  • the sky is bluuuuuueee

  • this is a crock of shit. everything in this video is so false. BUT ITS STILL SO DAMN FUNNY!!!

  • Everybody's calling this a 'parody', but I tend to think that a parody is what Weird Al does. This is a 'spoof'.

  • @reverendflash Reverend, this is not only a spoof but it is VERBATIM. Get the early '70s book 'LENNON REMEMBERS' and read it. These lyrics are 100% from the book in Lennon's words. The very first line in the book is John saying 'I would have been a fisherman but I couldn't because I'm a F*& Genius. It's really a great read because later he breaks down how he & Paul wrote the songs. This is a parody but is 100% Lennon statements. That's what makes it so great! Lennon was bitter at the time.

  • The parody is hilarious. My original copy back in the 70's had the naughty words beeped. LMAO! Thank you for the post.

  • Yoko is proof that John was a schmuck...

Im just glad once we got out of the 1970s, you were allowed to hate John Lennon and be under 30. He really did say some of the stupidest shit ever... And make some really horrible music...

    Overrated and underhated... The Walrus.

  • @whitepapagold Right ! , you wish you were as over rated. Sure he may have been a schmuck about ol' screaming Yoko , But the dude wrote at least 50 #1 hits. And changed to direction of music for a whole Generation. Please ... with your over rated shit. No one in your generation ever came close to that kind of success , Or pure talent.

  • @googoobh You dumb ignorant schmuck. Not only was I there, I am a full time recording engineer. My generation? You assume too much! So not only was I there when he was an ignorant overrated schmuck, but I actually MAKE RECORDS for a living!!!! So sit at home, with your record player, and wish it was 40+ years ago... The only thing better than a posting "has been" is a posting "never was"! Bittany Spears, The backstreet boys and Milli Vanilli also had #1 hits...But Im pretty sure they suck too!

  • @whitepapagold You must have been some crap recording engineer then to not understand the influences Lennon and the Beatles had on even that arena. I doubt you recorded anything beyond garage bands. Plus you were barely Born back then , I could shovel tons of groups that are and were influenced by the Beatles and if you don't believe that , your a complete lying shit. The Beatles had the top forty to their own for years fool. Your some stupid hater , who really doesn't know shit.

  • @googoobh Look how seriously pissed off you are at the internet! Im just glad you learned how to use a computer! Again, how could you possible have a clue as to how old I am? But still, theres nothing better than a never was like yourself- everyones got an opinion! Millions of Americans have also bought the clapper (Im sure you are familiar with the product). That doesn't change the fact its for fat lazy old people! Kinda like the Beatles!!! They just ripped off the Rolling Stones anyway!

  • @whitepapagold Your channel says your 37 idiot. You weren't even born soon enough to know OK lunkhead , there are tons of footage of bands , from then to now attributing the Beatles as both inspiration and knowledge. That includes interviews with member of the Stones saying the Beatles pushed them to be better. Your cute analogies aside , you couldn't be more wrong. The Beatles aren't even my favorite group of that era , but I can recognize their inventiveness. What a sour little mind you have.

  • @googoobh Come on... Poligrip got your tongue? Here Ill use ALL CAPS SO ITS EASIER FOR YOU TO READ! WHAT ARE THESE BEATLE INFLUENCED BANDS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT? AND I MEAN ONES POST 1973... JOHN LENNON WAS THE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE OF HIS DAY... BUT AT LEAST JUSTIN HAD NO YOKO. AND NOW HE CAN DO MOVIES. THE ONLY MOVIE JOHN DID WAS A CARTOON ABOUT A FREAKIN YELLOW SUBMARINE... WOW. CUTTING EDGE HUH. REALLY PUSHING THE LIMITS OF VIDEO AND CONCEPTUAL THOUGHT. HE WAS JUST A PSUEDO-INTELLECTUAL PUD.

  • @whitepapagold Ah your true small minded colors show , dog of idiotsy. Most of anyone you would idolize would probably laugh at you. You are so alone on this issue it is comical. Enjoy your pissing contest and duck reality for a bit more "OH PUTZ O' DE WASTE" I argue with a jealous little child. For that I should be ashamed.

  • Stupendous, except Einstein was a plagiarist of Tesla. Great vid.

  • Pretty poor. I must be a genius because it pained me to hear that! We all have bad days and John being a genius was quoted a lot. How about a song about your worse thoughts on bad days?

  • All the lyrics for this song are taken from things Lennon actually said during his Rolling Stones interviews. None of the words are made up. He actually said all of it. Hendra just exaggerates it a little bit more for comedic effect.

  • One of the greatest song parodies ever written.

  • There's some great stuff on "Radio Dinner", but this is the only cut that brings tears to my eyes. Great frigging job! THANK YOU

  • I laughed so hard at the "him with his fucking hare krishinas" part, poor george, but it was so fucking hilarious

  • Most of the lyrics are taken verbatim from the Rolling Stone/Jan Wenner interview "Lennon Remembers". I'm a huge Lennon/Beatle fan, his good far out ways his bad, but let's not forget he could be a douche at times. Thanks for posting this.

  • "Where the fuck is Ian?!"

    "He should be here."

  • @tommyrock69 made me laugh.

  • Ah, this is good stuff, and a blast from the past - I absolutely destroyed this track playing it so much when I was a teen. Effing HILARIOUS.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Your visuals are good and it was fun to hear this again after soooooooo many years.

  • I remember my friend bringing this over in the early 70s...hilarious. btw, does anyone remember "The Missing White House Tapes" album. Mine got damaged on the hat rack in the car but dearly miss Rev. Grahm's swearing out ceremony.

  • Linda Eastman was hardly middle-class anything. Her family's business partnered with Kodak.

  • @rookieninetynine haha , the reference to Eastman is Lee Eastman!! HAHA Not Linda

  • @rookieninetynine

WRONG! George Eastman, the founder of Eastman Kodak, had no heirs.

  • @jlamay

I don't know about Eastman heirs, but you are right about LInda not being related to them. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I was wrong about Linda being related to the Eastman I referred to. I read that over 20 years ago, and have believed it since. But it was refuted recently, and I now believe that she was not related to the Eastman corporation founder.

    Good call.

  • Vambo..

10+ years ago, I went to DOZENS of used vinyl record stores trying to find The National Lampoon comedy record that contained this parody (no dice). Let me express my HUGE gratitude for not only posting it but the great job with the slides and the lyrics. Fantastic. I've told DOZENS of Lennon fans over the years about this masterpiece. Awesome, bud. Thank you.

  • @craighodges This was originally on "Radio Dinner" then later was on "Greatest Hits". They're all over ebay, if you're still looking... GREAT STUFF

  • God, I love this bit. Good job on the visuals, Vambo.

  • Had this old LP, funny as hell over three decades ago.

  • I knew every word to this at 2 years old and ya know it's even more brilliant to me now at 39. Thank you for posting it.

  • @scarrie If you knew every word of this at two then you learned your cuss words real young!

  • @scarrie I did learn more than I should have at that age. I even brought friends over to hear it. Mom was 19 and a hippy ;)

  • this is just as funny to me as it was in 1970. hooray for whoever posted it!!!!

  • I am the only one who matters in songwriting.

  • Comment removed

  • That's right, RS1971

  • Great tune! You have the best sounding version. Thanks for sharing.

  • CLASSIC - Based on John Lennon interviews at the time. I believe some may be word for word. "Eastman was an animal!" Awesome.

  • Trying to keep a straight face through all of it. And since both of my kids will get a DVD of the ceremony, it should have a special meaning to them. As it should. Treat your parents the way that you want to be treated, otherwise the crazy SOB will have the last laugh.

  • So when they dump my ashes at sea, I think this is going to be one of three songs that will be played over the 21MC. Still trying to narrow the other one. One will be "Where's The Money" Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks, because I'm leaving zero for my kids, except a 3.7 Trillion debit. I don't think the last one has been wirtten yet, but I'm something will come up that strikes me as being funny. This one certainly is. Genius IS PAIN....Imagine the young sailors having to endure 4:14 minutes of this.

  • Really, fooled me, but I can read. It's called comedy. From a different generation. And young people today think they have the lock on being funny. Nothing new there. Every generation has it's own comedy, this fortunately for me, was one of ours. People who heard this in the 70's grew up listening to George Carlin, Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Smother's Brother's, Firesign Theater, Gene Wilder and Bill Cosby, to name just a few. Go revist some of them. It's still funny today, as it was then.

  • i dont beleve this is actually john lennon

  • they should get eric idle to sing this. it's so python

  • I remember when I first heard this waaay back in the early 70's! I do believe it was the first time I ever heard the word "Fuck" on record. The lyrics taken right out of Jann Wenners' book LENNON REMEMBERS. Still a Lennon fan!

  • you are all faggots john was the best

  • John Lennon at his finest. bwahaha

  • Makes me laugh 'til it hurts; genius is pain. Thanks for posting this.

  • at the end, when he screaming and ranting i keep thinking i'm hearing him scream "Thor lived in Iceland" right after he says "whack!" or something like that. Looks like other people think he's saying "turn left at Iceland"...

THOR is funnier even tho' it's absurd.

if it's a beatle reference shouldn't it be "turn left at greenland"? i'm over ANAL-izing things like a typical beatle fan. i stop now. meh.

  • Its Christopher Guest I bought the album and still have it when I saw all the people guessing who it was I pulled the album out and checked out the credits

  • @motorsportsgarage--Difference of opinion with you==I remember the album and I've followed Tony Hendra (and John Lennon) ever since.

  • your right I re read the credits sorry

  • No biggie.

Of course, I have NEVER made a mistake.

  • I think it's Meat-Loaf.

  • Perfect! Just F'en Perfect

  • This came out in '72 when I was 10 years old - my older brother bought Radio Dinner. It cracked my shit up even then, and it still cracks me up. BWAH!

  • I wonder what Lennon thought of this?

  • The genius next to Albert Einstein is Tony Hendra.

  • Uh, I waited through this cretinous video because maybe, just maybe, it could confirm whether Tony in fact says "Thor lives in Iceland" in the outro. But you punted!!! Dang. Good song though, and yeah Tony's politics ain't cool but he's insane so... there's that.

  • tony hendra could not hold doug kenny's jock though hed probably want 2

  • Great parody

  • Turn left at Iceland! Arrrghhhhh!!!

  • So who is that in the other picture when it says "genius is pain"? There's Einstein and some other person. Who is that??

  • I think it might be Sam Kinnison. I could be wrong.

  • You are right - that is Sam K.

  • It's Eddie Vedder..

  • It's Eddie Vedder. That looks nothing like Kinnison, who was more or less bald.

  • @aphroditenjuliet other guy is Roy Clark .. a country music singer .. what a contrast!

  • @kagiso3741

That's not Roy Clark, it's Tony Hendra.

  • Thanks, NJtoTX. I can't wait to hear it. Too funny!

  • Faget this, faget that. What a depressing pile of shit. John Lennon is rolling over in his grave.

  • Right alongside that guy John beat to a bloody pulp so badly he had to use a wheelchair the rest of his life.

Sorry not every fookin thing your fookin Messiah did was all fookin Imagine and Give Peace A Faggoty Chance and shit.

  • Since John didn't go to prison for attempted murder or for assault, what did the guy do to deserve it? There ARE people who NEED to be beaten to a bloody pulp. Yes, you can give peace a chance, but some people do deserve to have the crap kicked out of them. John never pretended to be perfect, I think he was pretty cool, and the song is very funny. I bet he thought it was funny too.

  • @MichaelC2B Perfect? John was a friggin lunactic !!! Not to mention a complete hypocrite. Some people deserve to have the crap beat out of them? You mean like his wife (he used to beat up his first wife) & George Harrison & his fucking Hare Krishnas, ha ha ha ha . All the lyrics for this song are taken from things Lennon actually said in Rolling Stones interviews. None of the words are made up. He actually said all of it. Hendra just exaggerates a little & adds emphasis for comedic effect.

  • Are you aware that John Lennon once crippled a guy? Beat him so thoroughly that he had to use a wheelchair the rest of his life.

John was an asshole. Great musician, wretched human being. I'm sorry everything your fucking Messiah did wasn't all Imagine and Give Peace A Fucking Chance.

  • This song was written and performed in 1976 on the "National Lampoon Radio Dinner Hour" when he was quite alive. It is a parody of a Rolling Stones interview with him in which he pretty much said all of this. And it's spelled "faggot."

  • Faggot is ground meat and onions served hot. Faget is a derogative term for someone that is gay.

  • The dictionary says that faggot is a term used as slang for gays. Faget is not listed at all.

  • National Lampoon's Radio Dinner

  • I use to have this album from National Lampoon in the early 70's. When I first heard this song I thought it was hysterical. It still is! I will always love and miss John Lennon and that's why I think I appreciate this parody even more. My other fav on this LP was the parody of "Desiderata," called "Deteriorata". Hilarious! I'd LOVE to find that one again! Thanks for making me laugh out loud.

  • Search YouTube for Deteriorata (Fluke of the Universe). It's there.

  • I have this song on a 1972 National Lampoon's record. It has deteriorata on it too. This is a great song.

  • What a supreme performance!

The only thing better would be to have heard John do a cover of it.

  • I've been looking for this forever and kept thinking it was a Firesign Theatre parody. THANKS for posting! Funny as hell!

  • lol, so funny!

I love John, but this is perfectly parodying John Lennon, Rap, and How Do You Sleep.

  • Rap?

  • R.A.P

  • Yes, he may have been an arrogant asshole in later years, but c'mon, it's fucking JOHN LENNON. Hasn't he kinda earned it?

  • I remember hearing this not too long after reading Lennon Remembers, which was a book made from his notorious 1970 Rolling Stone interview. It was (and is) absolute hilarious, even more so considering that the lyrics come from Lennon's declarations in the interviews and that it is based on his musical style at the time. Listen to the Plastic Ono Band album and you'll "get" why there's so much screaming at the end of the song.

  • wikipedia > Tony Hendra

  • This is better than the Beatles.

  • do some research on tony hendra who sang this. he molested his own daughter. he is a creep.

  • always loved it

    i wonder if john would

  • More hilarious than when I remember hearing it as a tot!

  • john lennon politically correct?are you kidding?listen to his woman is the nigger of the world!

  • He was saying that women are treated like that - what, you thought he meant it literally?!

  • No I didn't think he meant it literally! I was replying to a comment where someone said these are all the things John would have said if he didn't have to be "politicaly correct" I'm saying John obviously never worried about that!

  • @triptoday John *did* say all these things - that's why the song is so funny. ;)

  • @georgygirl64uk I know John said a lot of these things--I'm saying John never worried about being politicly correct--

  • @danyl55 My bad - and you're spot on with that :)

  • Absolutely thrilling to hear this after nearly 25 years since my last listening. It is better then I remember it.

    Praise lord Krishna!

  • Praise Jesus!!!!

  • HAIL SATAN!

  • Lennon DID say all these things - this song was written by National Lampoon (Tony Hendra, who played the manager in Spinal Tap is singing) and they "lyrics" are taken from published interviews Lennon gave, mostly to Rolling Stone.

"Political Correctness" isn't the demon you think it is, blbrodbeck.

  • paedophile, and creepy. read "how to cook your daughter" by jessica hendra

  • Which has what to do with this song from 35 years ago, exactly...?

  • i make no apologies. i read his daughter's book recently and i am disgusted by what tony kendra did. if charles manson recorded a "comic song" would it get a nice little laugh from you? that's what it's got to do with.

  • Charles Manson's music was ok...

  • Tony Hendra - typical double-talking,preachy Leftist hypocrite. The old "Do as he says, not as he does" Leftist.

  • This is all of the things that John Lennon would have said, if He didn't have to be politically correct. Pretty Funny. Thank You VamboVambo, I give it 5 stars!

  • Actually this whole song is made up of quotes taken from the 1970 Rolling Stone interview with him. You can listen to the whole interview (about three and a half hours) in the form of a podcast. Just google it, it's easy enough to find. It pretty much blows the lid off the whole peace and love image of the Beatles.

  • yeah

    lennon was a badass
