  • argh it makes me CRINGE

  • #roguerotting360...I'll take john barry, ennio morricone, bernard herrman, henry mancini over anything these days...carter burwell does some good things in the coen bros films, but I wouldn't sit around and listen to it on its own like I would the above mentioned...

  • should put a cap on the vamp

  • Hey, it's Phil Stacey!

  • it's Willem Dafoe

  • What Berg piece is it?

  • Lyric Suite for string quartet and a short from one of the three pieces from lyric suite for orchestra.

  • It's great, I've only ever heard the "To the memory of an angel" violin concerto.

  • The first half of this video is from Berg's Lyric Suite . . . the second half has an excerpt from Berg's Three Pieces for Orchestra, Op 6.

If you like these then you need to familiarize yourself more with Alban Berg's music.

  • definitely...the tension, the dissonance, the drama in alban berg's music (likewise that of schoenberg) all make current film music seem pathetic, possibly criminally inadequate to the task of supporting what the filmmakers try sometimes to do...

  • "To the memory of an angel", composed in memoriam of a child, becames Berg's own requiem.
