It's cruel and unnecessary to crop dogs ears or tails. The Giant has a great pair of floppy ears and a magnificent, sail of a tale. I know, I have one.
i have a giant schnauzer too her name is TONKA we never clipped her ears but they never went down she has the biggest ears a dog could have I love her anyway!!!

His tail was docked by the breeder, but I had never even seen any giants with the whole tail until viewing some European pictures of giants so I wasn't sure if it was a standard or something in the US. In any case, my dog Max is perfect for me and my dog!

I went to the breeder to see a litter and say I did not want the ears clipped. While visiting, I met Stella and couldn't leave without her. Her ears were already clipped, so I had no choice in the matter. She is the most well adjusted, happy, friendly dog I have ever known...but, real high energy and not a couch potato!
When you get them from a breeder, sometimes you don't have that option, and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be, especially now when they can do laser technology, the cuts heal faster.
Thanks for your comment. I was looking at the other Giant Schnauzers and saw your great looking Giant. I was surprised when I read about the ears dropping but staying up after 2weeks. I'm thinking I may stop taping and see if the ears will stay up.

I dont think I would get any other breed. I love my Giant, she swims and is very intelligent.
So good with kids too.

Never understood the ear cropping. It isn't permitted in some countries. Can be
problematic for them. They have very thick hairy ear canals that need to be trimmed out. Schnauzers are great pups! I have two! :O]

Stella is a beautiful Giant! I had the same problem with one of Cassie's ears! (My Giant Schnauzer that I had)

I just saw a solid black giant schnauzzer at Petco. I have a mini schnauzer but they are all the same! They love their ears and belly rubs!
