I agree totally. In fact, this was like most of the grown up stuff I saw. I used to only watch the opening then beat it. Thanks a million for posting, it was unbelieveable hearing that again.
Love the graphics and the music. Instant excitement! Funny... the gal at the beginning of this clip was trying to be the next Jessica Savitch, who came from that area before becoming an NBC anchor, getting fired for being high live on NBC (see YT clips of her disastrous news break), then dying 2 weeks later. Makes me wonder why she's be a Jessica Wanna-be.
Do you know who the anchor is at the beginning of this promo??? Her name is Kimberly Perkins and shortly after Pittsburg, she moved to Utah and KTVX (News 4 Utah / ABC 4) where she anchored until December 2000! I thought I would throw that in there for those of you who know her.
Wow, do I remember this. Growing up, when I heard this theme music, that meant I'd better hurry up and get into the family room and in front of the TV because I'd probably been waiting all week to see this movie. LOL
holy crap! now only do I remember this very well but the anchor shown is Denice DiDesenso (sp?) who is now on WFSB and has been for the past 20 years. Thank you for posting this
Sniff...that was beautiful...I remember when they replaced the old "so old, so young"" theme with this one. Which, as a child, I appreciated; as the other one used to scare the crap out of me.
Back when TV was cool, and had talent. Today, it's all TRASH.

Bill Conti (Rocky) wrote this...probably one of the best TV themes ever, I think.

wow!...and I was just about to comment that I specifically remember this score preceding "Rocky" in September 1985

Hard not to forget this...I'm 26, the special movie nights were a staple back then. They're so rare now, aside from holiday weeks...

I of course remember the music, but I was a tad too young for these graphics (the updated one in 86 is what I remember most)

I vaguely remember her too. Since it is from KDKA-TV, I'll give this a "It's da burg thing" (Pittsburgh) bump! Those were the days.
