what about people like me who just bought their first car, i didnt have mommy and daddy to pay for mine, so how am i supposed to find one if they keep doing shit like this to all the good used cars, what about the 1984 astro van with no paint all rust, gets 15 gallons to the mile and burns 3 quarts of oil every time you start it, also i got a 91 supra, smog is gone, no cats and the turbo burns oil, no way an auto lover like me would let them destroy that engine, never

You people have small itty bitty brains. Cash for Clunkers has brought jobs back to the auto industry, Auto sales, Salvage and many other busineses. It takes high millage clunkers off the road and replaces them with full efficient cars. this helps pollution as well as makes us less dependent on foriegn oil.

Your taxes pay for a lot of things you dony use or dont need. 90% of roads in the us you probably dont drive on but your taxes help pay for them. If you own a home and dont have kids you still pay taxes for your your local school district. This program betters our economy in many ways and we are all better off for it.
Cash for Clunkers temporarily caused a spike in new car sales, now these dealers will have a long, cold winter trying to move whatever inventory they have left. As far as salvaging these cars, the majority were supposed to be crushed and the engines are useless--just like your logic.

I have to agree. Congress does not know the long term implications of what they are doing to the US economy. I saw one video on line with a 2001 HD ford pickup with the V-10 being destroyed. This truck would have made a great part of the business of a contractor or construction worker to do his trade and contribute to the economy. But no, Congress wants those trucks dead so the construction worker will be forced to purchase a new $25k truck instead of purchasing a used $3k truck.
