  • @davnc89 thanks for the upload im buddys with nikita

  • you can always find a dog around 3:00 in the morning. Classic.

  • Coolest fat man that came close to flair behind the mic. He shot some real good shit talkin promos. Dusty talked with a lisp but his lisp was his trade mark.

  • The American dream Dusty Rhodes daddy. Lol I miss old school wrestling and the 80's

  • this was a fucking awesome tag team!!! man superpowers!

  • What Dusty say? "Nikita got me dressed like I'm from Siberia." lol. That fat boy got swagger.

  • All the time guys like Nikita, Luger, Hawk, Animal, Sting and even Flair were in the gym hitting the weights, wtf was Dusty doing? Fat bastard mad a living taking his shirt off in public and he let himself go like that. Jim crockett should have cut his pay. At least Vince McMahon made Dusty wrassle with a polka dotted shirt on. LOL

  • Grew up watching the mother ship tbs 5:05 every Saturday. After seeing that, the old WWF, and late 90's WCW watching wrestling today makes me sad.

  • nikita has baby hands

  • "you always find a dog at 3:00 in the morning"....lmmfao!!! real talk!!

  • If UFC was around 20+years ago...I wouldn't be surprised if Nikita Koloff made it.

  • @Kramer135 what fight skills did he have?

  • Ruff Ruffers, classic Dusty, if you will.

  • I think that Nikita was an embarressment as a United States champ. Thats why most of the fans and all the ladies for sure hated him and were embarressed to have him as a United States Champion. I mean he was bald, ugly, he wore that ridiclious singlet, I can totally understand why the facs didn't like Nikita. On the other hand you have Lex Luger who has a good look, has hair and long hair and a great body, thats why even as a heel Luger was loved and cheered for by all the women

  • Also it wasn't just for that match at the Great American Bash that Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff had that the fans were like this. EVERYWHERE Luger and Koloff wrestled be it in Boston, Philedelphia, Charlotte, Richmond, Atlanta, Oklahoma, Cleveland, and all the other places they wrestled in 1987, the whole crowd was totally behind Lex Luger and they bood Nikita Koloff. Atleast the female fans all cheered for Lex and booed Nikita, it was awesome!! I never seen a face get bood as much a Nikita did.

  • Also during the match a few times many women tried to get at Lex Luger to hug or kiss him or something. The security was tight there. Just ask anyone who was there at that match at the Great American Bash 87 and they will agree with all I'm saying. The commentators or technicalcrew did some editing to make it sound like some people were cheering for Nikita, as he was afterall the face/good guy, and they put some cheering sound effects for Nikita and some booing sound effects for Luger for effect

  • ....also when Luger won the US title from Nikita at the Great American Bash the crown erupted in cheers, the fans went crazy cheering for Luger and chanting USA. and also when Nikita left the ring to head back to the locker room, the crowd booed him out of the arena. Remember that Lex Luger was the heel and Nikita Koloff was the face and still the whole arena was behind Lex and they were against Nikita. I think at one point in the match the crowd was chanting "Break his neck, break his neck"

  • Goldberg and Dusty look cool here.

  • I think your mostly right about Lex being better than Nikita. But Nikita as a heel in 85-86 he was more over than Lex ever was as a heel. Basically he was the #3 most over heel in wrestling 1) Flair 2)Orndorff when he was battling Hogan 3) either Nikita or Tully, probably Nikita.

  • @rksolve1 I think what was cool was at many of Nikita and Lex matches, not only was the crown behind Luger and against Nikita (or atleast the women were all cheering totally for Luger and booing Nikita), but in those matches you also heard chants of "Break his neck: against Nikita. Especially when he wore that ridiculous neck brace that made Nikita look like an ugly bald freak. Some fans actually tried to attacki Nikita when he wore that neck brace to try to ripe it off him lol it was so funny

  • jive brutha

  • Dusty looks like a pimp

  • @Crisgo3d Dusty IS a pimp.

  • A lot of wrasslin fans are critical of both Luger and Nikita. I think the Bash 87 cage match between them is one of the best matches I ever saw. Two big juiced up guys slamming each other, looked real to me. Like an NFL game. Maybe they weren't great workers and they hurt each other, but it was entertaining. Promo skills were weak, but they looked great - real athletes not fat and sloppy. Both were better as heels.

  • @jtc1148 That match at the Great American Bash 87, was a squash match. It was all Lex from Beginning to end. Lex Dominated Nikita. the whole match. Half od the match was cut out, and Lex Dominated THAT PART TOO. So for 35 minutes or so Luger was owning Nikita and just beating him up and in total control. The crown was mostly cheering for Luger by far. I think 80% or more were cheering for Lex and I am sure that ALL the women in the crowd cheered totally for Lex. Nikita had no female fans!!

  • @xhemexx Nikita was "injured" in the War Games the week before. So the brace was part of the angle. As far as the females in the audience pulling for Lex, I don't know. I only was watching it on tv. I don't think Lex got as many ladies as you think. I read JJ Dillion's book, and he makes fun of him alot. Great bodybuilder physique, but one fugly dude. That being said I was in a bar in philly one time and watched him pick up a skank..LOL

  • @jtc1148 Well Lex would definately get 1000 times more women then Nikita could ever get. Also Lex was cheered by way more women and fans in general then Nikita Koloff was. I know Nikita was injured, but I was just saying the fans were making fun of him the whole time when he wore that neckbrace, they even wanted Lex to tear it off and chanted "break his neck"

  • @jtc1148 But that bash match was one sided. Didn't you see it it was all Luger, it was slow and it looked like a lex luger vs jobber match, it was a squash match. Were you there

  • @xhemexx I wasn't there, but I remember the match from the War Games vhs tape. The angle was that Nikita had "injured" his neck in the War Games in Atlanta on July 4th, and this match was on July 11th, so Nikita wasn't 100% and Luger still had to cheat to win. I liked the match because it was two big real athletic guys banging on each other like it was real. Luger played pro football, Nikita was at least a college football player. As opposed to Vince's circus who had a bunch fat guys then.

  • Lex had the looks and the popularity to beat Nikita whenever they fought. In all their matches from 1987 I think Koloff and Luger faced eachother about 26 times (one on one) in 1987 when Koloff was face and Luger was heel. In ALL those matches Luger not only had 90% of the fans cheering him, AS A HEEL against Koloff, he also totally dominated Koloff like 90% of the time in every match they had. Luger also won all the matches he ever had with Nikita, both in 1987 and 1991.

  • Zangief > Nikita Koloff

  • Damn! Let him talk, Dusty!!! Lol!!

  • Nikita was one of the most overrated men in wrestling. I mean Lex Luger was 100 times better then Nikita Koloff. Lex was a way better worker, he made it look much more beleivable. He put more expression into his matches and interviews, he put more heart and effort into his matches and had WAY more charisma, he had a better look, a better body, Was WAY better looking then Nikita and had way more work ethic then Nikita Koloff. OH and had WAY more fans even as a heel then Nikita did as a face in 87

  • Let's see: Dusty goes with hookers a few hours earlier than Ric, so that's why he's "better".

Interviews like this were another one of the things that kept adding up until they made me lose the interest I used to have in Mid-Atlantic wrestling.

  • Let's see:

Ric Flair goes with prostitutes at 3AM, but Dusty goes with prostitutes a few hours earlier, and that's why he's "better".

Interviews like this are another one of the things that kept adding up until they made me lose the interest I had in Mid-Atlantic wrestling.

  • nikita was one of the best characters in wrestling... great look, accent, etc...this dude could act, i thought he was from russia as a kid! haha

  • nikita was much better as a monster heel. the magnum accident really changed the course of wreslting history in a lot of ways.

  • @danteras23 He was going to be the NWA's Hogan and won the strap had that accident not happened. It should of happened to the real assholes of the world instead of a guy on the brink of greatness

  • @The80srox I agree. I don't think people realize just how great Magnum was and could have been. He already had a rivalry with Flair, but it would have been legendary if not for the accident and Flair would not have been Champion as many times. There is no doubt that Magnum would have been a huge star, probably would have ended up in the WWF at some point, and gone down as one of the greats in the business.

  • @danteras23 ***sorry I mean win

  • Don't let blond hair fool you. Dusty Rhodes and for that matter Ric Flair are really brothas.....

  • Hey Dusty, Fur Kills.

  • hahaha once that mic was passed to nikita the entertaining part of this interview was over.

  • lord have mercy nikita you still look good to me your totally sexy!!

  • @luvbugg1975 Do you think Dusty looks hot?? lol

  • dusty rhodes the greatest of all time period

  • Nikita Koloff, greatly underrated as a perfomer.......

  • nakita i know you miss mandy

  • Dusty Rhodes looks like Jabba the Hut. WHY would anyone put such an UGLY person on television!??

  • @tmattrope Dusty was the booker and the producer of the tv shows and pay per views, that's why.

  • @bizzmarky76 Charming. That explains the content of the circus!

  • @tmattrope Dusty was the booker at the time, IIRC. That's why.

  • love the old school U.S. Title belt

  • thats my nigga dusty....whitest black man ever..lol

  • You can always find a dog at 3 o clock in the mornin.Good one.

  • Look at that stare from Nikita! Intimidation!

  • Nikita sounds like Triumph the insult comic dog. @ 2:56 I though he was going to say, "For me to poop on!"

  • Ready to kick your ass.

  • Comment removed

  • Crockett promotions was always the best.

  • Nikita is a preacher now! Check him out on my space. But he has strict rules! He will not friend anyone who has offensive material on their page.

  • I rememeber this. Wow talk about a blast from the PAST!!

  • Where's Magaaaaaaa TA .......LOL

  • damn... that's a pretty good russian accent. of course dusty was the shit, but damn nikita had a pretty good voice

  • "Yeah I'm puttay, I know I'm puttay"

Dusty was using ebonics long before they became cool....

  • @GodOfDetailing Haha but isnt he talking more like a cajun?

  • @GodOfDetailing Black people were using it before Dusty.;)

  • dusty's a pimp. bionic pimp slappin' ho's.

  • "You can always find a dog at 3 o'clock in the morning." Classic.

  • fly ass cowboy hat...

  • Yeah and he's rockin that fur lol

  • Dusty should have borrowed some of Nikita's steroids. LOL Vintage clip

  • Dusty really sounded like a southern black preacher right here. LOL

  • 2 things. That US Title is one of the best looking belts short of the WWF Winged Eagled belt in my opinion, and Dusty is Hood! lol

  • Dusty looked like a big fat douche in that fur coat. When he and Magnum came out in matching fur coats they looked like a couple of fruit loops. Glad they liked spending Crocketts money and burying the company. Way to go fat ass.

  • Hey they put hard times on duttay he stood up for this country even after they broke his leg.A computer just took my job that's hard times jack

  • Hey was anyone at the 1987 Great American Bash when Nikita Koloff lost the U,S. title to Lex Luger in the Cage match?? If so, I am just wondering, weren't most of the fans actually cheering for Lex, like over 80% maybe, and probably all the women in the crowd? Because I find it hard to beleive that Koloff was cheered as much as he was, I think that the NWA had pre-recorded tapes of cheers from fans, and that for the T.V. audience they put those on whenever Koloff did something to make it sound

  • Cont'd ...to make it sound like Nikita was the face and thus therefore appearing to be cheered for more then the heel Lex Luger. because I truly beleive that Nikita was not cheered for that much and that Luger was cheered by fans more then Nikita Koloff was. Have you noticed that in that match they made it dark where the fans were and the fans were maybe 30 feet away from the ring, I beleive it was to not have the fans watching on TV SEE that the fans were actually cheering more for Luger !!

  • Also I think I heard that after that match at the Great American Bash 1987 when Luger beat Koloff to win the United States championship, that the fans cheered like crazy for Luger as he left the ring, and also that the fans booed Nikita Koloff out of the ring, even though Lex was the heel, and Nikita the face?? Does anyone know whether thats true? I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. I mean it really sounded like Luger got a bigger pop then Koloff in many parts of the match including entrance

  • Luger was never cheered he had no charisma. Nikita was hated but then switched sides and was basically down w/ Dusty,LOD, and all the other faces. Redemption is y Nikita was loved, changing your ways and realizing u were wrong is always respected. I was a big (Kid) fan during this period and brainwashed to think all soviets where evil but when Nikita turned face he was badass. Sorry u get heresay from revisionists.a

  • Gotta love Dusty wearing the fur coat with a cowboy hat.

  • straight pimp!!!

  • i mis-calculated where he was from...i know that he now lives in the mid-atlantic area w/his 2nd wife & kid(s)...he was even a finalist on "america's funniest people" w/his daughter some years back...it was s.c. where magnum ta 1st heard of nikita & how stiff he was/is!!

  • RIP Nikita.

  • a-hole nikita's alive

  • if you think that Steamboat had only two 5-star matches, then you obviously haven't seen many of his throughout his career. It's no coincidence that so many greats say that Steamboat is the best they've ever worked with in the ring--his work ethic and skill level was out of this world

  • Somebody call PETA! ha, ha... That fur is off the charts though...

  • Luger had long hair, was taler and had better body thn Nikita koloff. That means, as far as the female fans go, that Luger is way for appealng as someone to cheer for. Koloff on the other hand, is shorter then Luger, is bald an doesn't have nice of a body as Luger.

  • If you forget the fact Luger was awful on the mic and just terrible in the ring he was the best guy ever.

  • LOL Not only did Nikita have a great body, he was gorgeous and could actually wrestle! Aside from that Nikita had a GREAT ass! Besides Luger was more interested in posing.

  • You're gay ha?

  • If you're referring to me Xhemexx , I'm happily Bisexual. I do have a beautiful, sexy girlfriend who keeps me smiling for days on end.

  • Comment removed

  • Xhemexx, I am 150% ALL WOMAN baby!

  • Lex Luger is better looking then Nikita Koloff

  • Lex WISHES he were better looking than Nikita. Nikita had a gorgeous face. body and his eyes just made you melt. Lex has NEVER been good looking to me. His body was great. But, his face was well...not.

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO You're so funny. The only ones who would think Lex is better looking are girls who specifically prefer guys with blond hair/blue eyes. Lex is not even good looking at all. Nikita was and still is a very good looking man. Great body, beautiful eyes and his ass was just OMG!!!!

  • damn!!! Since Claudio Castagnoli shaved his head he looks exactly like Nikia Koloff now LOL.

  • Nikita looks bad with a bald head don't you think?

  • Nikita Koloff looks like Henri Sattler of God Dethroned, LOL! He is all buff though!

  • by the way...nk was/is from south carolina...he changed his name legally to that from "scott simpson"(?) a few-2-several years back...from what ive heard,he was/is a REAL shootfighter...AND he hit people 4real!!!

  • He was really from Minnesota. He trained with The Road Warriors, Rick Rude, & Barry Darsow. He was hoping to debut in 1983 like the others, but had suffered an arm injury, delaying his debut. It was determined that he would portray a Russian athlete who was supposed to be in the 1984 Olympics. They used the Soviet boycott as the backstory. To me, it was a play on Brad Rheingans of the AWA. He was on the US team that boycotted the 1980 Olympics.

  • Look, Koloff got dominated by Luger in that United States Championship match in the cage from start to finish. How could you say Nikita was good, when Luger absolutely owned him througout that match from the very beginning, and beat Koloff fairly in a no DQ match . That match was very one sided, it was all Luger. Plus remember Koloff was the "face" and Luger the "heeI" in that match, YET I think 80% of the fans were cheering for Luger in that match, probably ALL the ladies cheered for Luger.

  • {Con't}

As far as Ricky " the Dragon" Steamboat, not many wreslters have worked as hard and have had as many good legendary matches as Ricky. Ricky was clealy better then Nikita.

  • Dusty the pimp and his valet.

  • nikita was buff.

  • Yeah but with the bald head, he couldn't get any ladies or dates. I think all his fans were guys when he was a face. I remember his U.S. championship match against Lex Luger, most of the fans cheered for Luger, and probably all the ladies cheered for Lex, and rememberf in that match Nikita Koloff was the "baby-face" and Lex Luger was the "heel" and still Luger got most of the pop from the crowd especially from the ladies.

  • Cocktails, dinner and lunch! Then evening play!

  • The fact is the key to all those matches is RIC FLAIR. Do you really think Nikita is better than Steamboat is so study wrestling for 10 more years and come back.

  • I have to completely agree with you on that one. Steamboat was a much better wrestler than Koloff. A much stronger performer. Koloff was being led in the ring by Magnum TA because he wasn't very experienced with long matches. Steamboat, on the other hand, would go on the have some of the classic matches in history with Flair and Savage. Flair has even said that his best matches were against Steamboat. Koloff was carried around by some great performers such as Flair and TA.

  • Koloff was also carried by Luger, Sting, Ravishing Rick Rude, and others.

  • Another idiot who thinks its real.

  • the wwf/wwe had nothing on the NWA when crockett sold it and turner renamed it wcw it went down hill but koloff not a main eventer you are kidding me and that belt is the us title to me that was the only us tilte the wcw version was lame the 10lbs of sliver it was okay the wwe verson the worst that title belt came out in 86 left in the early 90s but to me that is the us title the people who were that belt magnum ta koloff lugar windham lugar then wcw changed it. the nwa>wcw>wwf/wwe period.

  • How many 5 star matches did Nikita have a big ZERO.

  • Best of Seven Series against Magnum T.A. The Russian Chain matches against The Road Warriors. The War Games: The Match Beyond against the Horsemen. His classic Starrcade match with Flair.

  • Check Out Tha Coat.

  • Imagine Nikita in his prime goin against Goldberg damn good match.

  • If you like shit matches I guess so.

  • A Chinchilla with a cowboy hat & blue jeans. Hell of an hookup

  • Here are several that blow him away in terms of workrate and in ring selling and ability. 1. Ric Flair 2. Ricky Steamboat 3. Ricky Morton 4. Jack Brisco 5. Harley race 6. Barry Windham 7. Arn Anderson 8. Tully Blandchard 9. Terry Funk 10. Sting Thats 10 who are better than Nikita in the ring and thats just 80's guys in the NWA/WCW. If given time I could name 30 to 40 better than him if you look at all promotions. This is just 10 off the top of my mind.
  • If you are going to title yourself nwa fan don't put up a dumb list like that. Ricky Morton? Please. They just fed off the rock n roll wrestling hype produced by the wwf at the time. In terms of selling look at NIkitas pay per view rate in main events during the 80's. Harley, ar, tully, terry, jack, and ricky did not have a main event at either starcade or the bash.

  • I guess Harley Race was not at the main event in Starrcade 83 you dumb fuck. The R n R express were doing that gimmick long before wwf did rock and roll plus dumbass the RnRs were in the WWF at one time. Steamboat main evented 2 PPvs in 1989. Brisco could work circles around nikita. The main events Nikita were in it was all about Flair not Nilita. The role Nikita was in during the promo was due to a car wreck not his talent. He was a mid carder for about 3 yeras and thats it.

  • Harley main carded the flair for the gold card, but left shortly after. Nikita and the super powers was a main stay up until around 88. The RnR express were trying to feed off the rock n roll wrestling connection. The midnight rockers were good examples of copy cats. They had a good match with the andersons at starcade 86, but pulled out that dreadful scaffold match at 87 . Morton was not better than Nikita. Don't forget that the Road Warriors and the Russian's also had some great matches.

  • @NWAfan You forgot the Masked Superstar.

  • This should be called I can't make it as a heel and Flair can't carry me in every match.

Nikita was lucky Magnum got hurt or would never have been in this role.

  • Nikita was a great heel, but he was an even better babyface under the circumstances. If not for Terry Allen's accident, Nikita could have improved even better as a heel, and either one of them could have been a great world champion.

  • He got alot of heel heat but was awful in the ring.

  • You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. He wasn't great, but I wouldn't say awful. Flair was awful in the ring, but he stayed on top for a long time.

  • You are the only person I have ever heard Flair was awful in the ring. You understand very little about what makes a wrestling match good.

  • Speedbuggy you are one of these dumb fucks who would watch Flair Steamboat from 1989 and think it is boring because they are not do crazy ECW style high spots. You probably also think NJPW is boring. I bet you have never watched Mitsuharu Misawa or Kenta Kobashi and have no clue just how great they are.

  • I am one of the people who watched Flair from the inception of the original Four Horsemen until the end of his career & the man wrestled the same exact match every single time he went into the ring for most of his career, much like Hulk Hogan has done. I give him credit for his longevity & being entertaining in the ring though, since they did put the world heavyweight title on him so many times, but not great.

  • Have you ever watched the entire match from wrestle war 89 Flair/Steamboat.

  • If Nikita was so great why was his career over in just 2 more years with the NWA/JCP/Turner owned company. yes I know he came back as a nothing in 1991 for only about 16 months.

  • ok not trying to get into a big thing but Nikita career wasnt over because he was a bad or had to leave or couldnt wrestle. he left because hes first wife became ill with cancer and he left to care for her and when he returned he said it didnt feel right anymore. but Nikita was one of the best for hes time way better the luger and Nikita would have been a great heel for a long time if Mag TA wouldnt have been hurt there rivalry would have been up there with flair/rhodes.

  • you are wrong. koloff was a great heel who got tons of heat. the only reason they made the switch is because of ta's car accident.

  • The of the evil Soviet Union would have killed off his gimmick anyway.

  • At the same time in WWF, some of the worst promos were being cut.

  • He be ROOF ROOF'N.

God I wish people still did promos like this.

  • how long was this before the road warriors turn on dusty

  • This promo was cut not long after Starcade 86 about less than two years before the turn.

  • @mikemike4315 The Road Warriors turned on Dusty Rhodes late in the summer of 1988.
