you can tell they did some hardcore research before they made this movie. De Niro saying that nobody will lose a dime because their money is insured is one of the oldest methods in bank robbing to eliminate silent alarms being triggered and hostages trying to take down the robbers in would be hero attempts.
@doomtomb3 That's because it's the only one in america that came close to the scale of it. a few banks in germany got held up in the 80s though, those were much more bloody then the hollywood one and usually successful at least in the short term.
i don't think that Tom sizemore's character ment to take the child as a hostage, earlier in the film, he has dinner with De Nero and valkilmer's characters and he has a family. But, if this were a real event, the police could only assume that he took the child hostage, and be forced to take the shot. best movie shootout of all time
taht shot pacino takes at the end, woudl never happen in real life when the assailant is holding a child like that. even a sniper would most likely not get authorisation... but it is film and i still enjoyed it =P
holy moly, the best shootout scene ever, turned my system up to the max, gives me such a rush, never seen anytihing like it. Awsome, Michael Mann is da man
Hey mate, I was just looking up on the competition. I'm uploading a video exactly like this one, heh heh. Yeah I thought it was a great sequence too. I'll send you a friend invite so you can see what's up on my channel.
@gillisledoux007 the bolt locks open after a magazine is emptied. you dont pull the charging handle (it wouldnt do anything with the bolt locked open anyway). when you see him slap the side of the gun with his left hand he was disengaging the bolt lock and chambering the first round out of the new clip. that's how a m16 or ar-15 works or in this case, this is actually a Colt 733.
@gillisledoux007 yea i've heard canada has some shitty laws about what guns you can and cant have. that sucks...just to clarify, i wasnt trying to be a know-it-all and i wasnt calling you stupid or anything. i just grew up with guns so thats where most of what i know comes from but if you cant have them in your country then i get why you wouldnt be very familiar with them.
No problem at all friend :D i just can tell when some1 knows their shit better than me, hence the bow down in respect. It just appeared weird to me not to chamber a round with the charging handle, but if the bolt is locked open after that last bullet casing is ejected, then no need to chamber a round. 1 other thing tho, i don't like how Val doesnt take cover when he spins around to fire at cops in his back, shouldve used the car as cover. TY you Shady, i learned something new 2day

This is the most realistic and shootout ever in movie history, in terms of sounds, weapons mechanics and bullet damages.

Im gonna start making a crew of my own like this, Professional, very good marksmen.
Val kilmer was the shit in this scene but fuckin michael had to take a different route even though the car block officers were dead N out of ammo
I'm pretty sure they would of all made it if trejo was driving, the black guy was a first timer fucking hesitated, inexperienced.
LiLwHisPer05 1 year ago
@LiLwHisPer05 The driver was not a first timer he was an old friend of Deniro's character.

It appears to be mostly out of desperation. He was all alone and his partners had already made their getaway. Sucks to be him.

gta vice city was a lot better than gta 4, I'm mean that's just my opinion. It had more heart and soul and gameplay for that matter.
vallergan 2 years ago
I heard that they used real live ammuntion for this scene.
It must of been quite frightnening hearing all those shots ring off at 100 mph with all these people trying 2 duck.

The blond bank robber shot 100+ rounds and only reloaded once. WTH!
RICEKING212 2 years ago
I noticed that too, movie magic. In these type of movies, they must have so much weight added for all these magazines they got on them...
doomtomb3 2 years ago
We only SEE him reloading it once :) He may have reloaded it off-camera. Also, I could be wrong, but maybe the robbers used larger magazines as well?
hoisonsauce 2 years ago
@hoisonsauce
that makes sense but at 6:15 he clearly doesnt pull on the charging handle...
