This is amazing. Been watching a lot of these today. What strikes me though, is the number of comments criticizing the interview subjects or not getting the joke. They are in on the joke. Some just play along and some try to match wits but no one is getting hurt. People are so quick to look for insult and injury these days. These interviews are just a really good time with a brilliant improv artst.
@peteblaxmith ALL Jiminy's guests knew it was Martin Short. How can any celeb agree to go on a show without knowing the character, nor who plays that character! They all went through the show, script, beforehand, then improvised on the basis of the general script.
I cannot believe how funny that was. I honestly don't know how Short didn't choke and laugh, that was just hilarious. Thank you once AGAIN, Chalomirof63, I love every Jon and Conan upload so much.
@MargotVoguey LOL - very welcome. Watching someone crack up is funny in itself; and neither can I understand how Short did the whole bit without breaking up himself. If I were in that situation, I wouldn't have gotten one second into the interview without losing it.
I think when Jiminey had his hand out talking after the first donut and Jon puts another in his hand, was definately NOT rehearsed. Shows how they just fed off each other. From what I hear most of this is done ad lib.
@chalomirof63 Sorry, but real laughs "from the gut" don't stop on a dime. That's a Hollywood fake laugh. Look at 4:00... "gut-busting" laugh then instant stop. Again at 4:57. Fake laugh. It's a Stewart staple. Sammy Davis Jr. was the master but Stewart is the heir.
@romanticwarrior97 Fair enough. I guess there's no way to determine whether it's fake or real, and it's a personal perception of what's pretentious and what's real. Maybe on Jon's show, he is a bit hammy and put-on, but in this particular instance, to me, at least, the laugh seemed more than genuine. I mean: when you're faced with Jiminy stuffing his face as he is here, I think even the most sophisticated and cool person would break up.
@chalomirof63 This is easily the most civil conversation I've witnessed on YouTube. No "fag," no "douchebag," no "twat," etc. or any other puerile insults thrown around...I know this sounds rather silly and trivial, but I'm so sick of seeing flame wars erupt over religion, race, politics, etc. ...even if the video covers the most inane subject matter! Kudos to the both of you!
@soojb7799 LOL - many thanks, and I assume you're referring to me and "romanticwarrior97"? But I have been known to go ballistic with some people. I guess one's reaction depends on the nature of another's comment. Cheers, :)
I agree with you. Here's my take. Jon is the straight man here. His calm explanation of his addiction makes Glick gluttony all the more hilarious. However, they didn't plan this bit before hand. It's only natural to laugh at someone smeared in doughnut. Jon breaks for a second, then gets right back into it. You can see it in other Glick interviews. The guests are serious, but the insanity makes them break sometimes.
@FutureCatLady80 Amen!!! Thank you!! And you can see this laugh was totally real, after he could no longer control it. Yes: the juxtaposition of Jon's woes with Jiminy "smeared in donut".....LOL LOL, (you just made me laugh again!!). Cheers, :)
I watched this clip only because it was posted in a Stewart fan board. It was interesting when he started getting into his past, describing that addiction. Its pretty amazing when a man describes his weakness, & what it was like.
Too bad Jon couldn't finish because this idiot started cramming his face. I get that his character's probably the epitome of that annoying guy you're itching to kick in the teeth, but seriously! He was trying to describe what was probably the darkest part of his life!
@SapphireBlaze9 Now, do you actually think Stewart went on Jiminy Glick's show expecting it would be a serious therapy session?! C'mon, please. And, I think Jon's uncontrollable laughter would certainly indicate that he wasn't exactly emotionally devastated by the experience. I hope I don't hurt you, but, GET REAL!
@chalomirof63 Holy shit, I know, right? Why are people acting like Martin Short did some bad thing to Jon Stewart while he was trying to open up about his past? THIS IS A COMEDY SHOW, NOT A SERIOUS INTERVIEW and I fucking lost it when Martin shoved that donut in his mouth... oh christ that was funny. If I were Jon, I wouldn't even be able to talk...
@jenfine JEN?? I was thinking of you the other day; long time no hear - LOL. Hope all's okay? Yeah, like Jiminy is a therapist! Unbelievable! And wasn't it fall-down hilarious. F.
@rachel112263 I don't know how Martin did that without puking, but at one point, you can hear him gag! But I crack up every time I see Jon lose it; never ceases to be fall-down funny.

@marvelmax03191 Actually, he says "Jon" Lebowitz - which, I believe is Jon's real name.

@chalomirof63 Ah, my mistake. I guess I thought that because Jiminy has a nasty habit of getting his guests' names wrong.
