  • He is honestly talking about PCP.. A lot of rappers chose it as their drug of choice, look at "Leak Bros", it's Tame One and Cage talking about nothing but PCP in every song. Connect the words in this song and tell me I'm wrong.

  • WARNING!! I'm about to come across as a pretentious twat when I say this but... A joint + a dark room + this poetic genius, helps me to escape to another plane of existence. I'm buzzin right now, I can't thank Aes Rock enough!!!

  • its bivuoac my progression r tard

  • im just trying to be someone i can talk to in the morning with a smile ...

what a definitive way to finish off a track

  • reconassaince sleeping fossil genie bottle optimist

  • More lyrics corrections:

Right before he says "I'm Mozart", he says "I ride."

It's "Let's prepare Barnacle City for the end-all noosings"

  • A little lyric correction for the uploader, he says cow not cat. You've seen those cows w/ nose rings:

And when science proposes to art beside that peaceful sea

I'll be that cow with a ring on a pillow shouting "FINALLY!"

  • Enough stupid comments thinking you know everything about everything. Enjoy the amazing song.

  • He's talking about PCP

  • most prolific poet in his time... i wonder if he makes up words??? lol, jus playin.... los causes and all, what a great man. werd up. qp@d3

  • Such a tune, anyone know where the female vocals are from?

  • Comment removed

  • What album is this from? Or is this a newer song?

  • @NathanExplosion55 this is off the EXTREMELY hard to get a-hold-of "Euphony". It was released in 2001 by 'Cryptic One's' Centrifugal Phorce records. It was like a collaboration/showcase album featuring a bunch of DefJux buds and of course...The Atoms Family.

  • wait? you mean to say that Aesop Rock uses metaphors???? ohhhh... now it all makes sense

  • Aesop is a diamond in the rough. His style is so soothing and refreshing its ridiculous. Everytime you listen to a song you get a new meaning and more questions rise up in the back of your head. Every time something clicks as another thought breaks. That's the beauty of what this man had brought to the table. How many platinum rappers use 4-5 syllable words in their rhymes, huh?

  • The water ain't safe no more!

  • In "How-To.Rap", Aesop Rock says: "The way I write - it comes more naturally for me to be into an abstract idea. It takes a while to sit and hatch it all out on paper, but it’s what I want to write, so it’s what gets me excited. I don’t go out of my way to listen to only abstract hip-hop or anything like that. I like it when people do whatever comes naturally to them."

That's a really fantastic book that he is in, they got lots of gems from almost all of the best intellectual hiphop artists.

  • this shit is so fucking fresh. how does it only have 150 thousand views??

  • god damn aesop over does it with his lyrics. what the fuck is a tiger striped ego?

  • @barnumeffect5 for someone who's been in a psychosis, it's pretty clear. You should see the music video for "we can make the world stop" by The Glitch Mob. Cat people are all around.

  • you know its a work of art hwen the chorus is hard to find...

  • The beauty of music comes from stirring the soul.

You sir, have stirred my soul

  • stop SOPA and PIPA acts now! God Bless. nwr.

  • Jack Ripper in Dr. Strangelove gets this song on a level we could never understand.

  • What album is this on?

  • @CaptainSpaulding89 Which is it not on?

  • @Alias1hundo lol thts wat i was thinkin

  • beat sounds like something off halo or legend of zelda

  • Sigh...i have to do this. Aesop Rocks songs have no definite, concrete point to them he himself said they were nonsensical. It is all about your PERCEPTION of this song, what do you get out of it? what does this song mean to you? you don't have to be a genius to understand, he said himself that you'd have to have had no interest in pulling anything from them in the first place to not understand or grasp anything from it. Thats the beauty of his music it's just different for everyone

  • @Klonzepam Actually you're very wrong. Aesop said he's got something specific in mind when he writes his stuff and that he's not purposefully trying to create songs that are understood differently by everyone. He did say hes got no problem with people having different perceptions of what a song is about, but it is NOT his intention. I'd like to know where he says that his lyrics are nonsensical. I don't believe you and I think you made that up just to give credibility to your opinion. No offense

  • @HOLIDAY112 On his wikipedia page, there's a quote where in the interview he says some of his lyrics are nonsensicle

  • @Klonzepam I appreciate your dignified response, but I think you misread man. Here's the quote that you're probably thinking of that I got off wiki. "I'm no genius by a long shot, but these songs are not nonsensical, that's pretty preposterous. I'd have to be a genius to pull this many nonsensical records over people's eyes."

  • @Klonzepam My girlfriend thinks the same thing as you - that every listener has their own perspective - and I respect that. I'm just saying that wasn't Aesop's intention and he actually has something specific in mind even though it's not always decipherable

  • @HOLIDAY112 There is an objective reality- an objective truth. Klonzepam, to say that truth is what you make it proposes that there is no objective truth. If that is so then there is no standard by which you say that truth is what you make it, because you hold that to be an objective truth while at the same time rejecting objective truth.

  • @Psyentists haha awesome

  • @Psyentists Sounds like something from evangelion

  • @Klonzepam Can't trust Wikipedia, even if so, music is suppose to be taken to your own perception, I'm able to take these "nonsensical" words and relate,

  • You're right fluoride isn't that unsafe it just lowers your IQ.

  • This song isnt about literal water...its a metaphor for the world, and he says it in the beginning . "The water isn't safe, the LAND is made out of water " and he's just saying the future of man doesn't seem so good.

  • Fluoride isn't that unsafe, especially with how much is in drinking water. It makes your teeth stronger

  • @Sturtzies flouride is a carcinogen

  • @FSVR54 so is aging

  • @Sturtzies asmuch is that is true, if over consumed it allows more lead topass in your liver which will give you brain damage so watchout people...no disgrace to your comment because you are equally correct

  • @Sturtzies and kills you slowly from the inside out

  • @Sturtzies and considering the fact its in toothpaste aswell (which explicitly tells you not to ingest any and if you do to go to the hospital), your teeth get much more than would be needed for this use resulting in a damaging effect. you dont need any more than whats in your toothpaste. and the flouride they use is waste material that they would otherwise have to pay for to dispose, but instead WE pay them to dump there toxic waste into our water supply

  • @Sturtzies it only damages your memory and is added to water in the united states. The only city it isn't added in is washington d.c. aint that sketch as shit.

  • @Sturtzies fluoride is a primary ingredient in antidepressants

  • @drodude301 thats very disturbing to know

  • I hate to think that most of america is too stupid to understand and therefore appreciate aesop rock

  • @encef1 You know, you really gotta feel good about yourself as a person who can listen to Aes and hear wisdom. It's a warm fuzzy feeling.

  • @encef1 9/10 of the people, such as yourself, who comment things like what you have just typed, can't understand Aesop themselves. You only comment this to make it seem as though you understand his abstract lyrics in their entirety, trying to appear as if you have some higher-levelled grasp of language.

Please, you don't. So stop lying to yourself and pissing me off. (:

    Peace

  • @TheAsianWorm Actually, you're on to something. I can't understand his songs until I listen to them 50 times. But I enjoy them. I was also expressing my anger that he isn't better known, not mainstream, but known enough that he didn't have to have a day job in addition to rapping.

  • @encef1 Fair point my friend. :)

  • aesop rock is very well known in the underground world and definitely doesnt have any other job lol X

  • @TheAsianWorm You're right, people seem to think that they have to some sort of genius to be able to enjoy Aesop. I don't understand all of Aesops songs, but in my opinion, that's also why I like him so much, 'cause he gives me this urge to understand.

  • Fuk Mike Skinner.. Throws Red Flags Lol

  • @forthewolf325 if someone told you cynanide was good for your teeth would you praise that too?

  • aint save no more is a double negative

  • @DrunkenCacadu not in meaning, and besides, its not a double negative - no more means anymore; the no refers to the more not safe.

  • Aesop rock should do a song with Mike Skinner

  • I just think it's sad how many people are missing out on music like this.

  • @jordan2704

I think you're more sad about how many people can't respect music like this. It's getting listened to... it permeates the culture, instead of exlpoding into it and immediately fading away ala Lady Gaga, blah blah blah

  • Aesop Rock takes the metaphorical cake.

  • too smart for rap

  • @angelospingos no no no...hip hop has always been meant to be like this...check out Canibus, K Rino, Prince Ea, Killah Priest and Jay Electronica...just some of many intelligent MC's.

  • I drink water

  • @forthewolf325

nevermind the fact that its poisonous. or that people in third world countries that have never brushed their teeth in their life nor had fluoride in their water have teeth whiter than yours.

youre a baddie and should feel bad.

  • @Underpaid1817 Nah mate I'm pretty sure it's called water...

  • @RobKarmic the song is metaphorical.if the water was LITERALLY not safe, we would all be sick. go back and re-read Underpaid's comment. i cant believe we this conversation has to occur

  • @fsufan26862 No I'm pretty sure he's the most literal person in existence

  • Blockhead made that album?

  • Comment removed

  • fuck

  • thumbs up if you think this video is called water and is about water... and you know it

  • @RobKarmic there are 4 idiots

  • @1992randysanchez Who are the 4 idiots?

  • @RobKarmic the ones who thumbed up your comment

  • @1992randysanchez Water you talking about?

  • @RobKarmic lmao

  • i think wen aesop says da water aint safe no more hes sayin hip hop is corrupt and cos of dat aesop isnt able 2 b a positive influence 2 people like hed like 2 b

  • All these cats aren't listening to this holy holy song

  • You are all wrong, this song is one giant metaphor about him wanting to be a better person, an example, and just over all being just clean and ahead of the pack. Its deep, real deep.

  • @owned323 Finally someone who really listens to aesop. all of his songs are so deeply in metaphor form.

  • @owned323 ive heard dat aesop susualy uses water as a metaphor 4 hip hop. which wuld make sense cos wen u rap u have flow and beats have flow and water flows. this song culd mean a lotta things.

  • Beeeeeeeeeeaat!!!!

  • am i the only one who thought he was a fat black guy?

  • @TheNathan777xx That would be his homie Vast Air..

  • Aesop Rock amazing mc

  • he has been unreal since he came out. a legend

  • the most beautiful second coming of christ that anybody had ever seen

  • I always refer to this dude as a 'Modern Day Shakespeare'... Something about his poetry has the power to resonate many generations after ours.

    That's just me tho.

  • I had a different idea what Aesop rock was.

  • I really want to know what sample that is, if it is, of the woman singing.

  • Penis.

  • Thumbs up if.

  • Beat's good, Aesop is better.

I still don't understand the fucking lyrics tho.

  • Aesop never ceases to amaze...this beat is almost too nasty

  • Thumbs up if you're pretty sure you dont care about the Flouride being dumped into your drinking water b/c you like strong teeth.

  • even reading along i had trouble following his lyrics, i feel like i might be able to catch up with aesop after listening to it ten more times. regardless of how well i understand the song, it's beautiful.

  • Thumbs up if Listverse brought you here!!!

If my comment makes you mad...you will suck cocks in hell!

  • that comment made me giggle a little.

  • anyone else notice that aesop looks exactly like fricken david blain?

  • nine people are missing 18 testicles.

  • Thumbs up if you know about the Fluoride being dumped into your drinking water.

  • @kefka777 its not all that bad, only if u drink a shit ton of it, its purpose is to clean ur teeth thats why they put it in

  • @xXACarmine37Xx its a by product of producing aluminum and theres so much of it they decided the best way to get rid of it is to lie and say its good for your teeth and put it in our water , when in fact what is does is makes a population docile.

  • @kefka777 Now I Do

  • @kefka777 who cares though? what doesnt kill u...

  • @kefka777 Despite it being a toxin, it's actually pretty healthy for your teeth in small doses. Besides the amount in the drinking water is so miniscule that in order to overdose you'd have already been dead from drinking too much water. If anything i'd be worried about the chlorine, although the amount in the water is harmless as well.

  • @ivegotamnesia They're actually linking it to influencing intellectual development. Go to flouride alert dot org and look under "Flouride Effects on IQ"

  • @kefka777 i thought that was just a rumor during the Cold War that wasn't actually true? just was made up from all of the paranoia during the time

  • @kefka777 they're trying to corrupt our precious bodily fluids.....

  • @kefka777 Shut up, faggot. Most African children can't drink water without getting cholera. A little fluoride never killed anyone.

  • @SpaceMagician but i'm sure a lot has

  • @kefka777 You's a bitch.

  • @kefka777

I don't think Aesop's song was meant to reflect the insane delusions of people worried about their "precious fluids" being poisoned by Communists

  • @GnomesAmok Communists? In this day and age? Nah, I think he's gonna blame either Liberals or Illegal Immigrants.

  • @GnomesAmok lol, was thinking the same thing, but people tend to rate things up that seem controversial. Mention Tibet and Im sure youll have a following.

  • @kefka777 and being put in infant water. Nursery® Water!

  • I listened to Aesop Rock all night one time on Acid, it is fucking mental explosions.

  • @SelfAware1 lol join the club bud ;)

  • Aesop is LEGEND.

  • how the hell could anyone dislike this waite people with no good music taste

  • rewritten for Aesop: Aesop is a fucking genius...all his lyrics make so much sense that they don't...His Instrumentals/Beats are the best; his flow is fantastic... there isn't anything wrong with his music at all...It's fucking perfect!

  • I showed this song to my friend and he was like godaamn.

  • Aesop Rizzle with a water pistol

  • I find it funny how everyone comments on Aesop rock songs stuff like "If you don't understand what he's talking about you're stupid or you're not listening properly" etc etc. When no one really bothers at all to offer their own opinions haha. Could someone in their infinite wisdom explain this song for me?

  • Someone should make a basketball mix tape using this song. None of that

LeBron bullshit though... make it a real, exciting player like Nash, Kobe, Dirk or Durant.

  • @PapaCodySlim I Want to see him to, but I think that his ticket prices are a little much. I think that he's selling them for essentially as much as phish.

  • Ace riggity rock

  • im glad to see there are still some people left that know good music

  • what album is this song on?..........much love to ase rigidy rock

  • im calling every one i now just found the dopest fuckin song ever the beat givs me chills it fells amazing

  • "Here ten thousand hackers deep in a movment

Thats 20,000 crucial ruby heels clicking in unison."

    Aes is a stunning poet

  • Great song!!!!

  • i would like thank God for Aes Rock... Without him, i wouldn't listen to hip hop anymore, as well as a few more underground hip hop heads... Hip hop is not dead, it is ALIVE, hidden in the shadows of the underground... For every shitty ass mainstream rapper out there, there is a genius lurking in the darkness of the underground. Amen for true hip hop music!

  • @deliveryboy1 Keep preaching the truth, brother. Greatest rapper of all time right here, Ace Rizzle.

  • Best song ever.

  • Anyone know where I can find this song other than youtube?

  • @killmurphy i think in might be b-sides and raritys

  • @420Harlequin definitely

  • ANY RAPPERS WAN' COLLAB MESSAGE ME

  • This dude is bad ass

  • Love this

  • they got an excellent interview with Aesop Rock where he goes through his lyric writing methods, its in the HOW-TO RAP book thats out now

pretty much all the greatest underground groups and classic hiphop groups are also in that book breaking their processes down, its incredible

  • Every time I listen to Aesop I'm inspired to make music.

  • Does anybody understand what he's speaking about?

  • @cardiacthapoet water.

  • @cardiacthapoet depression, and a person's willingness to fight the ills of the world and the ills within themselves

  • Def Jux FTW

  • Yo wussssupp, I'm 15 and I rapp. Sorry bout the spam but check me outt?

    Aesop is a legenddd.

  • easop is the best rapper

  • @AudioAstronaut5000 if you like him so much then learn how to spell his name!!

  • @StirCrazyCalmness It was prolly just a typographical error. We all mix letters up now and again when we type too fast. If you notice sometimes posters hit the wrong key which is right next to the intended key. I'm assuming that's what happened with that one. Hell even I do it from time to time when I don't review my reply before

    i submit it.

  • Anyone can find the sample of the woman singing in the background?

  • 7 people are deaf.

  • looks at these fuckin lyrics! this dude throws down novels on each song!
