thats true but ususaly that just means that its kinda of to late. and the motor and the transmission is running at different speeds so to solve it when you floor at 1 1/2 or 2 it doesnt really do that anymore.
I've noticed that too. I just thought about it though. Everytime I floor it below 3K rpm it just rumbles then once it reaches 3K it speeds up fast. I really want the Dough Thorley headers and a cat-back exhaust. Will those fit a regular cab 4X4 because I always see them for the extended cab.
I have the exact same truck, and if you floor it below 3000 rpms, the engine tends to get bogged down. For example, if you try to floor it at 2000 rpms in 3rd gear, the engine makes a low rumbling sound and is very sluggish. In this situation, it will accelerate faster with the throttle only half way down.
Hmmm... I got an 08 regular cab with only the prerunner, and sr5 packages. Its a 5 speed manual too, its slow but not that slow, it must be the 4x4's added weight and the cab weight, the 4 banger just aint got the guts, at least it aint like my grandads ranger, it made 100 horses when it rolled of the showroom floor in 1991 and i hate driving it cause it so SLOW! it probably only makes 85-ish horsepower now haha
But i saw where they used to make a trd blower for the 2.7l not to long ago, ive read where its pretty much a straight forward retro-fit but the mpg's would suck like a v6 for not nearly as much power soo i dont think ima do that, i may look at a k&n intake and the trd catback a little power gain little mpg gain and a snarl that will sound good
its kool though. i love my truck. its got enough power and im happy with that. i thought that the prerunner all comes in a 4.0 6-speed manual But yours is a 5-speed?? yours must be a 2.7 taco then.
Yeah its a 2.7. the dealer told us that it was a rare configuration (prerunner,sr5, and only a 2.7, and manual)but it gets me from place to place so im happy, they really are great trucks except for he beds, i cant stand how they made them with some csm/plastic material haha
Sorry dude, but the TRD supercharger is only for the 1GR, (V6 models). We four bangers do have a turbo kit for us made by STS. Search "Turbo Charged Tacoma Built by Atomic Motorsport Concepts" on youtube for a video of a turbo four banger taco.....This is not the STS kit though. Just giving you an idea.
I was wondering if they were dogs or not...you know people drive like jerks anymore...you kinda need some speed...but the I4 seems to have plenty of pickup I think id rather OWN an i4 than the 6 cylinder. whats your MPG
yeah seems more than adequate speed wise! thats your combined MPG? city/highway? is it a manual? I read that people complain the seats arent comfortable...what do you think...I wouldnt mind picking one up...definately a 4cylinder PLENTY of pickup, some guy on youtube has a quad cab v-6 with some digital meter thing that SAYS hes getting 28mpg i think its BS though.
i think that getting 28mpg on a v6 is bogous. the papers say that i should get 22/27 fuel wise and my combined mpg would be around 24-26mpg depending on the drving conditions and how i drive. about the seats, if you get a access cab the seats in the back arent that comfortable. the front seats are all the same in all models of the tacoma and its pretty comfortable to me. its a 5 speed manual with 4x4. were you looking to buy one soon???
yeah I drive a stealth twin turbo AWD. which isnt that great on gas...in fact it sucks. but the car was 6k and only cost me about 1k in maintenece and i put over 50k miles on it...but id definately like to test drive a Tacoma...kinda like the desert mica color and MPG
thats kool mines top out at about 105 and after that it will start lagging.. I onlyhve a 4 cyl its not a 6 cyl..getting a intake for my truck soon though
Not sure if I would consider it quick for a I-4....That seemed to take 9-10 seconds....They are definitely not known for speed....I am looking to get a new Taco soon....had an X-runner and it was nice but very expensive to run....Like the economy of the I4 Tacoma....
yeah my '08 4 cylinder does the same shit...it's wicked annoying lol

I also have the problem with flooring it below 3K RPMs, it makes this rumbling noise, and takes it a couple of seconds to get past 3000 rpms.
