I use to only play with the jenner, making Atlas and Catapult pilots look like noobs. Run fast at an angle, jet jump over the head and alpha strike to the gyros from behind. The best shot of all time was to jump high and hit the back of the jenner. It would lay paralyzed on the ground. Then you just walk up finish the kill. They should post this game online for free; i would still play it.

MPBT on AOL was my first ever online game - think I was about 10 or 11 years old. Absolutely loved playing games like MPBT, Air Warrior, Aliens Online, Magestorm, and Legends of Kesmai. So many great memories from AOL and Gamestorm.

I love MPBT! I Was talkin to a guy at work about online games. Reminded me of BT. Yyrkoon. Raeven. Viperlin. Falcon8, Mars.The Grog (my friend, deceased). And yes RD Black Roses were tough if you guys would show up together. Seemed like roster was running thin in Gamestorm days. I remember many duels we had. I loved dueling in 'lights'. I was good but not great. I think we had a good community of just lights division duelers. Even though I love EA they killed many great social games such as MPBT and Air Warrior. No other mmo I have played has grasped me like MPBT. Played in the mid 90's to about 1998 with the AOL shutdown. On AOL I was with the Solaris Knights then Killer Knights. Ahhh, good 'ol BattleTech on AOL Dial-up. Definitely brings back memories :) I was in Steiner and yes, the community was next to none. Very close-knit. I still remember the "wars" we used to have with our "arch enemies," the Mariks, lol. All the battle were respectable too and didn't contain any cussing or "mom bashing" like they do now. There was no voice so you'd have to scream out all your strategies & formations in the chat window :) Thumbs up for this classic!!!

Battletech had a warp speed bug if anyone remembered. just ctrl alt delete while walking max speed, wait 10-20 seconds, return to game, shazam! your mech is next to your enemies lol. wouldn't recommend it with jenners, you'll blow up to pieces going through your enemies body.

I was CO of a well known Mercenary Unit in the EGA game- I came up through Steiner as a unit commander (10th Lyran Guard) then went merc with Maui's Marauders for a while before becoming one of the founding members of The Wild Geese. Those were the days..

Yes, this was the most popular Mechwarrior game ever.. It looks nothing like MWLL or any of the other MW games but there is a reason why so many people were online playing MPBT. It looked a little simple but you forgot all about that when an Atlas started moving toward you. Hmm never say never....

Oh does this take me back. For all it's faults, Solaris was a game unlike any other I've come across before or since, and it's community is to this day one of the most unique. It's a shame the game didn't get the chance it really deserved to shine. I can only hope someday someone will pick up the mantle, but for now I'm content to remember the good times.
