they are holding their weapons up, rather than down because, if someone was to fire an accidental shot (not that they should) and their gun was pointing at the floor, ballistic shrapnel would ricochet up towards their faces. If they shot towards the roof shrapnel would fall down causing no harm.

@fuzionk The point is with commando units that they dont accidently shoot. Thats why they should hold them down since it is more safe than holding it normal and much easier to use.

@Osvath97 these nout wrong with that if you look there holding the rifle with 1 hand a sa80 can be fired with just one hand the over hand they are useing to climb over things you dont want to point the rifle down because it will chatch things climbing over plus if you want to engage its easier to lower the rifle with one hand

and also its easier to run with both hands free rather than both hands on the rifle
