  • thanks.

  • could you run the car through the cycles of shifting and drain more dark fluid out?

  • @dharkcyde You could take the pan down every few days to get more of the old fluid out of the system, or you could have the system flushed where they take all of the fluid out and replace it with new fluid.

  • I just replaced the transmission valve body on my Mercury Sable (same car as the Ford Taurus) and I did have to drain the pan and this video was very helpful. I have watched it in the past to service my transmission and just looked it up again as a refresher to watch the cross pattern of bolt tightening on the pan! Thank you Mike Green and 1A Auto for demonstrating jobs such as this that take the difficulty away. Your video showing how to replace a serpentine belt was also very helpful to me!

  • @dpgmuchogordo You're welcome. Thank you for checking out our auto repair channel on YouTube.

  • is it hard to change the oil pan gasket for the same car

  • @newmanto03 We currently do not have a video that shows you how to do this. There may or may not be a few things in the way that you might need to remove such as a axle.

  • @newmanto03 hey i just replaced a piston and connecting rod and bearing with engine in car so i had to remove oil pan which was harder getting off then putting on for some reason. the thing that makes it difficult is the exhaust runs closely to one end of the oil pan you will have to disconnect at both manifolds as i did or maybe you could just unbolt the pan and remove old oil pan gasket and finagle new one in, i bet it could be done and would be the easiest way.

  • You said that about 6-8 quarts drain out but the owners manual states that on a 2006 Taurus 3.0 Gas the capacity is 13.5 quarts. So only half of the fluid drains out? How can we get the rest of it out without having it flushed? Or is that even possible? Thanks for any help.

  • @daverocker1 HI, Yes unless you have the transmission flushed or remove it from the motor and take is apart, this is all that will come out of the pan.

  • @1aauto Tonight I changed the transmission filter and fluid. Exactly seven quarts came out. Just to let others know. Thanks.

  • @daverocker1 the extra fluid is in the torque converter

  • Great Video helps me for repair in Germany. I must repair by my self. No US Repair shop here.

    Danke aus Deutschland!

  • great video!!!

  • Thank man. This is my next project on my 04.

  • I just wanted to issue a response to this video, If your Taurus has a AX4N or AX4S 4 speed transmission, DO NOT USE DEX/MERC III transmission fluid unless your dipstick OR manual tell you to. Use Mercon V or Mercon 5, which is a full synthetic transmission fluid that Ford introduced Mercon V/5 in 1998-2002. Be sure to check first before adding as the 2 fluids are NOT compatible with each other and will/have been proven to cause serious tranmission malfunction. Great Vid 1A Auto as always!

  • You are the man..Thanx a lot for this help...Right now my Ford losing transmission oil(dripping slowly) so I guess I either lost a screw or it got loosen..Thanx a lot again..

  • Nice Video. Thanks my Taurus manual didn't say how to service the Transmission Fluid. Great quality video too!! Good work!

  • Great Video Just what i was looking for i need to do this to my Sisters 06 Taurus. Thanx for putting this up!!!!

  • @trance31gamer Your welcome, glad we helped to solve your issue. Have a great day. 1aauto.com

  • that thing from 4:18 is stuck really bad on Transmission aand i just want to know is it hooked up to something and whats inside it because i started trying to peel it off and its in there really good!

  • @abbasisproduction Get in between it and the transmission housing an just bend the plastic. Notice how bent up it is when I pull he plastic ring out.

  • can i use blue rtv on the gasket, to hold it in place?

    thanks

  • @brownmachine6969 I don't recommend RTV

  • I just did this on an 03 Taurus with the 3.0 with the 19 bolt pan and the dipstick clearly says use MERCON V plus the pan bolts were 8 mm. There is also a dimple in the pan where the magnet goes. This one took 6.5 quarts just like you said. Great video, thanks for posting.

  • Hi: I have a 99 Tarus, so I'm assuming it's about the same procedure. Do I need to change the gasket when I change the flluid and filter?

    thanks,

  • @rzerndt Yes Most transmissions use this procedure. You do not HAVE to replace the gasket but it is usually a good idea.

  • @1aauto,, first off great video info,,i have a question. How do I stop my transmission fluid from constantly leaking from my 01' taurus? Please help me...what should I do about this?

  • @babiboib7 Get under there and find out where it is leaking from. Most likely you need to replace the gasket for the pan. Do not overtighten the bolts. If your bolts have been overtightened previously you'll need to straighten the pan or get a new one.

  • at the end you have to tell us about the magnet. .when clean pan where you put it

in same place. great video...... little detail. ok.

  • @vicquiles Yes I just take the magnet out, clean it off and put it right back in the same spot.
