'll never be the same you would need that generation of the late 70's and 80s which we all would probably go if the original DJs were spinning.... yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa

  • I hope they do Return the Orginal 54 back to the awesome glory days of Disco..

  • very good video !!

    studio 54 is unforgettable

  • 4:16 ESPAÑOL!!!!!!!! THE BEST!!!!

  • It looks wild, would have been great to have been there..

  • wow! Great to see this. Been there once and had a wild time...just do not remember much except that I had a great time!

  • I went to Studio 54 in May 1978. It was fun and it was very wild. The night I went I saw Potassa showed up looking like an egyptian goddess. My friend Mario Melian went up to dance on top of the speakers . Disco Sally (RIP) was also seen that night.

  • Do you happen to remember the exact date you were there? I ask because I was there on May 27, 1978 from around 9:00 pm until about 5:00 am - It was the BEST night of my life.

  • one night I was in the balcony, Rick James did a line and said, that shit makes me feel like superman. Janice Dickinsen did a line and said , it makes me feel like super model and did a pose. I believe she was the one to coin the phrase

  • "...many await the return of Studio 54..." It won't, not in the original garb.. It defined a generation. No tabus. No inhibitions. It was an extravagant, lavish, once in a lifetime party. Steve told me before he died "I never expected it to become what it did...I mean --- larger than life. I made some stupid mistakes. It might still be happening.". I told him, "No, Steve, Studio 54 died a natural, disco death that will probably never be reincarnated." He died a month later.

  • Im so proud to of been able to live during the Days of the Real Studio 54. The music never stopped even after the club closed. RIP Steve Miss ya

  • at 5:31 with the Village People// Isn't that Twiggy?

  • i wish i was born in the 60s so i could experience 54.

  • silly u would be old and waisted by now :-D and its only retrospectively when it seams so cool. in fact it was the same snobbistic society of careless consume and waste. today's pee didi is almost the same :-P
