@7SickoZ yea its pretty ridiculous how apple managed to cram a whole computer into that space but if you were going to get one you would probably want to go for the higher end model because the way with computers is, once you buy it, come 6 months its going to be out dated.

and the higher end models are beast, they score around 10,000-14,000 on geekbench (which is a performance test) and they have an amazing screen resolution of 2560 by 1440 (on the 27" model)

The all-in-one is a nice and neat machine, extremely pricey though. Their design placement for the usb and audio jacks is questionable too.....not very convenient is it......I am setting up my first mac for a friend a mac mini and I gotta say it's not that easy to use for a novice computer user. Who has been using my Windows machines in fact she wants Windows put on it now...... ; )

Also in the 1080p video part the video looks like it is tearing badly. Is that the camera or the mac ?

The iMac seems to take ages to find the startup disk. If you select the correct startup disk in system preferences then the logo may come up faster and the computer will then boot up more quickly.

hi I think this imac is fantastic value out of all the current macs,I have a 24" imac from 2008 and im looking to upgrade to this machine when it is on general sale as its bto for now.I looked at pro macs and cant justify the expense of a fully kitted pro mac when this quadcore imac all in one is so awesome.if i do get a pro mac in the future I will already have an awesome display to use in a few years time.

@ madefrom, I've now had my first mac for 6 months now, and I know what your going thru, DVD burning and ripping = mac the ripper, handbrake, Roxio toast. Socks is a great system utillitie, as well as dock spaces which you can setup up to switch between multiple docks and you can link those docks to spaces, so basically I've got home, office, studio, system. But obviously you can create more and name them whatever u want

@Zeptorr the mac pro quad starts at $2499 and the 8 core starts at $3299. the 27" iMac starts at $1699 for the dual core and quad core starts at $1999. the quad core iMac comes with the ATI 4850 ( not the 4870. same series of processor but a lil lower specs look them up on the ATI website) the i5 iMac quad is only a 2.66Ghz vs the i7 at 2.8 with hyper threading. go build an 8 core mac pro tho. Its insane. plus you can put bigger GPU's in them and they work fine

This Isn't the Quad Core i7. The Geekbench score for an i7 imac is above 8000 on a 32 bits test. But really good review otherwise.

Mac pro: 2x 2.93 Ghz quad core processors, 32 GB ram, 8 TB of HD, ATI radeon 4870 or 4x Nvidia Geforce GT 120's. not to mention you are able to upgrade just as you can a PC. and a mac can run Windows. Natively. Now tell me it's not powerful enough.

I really want to see how well it performs with Photoshop for extended periods of time... My computer has similar specs except processor, and it performs well in photoshop for a bit but after a while it gets unbearably slow and I have to restart it. Is it similar with this iMac or is it a much better experience?

i have the base model and even though it's a dual-core processor the speed is phenomenal. i'd say that the imac is the one machine apple sells that isn't overpriced. i bought an ibook g4 14" back in '06 and it was great, but overpriced even back then. by the way i agree the speakers are one of the best parts of the design. it sounds great when it has the desk to bounce off of and create decent bass

Trust me this machine is nowhere near over priced, if anything it's under priced. Huge 27 inch high resolution screen, ridiculous performance, can hold 16 gb of ram and bench marks above 10000. Pretty good video card and best of all an awesome OS! Compare this machine to anything on the market at it's price point and nothing compares! On top of all that the design is second to none, and the machine can be used as an external display.....for 2 grand I think it is underpriced especially when comp

I just got the i7 yesterday and it's a wonderful machine. I've got a 13" macbook pro so having the 27" display is unreal. You just have to see it in person to really get the full effect. Great review by the way.

I'm a 14 yr old boy about to go into high school next year and this is very convenient. Of course I might upgrade to a Macbook Pro, and when I'm out to college or wherever, I'm going with an iMac.
