  • this song start with a great tune and after that come great voice of sk

  • wow. xxx

  • Played at our wedding in 1968

  • WHEN ALL THE STARS IN THE SKIES MADE LOVE TO YOUR EYES

  • This man is my father. This was one of my favorite songs together with "She Wears My Ring". And as I reach my 50th birthday today, I am always reminded of the good times we've had through the years. It is so nice to hear so many beautiful comments. Thank you all for continuing to support him.

    Miss you dad, Love Dean

  • @madmanufanforever Dean, In 1968 I was just happened to visit First Assembly of God Church in Lakeland, Florida and your father got up and sang a song called 'Babylon is Fallen'. Forty five years later I still remember that experience. Just recently I looked him up and was disappointed that so little of his music is available and apparently no videos. I didn't know at the time that I was witnessing a part of history, the greatest voice and presence of our life time. Oh to go back, Gary

  • @gtemplin44 memory is a wounderfull thing'' you are so luckey to have to have had the pleasure of a wounderfull man

  • @madmanufanforever be proud, your father is the best singer ever. Why we have not any video material of him?

  • he had the best voise ever wish i cauld sing like that

  • awesome

  • One of the best crooner in the world ever. He was a special person, energetic. His voice very strong and at the other hand is smooth.

  • what a fantastic voice

  • Any singer - male or female - who can provoke an emotional reaction has GOT to be exceptional. The tone, passion, clarity and sheer beauty of Solomon King's voice is guranteed to bring tears to my eyes... and I'm a 50 year old man!

The real tragedy is that this guy was never really the superstar treatment he shoudl have received. How bloodty sad and annoying that so-called 'stars' who could not hold a condle to him became feted as they while this guy languished virtually unnoticed.

  • What an amazing voice, love love this man....thank you for posting this...

  • anyone able to post "somewhere in the crowd"?....its another of his great songs

  • @logroll32

As requested 'Somewhere in the crowd' (also one of my favorite songs) is online now

  • A real classic!!!!!!!!

  • awesome singer

  • can anybody sing this song like sk, lets try

  • awesome music great singer

  • Love this, only previously heard version by Pat Lynch & the Airchords (Irish Showband scene). Both versions great, have never heard of Solomon King. Love his powerful voice!

  • And all the stars in the skies made love to your eyes till the dawn. BRILLIANT.

  • Solomon had training as a Vocalist when he was younger, and boy, didn't the lad do well too!!.

  • They dont come any better than this.

  • Amazing ! The singer with great vocal ability. Thank you nature that the earth can produce such singers. Just this moment I open Solomon King

  • This record was on the juke box of my local pub in 1968-69. I was 18 at the time and all the regulars were around the same age- up to their early 20s. Nobody over 25 ever went in the pub, yet this song was played constantly. When you consider the great music that was around at the time, this is testament to how truly great this song was.

  • I have the album with this and several others on including She Wears My Ring and I think there should be a CD of this so many more people can enjoy Solomon King music. He has always been a favourite of mine, SO, I am going to produce one, just have to sort out the copyright fees and then all systems go.

  • To me, this is the best song, praise to the person who composed it. It was sung by the best singer in the world, Solomon King.

  • A favourite of my late father. What a powerful yet contolled voice.

  • A favourite of my late father. What a poweful yet controlled voice!

  • Gerry - I discovered Solomon King in 1967 when I resided in Mauritius and heard 'She wears My Ring'.His great voice attracted my interest and I rushed to the shops to buy the follow-up 'When We Were Young'.I bought all of his Singles releases after that and completed my collection with his 3 album releases.Iam now 60 years old and I shall never forget his amazing voice.

  • @ggboribon Hello, i 'm a mauritian , still living there. Funny enough, Mauritius is the only place i've heard Solomon King. My parents had the LP with that song. The record is still here but in a very bad state. I tried to record it in MP3 but inaudible !. Looked for that album during my trips abroad without success. And i learned that he passed away a few years ago. Sad

  • such a beautiful evocative song.Thank you so much for posting it.

  • Co za wspaniały głos!!!

  • Very underrated singer, saw him live in the British Legion club in Guisborough in the 1970's I remember we where all overwhelmed by the range of his voice.

  • Saw Solomon live ,in a small pub in Torquay, just brilliant. Sadly passed away several years ago.

    Cheers, John.

  • @hannah1184 I met Solomon Back in 1979, He was Living In Manchester and became friends of My uncle, He came to My home town and raised a lot of money for local charities. He was a very very Big guy, He had a great Powerful voice. He was also a Backing singer for Elvis Presley in the Early days, And I also read He was the 1st white Backing singer for Billie Holiday.

  • nice song and greate voice rip solomon

  • i love dis song.

  • nice song

  • solomon was a great talent and this was a great song.

  • absolutely beautiful voice and song

  • Awsone, awsome voice and a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing it!!

  • This is unbelievable.I LOVE this song!!

    Thank you Goldenoldies so much.

  • He's dead!!

    2005 of cancer.

  • Nice song.

  • At 6 ft 8 inches tall it is said, apparently, that some TV interviewers refused to have him on their shows unless he sat down. Stupid little twattocks! His voice would have towered above them anyway. A singing voice like a buried treasure chest.

  • What a wonderful singer. With a voice like that, he should have been world famous!

  • tdsouza743,

I agree with you - he has unmatchable vocal range.

I posted this in "She wears my ring."

"When I was 15, I was totally taken up by one of the most powerful voices which was able to descend to the lows and ascend to the highs without a compromised pitch. If Solomon King felt that he was the best singer in the day, I would fully agree with him. Powerful voice that bring powerful memories of my youth. This song cannot be sung any better - 100 to 100 salutations from me."

  • What a magnificent voice - I defy any singer to match the vocal range that Solomon King possessed. Thanks very much for sharing "When We Were Young" - it is a treasure.

Personally, I am a die-hard Jim Reeves fan, but I believe Jim would have taken his hat off to Solomon King had he lived long enough to hear him.

  • @tdsouza743 Solomon King's vocal range can be possessed by other recording artists. It is his voice quality, his smooth diaphragm singing style and his stamina that other artists lack.

In this song, he sounded like he was singing on the mountain top and his voice really echoed. If you love this song sung by Solomon King, I am rather surprised that you're a die-hard fan of Jim Reeves who had a very simple singing style.

  • This is so beautiful, i have this on a cassette only, this brings back memories, thanks so much for adding this classic from Solomon, simply beautiful.

  • omg! I did'nt know he sang this song. I heard Englebert Humperdinck's version, and always love it. But this, this is absalutely wonderful. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

  • ask me, i,ll have all his records even when he was Randy Leeds.

  • I so love this song , Solomon King was fantastic, what a voice

  • Please make us happy and add some video material of the KING, or any his foto. I,ll meet him in Split, Croatia ( ex Yougoslavia )

  • An absolute voice. Wow. He meets *every* note perfectly. What an incredible honour to hear his voice. Thank you Solomon King.

  • Bloody awesome singer. Can't get his records, cassettes or CD's for love nor money. Why don't EMI re-market his music so that his family left behind can benefit from his amazing talent.

  • I am married to one of Solomon King's sons. It is so nice to hear these comments and know that people still enjoy his music. This is my husbands favourite song of his dad's.

  • have you any video material of the KING?

  • No sorry we haven't any videos of him.

  • Hi,

I met Solomon several times in the 60's.

When he stayed at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and was appearing at The Cranberry Fold. He lived in Manchester then .

    Where is he now ?

    chrisam11

  • the best singer ever. i have everything what he recorded, just ask me.

  • I would lov to have copies of his music. Had them on record which somebody borrowed and never returned.

  • This is a wonder song from a wonderful singer. I've been looking for this song for a long time. thanks GoldenOldies101 for uploading.

  • You're welcome! I'm glad you like it.

  • what a fantastic voice, clearly his record company at the time failed to market this man properly, he was a truly wonderful singer.

  • I am from jersey and my mum and dad saw him many times there. My dad had his album and it was one of the many albums that got played on a sunday morning . those were the good old days.

  • He worked in Jersey channel islands in the late sixties at the la bel atoile with Bobby Knoxall a comedian from Northeast of England.

  • this is an amazing song from an amazing singer. she wears my ring is brilliant too but i prefer this one. superb.

  • A good old song, used to sing back in yj\hose days SAM

  • fuckin amazing performance.what a wasted talent.

  • Can I get the lyrics for this song ? Patrina

  • I remember this song from my high school days, in Sri Lanka, 40 years ago. We rated it as most difficult song that was ever sung in popular music. My opinion has not changed, since. I think of it often and had not heard it for the last 30 years or so. Thanks very much for posting it. If you could give me a any details of it's availabilty on CD would be welcome.

  • Thanks for you comment. Glad you like this song. About the details for a CD I do have to disapoint you. There is not one single CD of Solomon King available. I contacted people all over the world but Solomon King only made a few LP's in 1968-1969-1971. There is no music company who releases a CD of Solomon King.

  • @GoldenOldies101 You said there is no music company that releases a CD of Soloman King. That is a real pity. For a sentimental song, I will rate his voice a grade higher than most of the recording artists and that also includes Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck.

I fell in love with this song sung by Solomon King when I first heard it. I will love to sing it, can anybody tell me whether it is available in Karaoke. If so, how can I obtain a copy?

  • @GoldenOldies101 i enquied for a cd at sanity in aus they told me there was a cd

  • Fine Fine voice..

    Dor

  • I met Solomon King in the late 1970's, My late uncle was a Freind of his, he was staying in Manchester at the time and My uncle brought him to My home town to a charity night, He brought the place down with his Great voice, he stayed at our house for 2 nights, he could eat like a bear My Mum was rushed off her feet. • who dared to call himself this way??

  • Thanks a bunch, GoldenOldies101! I've been looking for this song for absolutely yonks now. This geezer has got to be one of the most underrated singers ever. His voice is simply magnificent.
