well... you can allways buy the new DLC "broken steel" for fallout :D it lets u continue after you have either fawkes or lyons go into the purifyer and stop it, you also get a new main storyline after that. which is mostly about cleaning up the enclave.

i would really recommend it to you :) the new storyline, enemies and equipment is far more awesome than the two other DLCs ^_^

In the next DLC you're going to survive the radiation and be able to continue to play the game after it ends. But no, there's no way to save your dad, and the main character dying was actually really cool from a Fictional standpoint, not many games have the balls to do that.
