  • for everyone who doesn`t know it`s a standard procedere for us here at the FDNY to run out with lights every time and than turn them off if there`s no emergency. It`s allowed and every rig does it the same way. maby at other fire station in the US it`s not allowed, in NY it is. Greez Chris Ladder 4 Midtown House FDNY

  • Haha if people dont get it just change it. Or remove it haha...

  • @FL92002 what's the ford in the back of engine 33 bay do?

  • @mistermonkeyman32 Thats the Battalion Chief 's vehicle he is in control of 5 companies 3 Engines and 2 Ladders

  • IDK - in Ohio it's illegal to use the lights just to pull out of the station 'less it's a run. Also illegal for a police car, fire truck (or any emergency vehicle) to exceed the speed limit or violate a (moving) traffic rule without BOTH lights and sirens activated; AND they'd better have a run response or emergency to do it. They can, of course, activate just lights if they're doing a LEGAL traffic move for a safety reason, (ie, backing), but not just to get through an intersection or speed.

  • @lauinger It wasnt for "no reason whatsoever", it was for safety when pulling out of the firehouse in a crowded city when people tend to pay less attention than needed. They turned their lights off right after they started going down the road. I can imagine in Ohio you dont really need to worry about a dumbass on a cell hitting the rig as it exits the station.

  • @TheRedemption113 Then why doesn't EVERYbody have emergency lights to pull out onto the road. I'm betting it's as illegal there as it is here, and, yes, we have to worry about idiots with phones here too.

  • Cuz they do just in case they get a call.

  • so, if they WEREN'T responding to a call. Why did they bunker up?

  • @swatllord they have to put on there pants when ever they leave the firehouse on of the sop's

  • @swatllord we still have to gear up when we leave even to go shopping cause if we get a call while were out we cant run back to the firehouse to pick up our gear we have to be ready just in case

  • @ncvfccadet So.... why not send just a couple guys in a POV or the chief vehicle rather than a ladder and 90% of the house?

  • @swatllord well its just easier to have everyone together and geared up so in case theres a call they all respond together

  • @ncvfccadet I would have to disagree there. It would be smarter to have one, maybe two, guys go out and run errands while the rest man the station. There are so many things that could happen. What if they cannot get out of the area they're going to due to traffic, tight roads, comm issues, etc. This is FDNY, it's not going to be a disaster if they're short 2 people and, chances are, they aren't the only unit responding anyway. There has to be more to this video than just "going out for food"

  • @swatllord well that may be true i dont know if that would be better or not im just giving you the info i know from my and my fathers department. although were not in fdny so there is a difference between a huge city and a small town.

  • Shit! all unit to the store! were out of chow D:

  • Here in Finland Fire-engine had to be out of firestation in 1 minute.

  • hows bloody stupid to turn emergency lights on to go and get tucker , my brigade does it while we reverse into the station or where we will be taking up heaps of the road and may cause a blockage

  • SWEET VIDEO MAN!!!!!! i just think it might be a good idea to specify that theyre not responding to a call in the video descriptipn box

  • yea this isnt a call there going out to get something to eat or to get stuff they need for the house they dress up in case there was a call so then when they hear it on there radio and they get in the truck and go

  • Cool vid

  • "Ring the bell" hahaha nice!

  • You're not really serious when you write "sluggishly responds to a call of chow and food shopping" are you? Did you really think they were getting an actual run?

  • I was being completely serious when I wrote that. They were literally going out of quarters to get food for chow. I know that for a fact. Stop being stupid and thinking otherwise. That goes for every other jackass that's been saying stuff like that.

  • thats a tight fit into that garage

  • It doesn't look like they have a call. I didn't see them hit their siren as they left. Did you ever think they might have left the station to run an errand or something? The lights were on just to warn traffic as they pulled out but they were turned off as he made the turn onto the street.

  • They did right

  • I just don't get the FDNY at times (and before you all start i'm not having a go!), but your lights are there for emergency calls only, if your conning the public by using them to just push your way into the traffic que, because your chinese dinner can't wait then i think thats a bit selfish!! Don't you???

(And i am a firefighter before someone strats lecturing me, telling me i haven't got a clue!!)

  • I totally 100% Agree with you P999FFB!!! This is disgusting off the FDNY!! If you done this in the UK you'd get a kicking up the backside and a right telling off!...

  • I agree however they just turned the lights on to get out on the street. At my station we have to block the entire street to back the trucks back into the station and we will let whatever traffic is behind us go past and then we turn on the lights just in case as a safety concern. No pun intended. Great looking station they have.

  • that's right volly, you have no clue, nobody has to tell you that kid.. keep playing fireman in your little world.

  • ring the bell fail, aha

  • Did they put on their gear just incase they got a call while out? 'Cause otherwise....I don't really know why they would do that...?

  • Any time you leave station your bunkers need to be on. Just one of those FDNY rules...

  • Yeah, they could get a call anytime.

  • Most depts follow that, because they won't have time to get ready if they get a call when they are out there

  • Thank god...someone with some brains and sensibility! Thank you for actually taking the time to read the description.

  • 'food and chow' are the best kind of runs! :p

  • hey my brothers from other mothers gotta eat right

  • To help those who can't work out what cr5ew saying. Enjoy!!!

Translated into English (or the best I could do):

You people are a bunch of wankers, and to think that you've got a call to something that is probably bullshit. Fuck, I'd take my fucking good old time too and who cares what the call is. It isn't going no where.

Now translated into Twat: I, cr5ew, am hereby declaring that I am a complete fucking idiot who can't respect any fellow human being. I'm 14 and am trying to be cool.

  • I would imagine they were placed on standby t cover another house. They fired up and got ready and started to move when they were called in. This doesnt appear to be a slow response, but i do have to say to the camera man, I would recommed you dont walk back and forth in front of a running engine, you are likely to get your ass run over!

  • or going to get food

  • I think they notify the dispatcher that they are leaving quarters for food, and if a call does come in they respond from where ever they are to the call. Thats the popular practice around where i am.

  • damn thats slow.....What was the call

  • dear god man, it's in the description. FOOD SHOPPING.

  • um no call they r goin shopping

thats y they tured there lites on 2 get out in2 traffic then turned them off

  • That's right, the lights were just to alertthe nearby traffic they were coming out, then they turned off the lights, as they were no longer needed for safety

  • u people that r a bounch of wacker and think u got to run for something thats prob bs fuck that i d take my fucken goo old time too and who care wut the call is. it isnt going no were.

  • Put your bottle down & take a nap before you leave a comment. I still can't figure out what your saying after 5 minutes of braking it down into something I still can't understand

  • Haha, Agreed.

    There you go guys! Enjoy!

  • They didn't have a call, they were going to lunch or dinner, in either way they were going ot eat, the only reason they turn on the Emergency lights is because they block the whole road when they pull the Engine out of the bay so they need to use them for safety reasons, if it was an emergency call they would've kept them on, and used sirens after they have pulled out. they are samrt men, they know what they are doing.

  • Why would the ladder go out before the engine?

  • the engine wasnt at the house at that time. if it were a call the engine would have gone first and we wouldnt have watched a 5 min video of them gettin ready to go shopping or smthin.

  • Haha, okay.

  • I'm guessing you have no experience in the fire service. A ladder (or truck, whichever you perfer) never goes out before an engine. Also, you would have heard radio chater. And last, they would have had the sirens running

  • HAHA it usually takes them 2 minutes to get to the call and would take tham a total of 5 mintues to get to the incident and be in the middle of operations

  • AAAAaaahhhhh TOOL !!!!

  • how come that looks like L1 E7s house

  • hey man why they always turn on the headlites wen the truck start up everytime

  • Visibility purposes. Even in the daylight having your headlights on makes you more visible to other drivers.

On most fire trucks I believe they are hard wired to come on when the battery is activated because when the battery is on you're either doing work or going somewhere. And both of those require your ability to see and be scene.

  • bell don't ring huh?

  • i think he just lied to you...im pretty sure the bell would be usable

  • he didnt lie...u have to manually ring the bell from the front of the rig...which is exactly what he said

and maybe you can ASK as opposed to ORDER the bell to be rung if you want to hear it

  • some rigs the bell can be wrung from inside the cab....

  • maybe in ur vollie house they can be RUNG...but not that particular fire truck...i know ive worked there

  • if you drive crazy enough it may ring... lol.

  • Please read the description. They were going out for chow and shopping for dinner and food.
