I remember the first time I saw Sutton Foster in this show,Amazing!! I returned at Christmas and she was ill Saw the understudy instead.OH WELL!!! Traveled 3000 miles for that....Now she is about to star in Anything Goes as Reno Sweeney!!! Lynne( if you see this) I'm in for another trip and this we gottta see!!!

This was NOT Sutton Foster's first Broadway role. She was one of the many Eponines in Les Miserables before she played this role. This is the first role that she originated. Since this show, she has starred in "Little Women," "Shrek, the Musical," "Young Frankenstein," and "The Drowsy Chaperone." Next year, she will lead the new Broadway revival of "Anything Goes" as Reno Sweeney.

Where's the trill of Ethel Merman, the sultry Lisa Kirk, songbird Barbara Cook, all distinct and limitless talents. In short, where is the talent? And furthermore, why is there a play (Millie) based on the great movie, that has stripped it of most of it's songs, plot, and slick comedy??? It is but a mere suggestion of what it was as a film.

Why is it that every show now has the same voice behind the character?? Just like the Disney cartoons. Every character now sounds the same...Belle, Ariel, etc etc. This is thoroughly boring....

@doctordolittle2010 I SO AGREE. THANK YOU! I'm a current theatre major and have wondered this same thing about most modern-day musicals: why do they all have to be with Sutton Foster? Why are the stories so shallow? Pointless? Glitzy? What happened to the Fiddler on the Roofs and Barnums?

@Stevensworkshop1988 well i would think most of the time there are very few musicals of any era without the pointless glitter, there are very few without it in the first place. There are a few every once in a while, but this definitely isn't a new thing. I was surprised how new this musical was actually. I must admit that everyone needs a lil glittery ditziness once in a while, but the greats usually don't have it.

This is horrible, why does she have to sing like every other singer in the world? She doesn't have any style, she justs sits around using the same old trick of the sweet voice, with sweet intonation, she bores me to death.

Besides, why they have to change the original song by Jay Thompson? It was great as it was, why? Why? While the movie is great, real fun, with REAL singing, and real humour, the musical is crap, just made up to be on stage, very badly done.
