  • What a poon, it was funny. Im offended your offended who fucking cares

  • What a hyper-sensitive douche bag that butterball turkey in the glasses was. The real jackass isn't the reporter; it's the idiot that stands in line overnight for a freaking phone! Go Eric! I love the KTLA Morning News.

  • The guy next to him was his boyfriend and the girl behind him was his bodyguard.

  • Don't try to justify it. Just apologize and we can all get on with our lives.

  • you fucking humans deserve to be destroyed

  • I would have smack the glasses off of that butterball

  • dude dont apologize fuck those dorks

  • oversensitive douche

  • i thought it was funny

  • That guy in line needs to get that stick out of his ass. What a humorless, uptight prick.

  • I love this crew, they aren't dull and monotonous like all the other ones

  • It's freaking hilarious!

  • Morons. I like how they defend him like they are baffled that no one has a sense of humor. Randomly insulting someone on national television because you think your some kind of Triump Comic Dog isnt funny. Your a reporter not a stand up comic. KTLA sucks anyways.

  • One can't get too upset about how they're debasing journalism since they're just entertainers with no sense of journalistic ethic or standards. I would be surprised if even one of them actually went to J-school. Poseurs all.

  • it's insulting. i think the reporter was being a smartass to begin with. why would you insult someone you don't know like that on national tv. if it was the other way around, he would feel the same.

  • This reminds me of the time that guys lined up for The Phantom Menace in 1999. Somebody passed out fliers for a Star Trek documentary and they were insulted.

  • This "apology" is a joke. They're laughing the whole time, and that one stuffed-shirt in the studio won't shut up. They blame the guy in line for "looking inviting." How was he supposed to know this unprofessional reporter was going to ask something like that? It's obviously all a joke to them.

  • it just a phone

  • I really don't think it was that bad. I would have asked the same question! The lady behind him thought it was funny too.

  • Why upload that video to youtube in the first place?

  • I think the reporter was out of line asking a stranger a question like that. The man should have replied, Yes.. I have one of your wife on my Iphone..would you like to see it.

  • He probably has never seen a woman naked.

  • it was funny....iphone gays

  • im sorry but its technology fucking lil kinks in the shit and is just a plastis peice of shit.

    GET------A-----------LIFE!!!

  • it was funny

  • This reporter is being honest. I went to Jr. High with this reporter and he was a nerd. He used to hang out with the "Battlestar Gallactica" crowd. I remember he was nuts about Star Wars and geeky movies like that.

  • And. you picked on him?

  • Actually, he was one grade above me. I was a nerd also, so he picked on me. In gym class, his locker was next to mine and I still remember when I was a "scrub" (7th grader) he and his friends put a lock on my gym locker so when I got out of the shower, I couldn't open my locker.

He was a nice person, actually. He told his friends to stop teasing me and made them take the lock off of my locker. He was also in my art class.

  • :-)

  • Douches!

  • whoah. most of the comments on here are sentences or paragraphs of curse or derogatory words in between every other word. don't flame me. just an observation.

  • whoever waits in line for a phone has no FUCKIN life. thats a fact

  • Why would they want a phone if they didn't have a life? Are you fucking retarded?

  • listen up you fuckin faggot!!! anybody that waits in line overnight for something that they can get later on has no life.now go fuck off u fuckin homo!!!!

  • Just because you have a phone doesn't mean you get phone calls.

  • I'll bet that the iPhone people threatened to jerk their ads from the network because Eric tried to make a dedicated customer feel foolish for standing in line for the product.

Companies don't appreciate reporters who bite the hands that feed them....

  • douche

  • The ironic twist to all of this is down the road apple will release a newer updated IPhone and people will wait in line all over again.

Though when that happens send Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to do the reporting.

  • someones a 30 year old virgin :D lmao

  • Is this journalism to you, Eric Spillman?

  • Comment removed

  • people are pussies and should be FORCED to laugh at themselves, especially if they're acting like a loser and queueing for a phone

  • fuck anyone who complained about this reporter

  • dr1345 is probably the dumest fucking shit ive ever heard of in my life..u fucking dum piece of shit.wat knd of right did he hav 2 ask a guy standing in line 4 somthing that he likes and ask him if he ever saw a women naked.this is the real problem with fucking dum faggot ass shits like u and eric dickman ovr here. ug uys r the real bitch ass faggots who hav no life..i really wish i could c u in person so i could kick ur ass u fucking pussy bitch

  • it's a fucking phone you dumb consumerist american retards and sheep! you been duped by corporation. again. anybody who thinks reporter was wrong is a fucking whiny bitch ass faggot pussy motherfucker. fuck you dumb overly sensetive americans fucktard douchebags!!!

  • don't appologize! he just asked a simple question it's the damn nerd who got thumb up his ass and started swearing! of course he never seen woman naked that's why he got all pissy. if he did he be cool about it. fucking pussy ass overly sensentive americans! grow some balls and get some brains and sense of humor people! reporter was right to ridicule these brainwashed sheep!!!

  • this isn't news, its harrassment.

  • ktla has nothing to apologize to nobody. i think its pretty stupid for people to wait overnight to wait for some gadget that costs hundreds of dollars. i have watched the morning news on ktla since 1993 and eric spillman has been one of the best site reporters in the LA market

  • It's about respect. That reporter was very rude to that guy in line. He can wait there as long as he is allowed, and shouldn't be expected to be asked lewd questions. If there is one thing that should be understood is following the golden rule of empathy in dealing with people. Would you want someone to ask you or your dad or mom what you would ask that man?If not then dont do it. As far as the apology, everyone deserves a second chance. If he learned his lesson he should stay hired

  • I'm sorry, but waiting in line for a phone? While people wait in line for rice in other countries because of shortages, we proudly wait in line for an overpriced gadget of which we probably already own something similar. Consumer culture is so absurd.

  • Dude, fuckin amen. I was just about to type something similar until i saw your comment. Its all brainwash dude, let the corporations build up hype and when you become a victim of that hype you end up like the crazy people standing outside of the store waiting for a material object which they dont need. I dont believe this guy really means his apology, he was probably just apologizing all because KTLA told him to.

  • exactly

  • that's why most of the world hates the US

  • Dude, you're not Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. You're supposed to be a journalist, act like it!

  • stanidng in a row for a phone = 100% idiot 99% american

  • Spillman; shut the hell up. KTLA: put freeway chases on instead.

  • Eric Spillman is no journalist, he's a jackass and KTLA is not news worthy, it's all crap. They are not interested in offering the viewer news, but rather entertainment posing as news. It's crap like this that makes me embarrassed to be an American.

  • i dont really like this channel, i prefer cnn

  • halarious

  • Eric Spillman is my hero

  • What dorks.

The main dork in the video got po'd because he's a dork, and he knows Spillman was calling him a dork, a geek, a dweeb & a douche bag all in one fell swoop.

Most of the people in that line already had first gen iPhones. Others have Blackberrys and smart phones. But they have to have the new one and sleep on the street to get it?

They don't need a new phone, they need a job and something in their lives that's actually important and meaningful.

Maybe they should each get a puppy.

  • Maybe so.

But that's no excuse for that guy to be an asshole.

  • i felt so sorry but anyways it was on BEST Week Ever

  • I WAS AT THAT AT&T STORE :)

  • Then go somewhere else!

  • Lol, I can just imagine...

Borat: Hello American, you are idiot to wait for eye phone.

    Customer: Excuse me?

Borat: Have you seen naked lady?

    Customer: What?

  • Well...I don't consider his opinion worth much, so I can at least have a chuckle watching him be so sheepish.

And while I, unfortunately, agree that America is "far from free" in some ways, it's still very free when it comes to purchasing big-ticket electronic items. They may be geeks, but they do stimulate the economy. And they have a right to defend themselves when a douch-bag reporter insults them.

  • If you ask me, the anchor's a bigger dickhead than the reporter. And his hair looks like a hedgehog died on his head.

  • Last time I checked, it was a free country. People can wait in line-ups for whatever they want. The reporter was a douche-bag. He did apologize, though, so end of story.

  • no don't fire him it was funny, why would you wait in line for a damn phone, its not like their going to stop making them.

  • It's not so much about the waiting for an iPhone as it is about his lack of journalistic integrity.

I admit it was funny, but not because of that loser "news anchor's" unoriginal insults.

  • fire this loser

  • HARSH!

  • fuck you petty bitch

  • Being in the news business as well, I feel very comfortable saying that this reporter is an idiot! KTLA is lucky that they guy in line didn't use less-FCC approved language. ..or gotten his petty self-absorbed ass kicked by a bunch of nerds.

  • being a TV station janitor does not qulify as being "in the news business" so STFU you fucking clownshoes!

  • dr1345, Obviously you are a true professional. Pardon me for having an opinion higher than your 3rd grade playground view of the world.

  • The sad thing is that this dork reporter seems to be jazzed that people are watching him get keel-hauled on YouTube. What a narcissist.

  • Best thing ever to stick to all these stupider-than-dirt TV reporters is YouTube. This rodeo clown is probably seething at the knowledge that only his worst moments as an 'esteemed' TV news reporter will 'go viral' here on YouTube. Thank you, YouTube, for cementing the fact that TV news reporters aren't Mensa candidates. They act so haughty and elite while saying stuff like, 'Officials aren't commenting' and 'No word yet on a cause.' Brilliant stuff.

  • Eric is a pussy for apologizing! That dude wanted Eric to stick the microphone in his face. Those dicks in line have no lives and need to get a clue. And NO, I don't have an iPhone either!

  • Eric Spillman is a good reporter 98% of the time actually he's too serious sometimes. The only other time he makes a mistake is when he reports during Valentines , he hates it. The guy in line is an uptight jerk !!! Feel bad for his family, lets hope he doesn't have kids, he needs some anger management.

  • I think this one little local channel got a bit too much attention....

  • I guess the answer to, have you seen a naked girl, is no....

  • The Reporter did the right thing, and the ANCHORS ARE BOTH FUCKING JACKASSES. Hey you two over-the-hill, wrinkled, shitheads. Fuck you. (And no I don't own an iPhone)

  • Eric doesn't deserve this, he's doing his best to apologize, and the blog nerds and everyone who has no life begins to speak out for the man who already gave Eric a piece of his mind. People who criticize Eric after his little mistake which he ALREADY PAYED FOR, are a bunch of stupid jackasses themselves, people say much worse things, and the media begins to bring this into coverage. If you feel so strongly about this as a controversy you yourself need to get a life. Eric keep reporting!

  • Eric was being kind. Should have had that insulting comic dog thing from nbc. I think he was with Conan a few times, now he is cruel and it is awesome.

But saying people you support him are in the minority, eh. People would would get upset are in the minority I think.

  • LoL douche

(fag waiting in line overnight for a fucking phone)

  • righteously indigent? Eric had no reason to apologize to that guy.

  • At least Spillman didn't do a fanboy piece about the iPhone and actually touched on the issues that surround people who queue for hours before a product launch. The guy was obviously sensitive about:

    a) being perceived as a soulless geek

    b) his continuing virginity

  • Eric has nothing to apologize for!

Eric Spillman is the original Mr Nice Guy. He can say whatever he wants and get away with it. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. How could anyone be mad at him or treat him badly? He's just a news guy getting a story and a laugh. You go, Eric!

  • Go Eric. And Go IPhone Ppl waiting in line. Although money on gas would be more better. oh well

  • The field reporter is a smug asshole, and he got what he deserved from the man in line. But the douchebag behind the desk needs a good cockpunch for being insufferable.

  • How can you be that way? Honestly how can you can you call yourself a journalist? Lmao your trash man. If I was that dude in line I would of whooped you ass.

  • lol, fear the internets !

  • what a douchebag

  • /watch?v=G0eBiRMQFvU

  • whos the guy in the brown/black suit he's the biggest tool there. "He beckoned you over" even if he did that does not excuse at all what spillman did. I bet he was ready to talk and answer questions but he didn't ask to get harassed.

  • dumb ass

  • This guy is a fucking tool. He's not apologizing because he's sorry, he's apologizing because it's expected of him. Fuck this douche bag.

  • ereyone is dump beacouse they whatch dump videos and comment (i was sweet in my exprimation)

  • Don't apologize! Ef that guy or anyone else with a "problem"

They were just GRUNPY because they spent too much time in line for a friggin phone!

  • eric spillman douchebag

  • Eric Spillman pssh.. what a Dbag!

  • In light of the situation I think he would have been better off asking the gentleman how long he stood in line for Star Wars. But it is just another phone and there will be bigger and better phones in the years to come.

  • Generally when you are in a crowd and someone you know comes up to you, you acknowledge there prescence, nodding. Its not like the guy's body language was saying "come over here I got something to say to you." This is what happens when you news revolves around entertainment. LA news sucks Philly news rocks.

  • The reporter is just embarassed that someone talked back to him and called him out on his inanity. I would have made the kid president if he said "is this what Kronkite would have done you putz

  • spillman ain't really smart.

  • So if you are receptive to talking to a stranger and show it by your body language, the stranger gets to abuse you?

And the guy in line did curtly tell him to buzz off the first glimpse of an offending statement he got. What's wrong in that approach? That the person he asked to buzz off is a "TeeVee Reporter"?

  • I like this reporter...people who line up for iPhones are fags.

  • There was no beckon. Don't be stupid.

Do you hear that gurgling sound? That's the sound of Eric Spillman's career going down the toilet.

  • Idiots

  • This is an a apology? These assholes are so uncool and lack the intelligence of reporters of old. Attacking a guy in line to purchase a Mac product (advertiser?) during a recession instead of covering: the awful state of the economy, healthcare, jobs, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Isama bin laden still free, long range missile tests in Iran, Los Angeles homeless population, Mentally ill homeless. No KTLA 'reports' on pop culture and its own bad reporting. Watch the BBC for real news.

  • Thinking that we're in a recession is like thinking 2+2=5.

  • First of all not only are these nerd, neve been with a girl jokes so lame they are so very old. Secondly what a unprofessional "news" channel, they're more like rowdy teens.

  • It was funny because the reporter made an ass of himself. His questions weren't funny at all, but it was highly amusing to see him get owned!

  • just a joke. why bother?

  • i would have shoved that mic up his ass

  • Have to agree with AnimeCrackers, this youngman is most likely a virgin, otherwise he would have answered YES. And left it at that.

  • LOL, whats wrong KTLA, you have no other news to report? The guy probly only seen naked women in playboy or something like that. It is kinda sad to interview your own journalist, but i guess you have to fit in with FOX and channel 5

  • nevermind shoulda watched more b4 i asked

  • where is the video of them arguing

  • Bah! The guy in line was being a douche...

seriously HUGE lines for a phone? This country is doomed...

  • he should be fired the guy is an ass

  • No need to apologize it was funny!!! The idiot needs to say sorry to Spellman for acting like such an ass. The only person who looks bad is the guy who stood in line for a stupid phone, what a jerk!!

  • There is no need for an apology, The guy in line who started crying needs a hug.

  • I don't think you should have to apologize for anything. I thought it was hilarious and people just need a better sense of humor

  • PEOPLE, just get over it!!! It was funny. No matter how you look at it. The fact that Spillman is putting himself out there should be given some credit. GREAT JOB, SPILLMAN!!! Love all the great reporting and keep up the good work.

Would love to see more of them. Always watching from 5 to 9. Thanks guys.

  • It was funny because the guy realizes he was a loser and couldn't take it so he backlashed him

  • Fuck KTLA! The anchors have acted even worse.

    Are they next to apologize?

Their whole aim was to get a laugh at the people waiting in line. People wait in line all the time. Are we all morons for standing in line for something we want?

  • it sounded like a dare. so i thought it was funny ahaha.

  • Eric Spillman is the PERFECT correspondent for today's TV news outlets, particularly KTLA's.

    'nuff said.

  • Eric Spillman has just become the poster child for everything that's wrong with television "news."

  • pfft. Spillman obviously didn't agree with his assignment and was trying to get himself demoted to writing copy.

Spillman was doing his best to be a jackass and the guy with the glasses called him on it.

I wouldn't think an apology was needed, Spillman just needs to grow up if he wants to be taken seriously.

  • I didn't think it was very funny.. If your humor is soooo far off the mark, perhaps you're in the wrong line of work? If you want to truly know how to poke fun at nerds, watch triumph the insult comic dog at the star wars convention. That's how it's done.

  • It wasn't that bad what he said but it's good that he apologised.

BTW I'm from Ireland & I saw the clip so that's people from another country who saw it.

  • The guy's body language did indicate that he was interested in answering Spillman's questions, HOWEVER, there's no way the guy knew that Spillman was going to be asking offensive pedantic questions.

  • 1s't comment, and i thought it was funny.
