Looking at it historically; the USSR was the biggest allied player. They held the most ground against the Nazis. After all they WERE the allied belligerent on the Eastern Front. Hitler viewed the USSR as such a threat, he abandoned all plans to invade the UK, and moved a lot of his troops to fight the reds.

As for the US, we needed England. How else were we going to get to continental Europe? I really think that had it not been for our 3 superpowers, the Axis would've won.

Not Canadian im American. I understand England did their part especially with providing the Americans for training bases and a place for the reserves and wounded(as well as the french). All though like i said withough the U.S. i believe the Nazis would have took All of Europe. The reason why hitler really lost could have been his failed attacks in Russia as well. You are right about England in Africa but once again assisted by the U.S. We just came a little late. Iron maiden rules by the way

Oh, sorry about that. Last night, I was doing three things at once, and had a long day at work. Trying to be unbiased here, I'm fairly certain that if Russia had gone through with their treaty they had with Nazi Germany, we would have lost. Had America stayed with it's isolationist policy; Germany would have won. Had the UK kept Chamberlain as PM; Germany would have won. It were a joint effort on all sides. No one country "saved the day". No one could have done it without the other.

@dnedwrds I totally agree with you. Everyone is so stupidly selfish and arrogant to say "without us, the world would not be saved". Funny to hear it from an American, who comes from the country that is destroying the whole world with wars. I come from Crete island of Greece and I could easily say that "should the people of Crete not have found so gallantly against the nazis in the famous Battle of Crete, Hitler wouldn't have lost the battle in Leningrad (and thus the war)". EVERYONE helped!

Unfortunately, the UK's role in the war really does get downplayed today. It was the British who liberated most of the villages in France. The British who did most of the fighting in Africa, and England where the US held a great majority of it's troops, & equipment before facing combat. A lot of younger Americans don't know England even fought in the war; much less the USSR. They think it was all America! Ignorance... Your Canadian? You guys did your part too as a Commonwealth Nation.
