  • jasmine oil is the best!!!

  • Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your comments. Sorry it's taken me this long to reply, not that I didn't care to comment, but, I just realized I had not visited this page in forever. :) I trim the girl's hair every 5-6 weeks and usually, I'll trim about 1/4 inch or so, sometimes more. Right now, I'm only using pure coconut oil, nothing else and only shampooing with a homemade shampoo with half coconut oil and half castile soap. It keeps the hair moisurized

  • @redfootwalking and I'm finding that in the summer, I'm washing their hair quite often. I try to only wash when needed due to perspiration or when their hair is too oily or build-up. I usually sniff the scalp, if it's clean, still smells "sweet", I leave it alone, if it no longer smells like sweetness, it's time to shampoo, so, usually 3-4 days or less depending on what they've been doing.

  • aawwww.... so cute!! ^_^

  • Hello There! I would like to know if u trim ur daughters ends,if so, how often? Ur daughters are gorgeous! Could you also provide the name of the yellow bottle of oil that you displayed, for some reason I could not read the name clearly. Thanks in advance!

  • hi I forgot to ask do you squezze out excess out water putting in leave in conditioner?

  • @cherri7 Hi there!!

I usually will squezze a bit and just wrap a towel around it for about 10 minutes to grb all the dripping water, then, proceed to adding the leave in conditioner...I love to use beach towels for hair washing day. LOL :)

  • @redfootwalking thanks for tip=)

  • @FloraFire lol...Nina is a great name, isn't it!! :)) haha :)

  • @MsKinkydiva thank you!

  • I love your videos! My hair is a little bit like your oldest girl's hair, but looser curled, and my hair is dry and frizzy like your younger girl's hair.

  • @thebeautifulcoils thank you very much! I'm glad you found my videos! Sounds like your hair would be a lot of fun to take care of. :) Thanks again for watching!

  • @redfootwalking I'm glad too! Aww thank you!

  • I love your videos! My hair is a little bit like your oldest girl's hair, but looser curled, and my hair is dry and frizzy like your younger girl's hair.

  • Could I use coconut oil as a heat protector if I am flat ironing my hair?? I know that certain oils provide heat protection. Is a straightening spray necessary if I have coconut oil in my hair?

  • @vivecarocks Hi there vivecarocks, I would not recommend the coconut oil as a heat protector for flat ironing unless you're using the lowest possible setting on the flat iron. Coconut oil is fabulous, but, will start to heat very quickly and start smoking. I would use a very, very small amount of Chi or Rusk hair products...only because a hair stylist friend of mine swears by it for flat ironing. :) take care and thanks for watching our video!

  • Could I use coconut oil as a heat protector if I am flat ironing my hair?? I know that certain oils provide heat protection. Is a straightening spray necessary if I have coconut oil in my hair?

  • @mixdshawty009 :) hehe...thanks. their hair is very much like daddy...not much like mine... :) haha I was a bit surprised it would be that way since mine is quite coarse, soft, yet coarse and fluffy. lol

  • I love they hair

  • Do you know of any hair growth products for children's hair. I also have a daughter????

  • I left you a comment before but it must not have posted. I love the way you take care of your children's hair with no chemicals. nicely done!

Also I was trying to find the first song. I looked up Bhangra's hits but there are so many, do you know the name of the song even if it's not in english? thank you.

  • @goldpurse Hello goldpurse, sorry for taking so long to reply. I have been literally coming home so late from school stuff for the girls that when I get home, I'm making dinner and putting them to bed. :) I will try to find the exact CD ...I realized later that there are way too many to count. :)

  • Redfootwalking, it's nice to see a mommy taking care of her babies hair with no heat and no chemicals. Nice job.

I love the first song and saw in your earlier comments you said it was Bhangra Hits #2. I've looked for it online and there are SO many releases. Do you know the name of the song is even it's spells it in punjabi or what year that album was released?

    Thank you

  • Nice video. quick question...my neice is bi-racial (black and white). she has long, bone straight hair. while her hair does not have much texture...it still gets rather dry. what type of products should i use on her hair. Are essential oils ok...or will that weigh down the hair?

  • @AfroPufChic hi, I would use a little coconut oil just after shampooing...then, just comb through well and air dry...that would be fine, but, no more than just the amount you rub into the palm of your hand...otherwise, you'll have sticky hair. :) thanks so much for coming to my video!!

  • How often do you wash the hair? On the days you do not wash the hair - what is done with the hair for bed?

  • by the way jasmine oil is the best oout all the ones i tried your hair feels stronger and it grows faster i always buy it!!! and when you washit out it leaves a light jasmine fragrance and i get complimented on the smell too sometimes!

  • Your kids have beautiful hair. Do you relax their hair? It doesn't look like it. I am curious on how to care for my oldest daughter's hair. She is all black and her hair is thick and kinky. Like mine. I just did the "BC" on my hair and she has had a texturizer and loves to swim. She has incurred some breakage this summer because of the chemicals in the pools, but how can I repair her hair and grow it naturally now? I need help 911!!

  • Hello tanlady115,

thank you for your comment and for watching our video! I don't do anything to either of the girl's hair except wash, air dry, and plait or braid...I have a cousin with hair as you describe of your oldest daughter; her mother follows the same routine as I do for my girls and her hair is very soft and healthy. The length is probably past the shoulders and longer if it were straigthened. I can say that chlorine is very rought on hair (as we know)...here is what I suggest...

  • before playing in the pool, I will saturate the ends of the hair in ultra swim; it's a conditioner made especially to protect hair from chlorine...when I am out of it, I use coconut oil; I'll oil hair well and plait in at least two parts; as soon as they're out of the water, I shampoo hair in ultra swim shampoo and condition with their conditioner and the results are great. If you cannot find ultraswim, that's okay, just heavily condition hair and sit for 5-10 minutes and rinse well. :0)

  • they have pretty hair

  • :0) thank you! :)

  • love the mix too!!!

  • so rediculous ive watched many black hair videos and they had hair like this im black and my hair is like this and trust me thats black hair its just the music that makes you say it isnt black hair it clearly is! id definetly isnt asian or white hair!!

  • You took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you! Not all black people have this kind of hair, but you have to be black to have this kind of hair. I love nappy hair, but Nina's girls have beautiful black hair, too!

  • this is not black hair.

  • Hello there 2008Versions, thanks for watching our video. I appreciate your comment also.

You have a valid point, the typical texture of someone black is usually more tightly coiled and kinky in texture. Honestly, I hope not to misrepresent anything. My ethnicity is very diverse and my girls even more so from their father. Their hair is not tightly coiled and kinky, however, it's not bone straight as my great grandpa on my mom's side (Chinese). I hope this video helps everyone though. :0)hugs!

  • Thanks for the vids, Nina. You do a great job of taking care of your daughters' hair. I like your hair, too. :)

  • Respect, 2008Versions, but Nina never said it was black hair. I say it IS. Folks don't have hair like this unless they're mixed w/ black. My hair's not like this, but i know black ppl who do. If you're black, i'm sure you have members of your family w/ similar hair. Anyway whatever, Nina this video for ppl w/ similar hair. If you can't use it, then you can't. No big deal.

  • I meant to say:

Anyway whatever, Nina MADE this video for ppl w/ similar hair. If you can't use it, then you can't. No big deal.

  • If you are going to cut your daughter's hair, I am ready to buy them. I am a hairdresser-hairstylist and also a wig maker looking for long hair. I accept all the hair any kind of it even curly or frizzy and any color even grey or white. If any interested contact me before to cut it for more details and know how to proceed.

  • what r they mixed wit?

  • beautiful hair:)

  • hey i tried adding you to my buddy list but i had such a hard time...my scrren name is thepurestsilk..add me when u have time..thnx!

  • Hi there!!!

sure!!! Thanks for watching our video!! I'm "redfootwalking" here and on My Space. U r welcome!!! :0) Nina

  • Nina,

Your little ladies are gorgeous. Little Millicent reminds me of my youngest DD. LOL! Thank you for sharing this vid. I will definitely be remixing my youngest DDs hair regimen. BTW..did you pre-poo with Jasmine oil?

(Rofl @ Lil John in the music mix)

  • Hello Essensual1, Thanks so much for watching our video!! :0) I did pre-poo with Jasmine oil that day...I usually do a olive oil or coconut oil. I love the Jasmine scent; it's gorgeous! :0) Thank you so much!! Our girls love this music mix...they will drop whatever they're doing to dance!! :) hehehe

  • Wow! they are so beautiful! and the hair is lovely!!!!

  • :0) Thank you! :)

  • Thank you for watching our video!!

  • Hi there,

I really enjoyed watching your video!! Thanks for the great tips. Can the scalp massage also help those whose hair is thinning?? I've noticed that my hair isn't as full as it used to be and I get stressed when i think about it...any suggestions?

  • Hello there priya929, thanks for watching our video!

Scalp massage is wonderful in treatment for thinning hair. It stimulates the scalp intensively therefore encouraging dormant hair follicles to "wake up" in cases where most women have mild to moderate hair thinning issues. Stress has such a horrid effect on hair. Another thing that's great is eating sesame seeds...eat a handful every morning. They are packed with calcium & magnesium...that promotes hair growth.

    :0) thanks!!! Nina

  • So cute!

  • :0) Thank you! :0)

  • what do you use to put in your childrens hair to make it grow?

  • Hi there and thank you so much for watching my video! I use coconut oil and have used other oils as well for massaging their scalps and I avoid heated styling appliances, and...I love using many herbal hair oils I purchase at Indian/Pakistani grocery stores. The items which I've purchased there are usually packed with herbs. My eldest daughter had very fine, bits of hair forever when she was a baby. We didn't think she'd ever grow hair. :) I began at 18 months massaging her head and by Kinder...

  • ...garten, her hair was half way down her back when it was half curly, not straight. So, I decided to do the same thing for our other daughter who had a head full of thick, straight hair, it was thick already, but, I felt a massage would benefit her hair anyway.

  • I also trim the ends every 4-6 weeks. I don't cut more than an inch; just enough to rid any split ends and keep it looking nice.

thanks so much for watching my video!!

  • well i am 15 and my hair goes passed my shoulders and i would like to try this cocanu oil stuff it is just i dont think any of those stores are near where i live. and plus my mom wouldnt take me anywhere out of where we live or order anything online. you think you know any place else i can get them? like KingsBeauty?

  • brown and black people have such beautiful hair..

  • My daughter is multi-racial with VERY dry hair, plus she has a tendency to pull it out when nervous. Any t\ips to get it looking shiny and well conditioned? I think I've tried about all the products out there.

  • Hello DebiGriff101, I am so thankful that you watched my video and sent me a message...yes, I know totally what you are dealing with, I like to massage the scalp with coconut oil, the edible type and if I don't have that on hand, I use olive oil...you don't have to use the extra virgin.

use this prior to shampoo, using it daily at the crown and working it through the hair with a soft brush, fingers or boar's hair brush. Only shampoo as needed...not 2 often; this encourages the hair to be dry.

  • Use this oil as you are finished shampooing also, when the hair is towel dry. I usually use Redken and Joico hair shampoo and conditioners becuz of the PH balance.

  • black or red dot indian?

  • Hi, I am sorry, but I do not understand exactly what it is that you're asking, I appreciate that you watched my video.

  • your kids have real good hair naturally

  • :0) thank you :0)

  • Loved the vid you and your children are beautiful! Thanks for the oil tips I plan to try them! cool music!

  • Thank you very much, I really appreciate you watching our video and the kind words as well!!

  • both your children could model. the oldest one in the last picture walked straight out of an H&M campaign. let the model!

  • Thanks! I'll really think about it. :0)

Thanks for watching our video!! :0) I'll talk to you later! Nina

  • Can you give me some braid tips? I don't know how to do them. When my baby fro grows out, I'd like to put braids in. Your children have such pretty hair. Thank you for the jasmine oil tip.

  • Hi! Thanks for watching my video! I like using a little coconut oil as I braid. It seems to keep down the stray hairs. When the hair is taken down, the hair is in very nice condition, not dry. I also like to "seal" the ends of the hair with a little bit of oil; coconut oil, for instance. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing back from you. :0) Nina

  • Hi, Do you know where I can find Organic Indian hemp oil??

  • Hello! Thanks for watching my video! I will look into that and send you a message. :0) Hemp oil is awesome!

  • Hello, I meant to ask you what conditioner did you wash Michaela hair with in the video? Also I have been using Parachute Coco oil in my baby hair, I love it. When should I start using the Jasmine oil?

  • Hi there! sorry for the delay in my reply :P, I used a Redken conditioner on that day, I believe. I like using it and sometimes I use Joico.

Try using the Jasmine oil when your baby is at least 2 years old. I waited about that long for my girls. It smells so nice and I love the sheen it gives. :0) thanks for watching my video. I look forward to hearing from you again! :0)

  • hiya Nina just wondering if you have ever had a jasmine oil with the ingredients were changed my old bottle says cottonseed oil and the new one said Mineral oil and patrolium strange did they change the ingrdients or did i just get a fake dabur oil

  • You know, I think they have changed ingredients...I looked at my old bottles, I usually purchase several bottles at one time. It's been a while since I've had to buy more. Mine say cottonseed oil. I will look into my local Indo/Pak store and see what they now have on hand.

I don't want to fly all the way to Mumbai to get the real stuff. LOL (that would actually be fun; wanna join me?)

Thanks for informing me. Have you ever tried the Parachute Coconut oil? It's in a blue plastic bottle?

  • The Coconut oil may become my new main hair oil or choice since the ingredients are changing on that Jasmine hair oil. I will keep you all posted. :) Nina

  • hellow i was wondering if jasmin oil or almond oil will help my hair grow or if you know of any indian hair products that will help my hair gow faster and softer thanx

  • Hi there!! Thank you for watching my video! I think the amla hair oil along with Parachute (brand) coconut oil are great choices. I have seen great results on my children's hair and I think it's kept my hair softer and easier to manage. If you'd like to contact me w/any more questions, please feel free. Thank you so much for watching my video!! :0) Nina

  • hello i was wondering if jasmine oil helps the hair row or if you would recomend any product that will help my hair grow faster or softer thanx

  • Hello! Jasmine oil is good, but, it's mostly for "dressing" the hair; like adding fragrance and sheen. It helps with hair growth, but, ultimately, I would feel coconut oil, amla and olive oil are great about promoting hair growth. They are perfect for helping keep hair soft also. The coconut oil I like a lot if "Parachute" brand, it's found in your Indian grocer, or, you can get a plain coconut cooking oil that is fine also.

  • What's the first song called??

  • Hi, I cannot fully translate the song. It's from the Bhangra Hits album 2...I'd have to ask my cousins (who speak and understand a little Punjabi), but, they're not here at the moment. I will try to find the name for you soon. Thank you for watching my video! Nina :0)

  • Thank you for watching my video!

  • Do you use the the same hair care on yourself as you do for your children? Your care for their hair is beyond wise.

    BK ^_^

  • Hello and Good morning!

Yes, I use the same hair care on my hair. My hair is way different texture, but, I still benefit a lot from the hair care routine. :0) Thank you so much for your kind words!! Nina

  • Wonderful video, and beautiful girls!

  • Hi there!! Thank you!!

  • they have amazing hair i wish my hair was

    like that

  • lucky lucky girls

  • Hello there Psalmist1, Thanks for your question. I would say pressing hair would be better choice because you can control the heat and it doesn't require chemicals. Is your daughter tender-headed? My youngest one is (when she doesn't want to sit still) laughing. Have a great day! Thanks so much for watching my video! Nina

  • Thank you! Today is the first day of school and Millicent has made a special request for her hair...she wants curly ribbon tied around her pigtails! Isn't that sweet! :) Michaela just wants her hair in a half up, half down style. That's easy! Thanks for your sweet comments! Take care!! :0) Nina

  • Your kids are beautiful and i love their names. :) I envy their hair, especially the little one--Millicent? They're both absolutely gorgeous, though. :)

  • Thank you! yes, my children are part Indian...they have Indian from my side. :)

  • Great video! Are your kids half indian?

  • Your girls have beautiful hair!!

  • Thank you!! :)

  • Your Welcome!

  • can i use dabur oil on dreadlocs?

  • I think it would be fine; two of my cousins have dreadlocks and they both use this oil on their hair. I notice they use a very small amount though; not as much as I use on my girl's hair. They mostly use on the ends and and just rub a light amount on their hands and through the scalp a bit. Take care! :)

  • Wow your kids have wonderful hair.

  • thanks!

  • Hello Nina,

I have tried few different conditioners pre and post wash with only fair results.

I will have to try Dabur oils.

We do have some coconut oil since my is a massage therapist, besides being an artist.

I should give that a try also.

Thank you! for the inspiration to try new things.

    Jeff

    the

    WBF

  • Hi Jeff!

Coconut oil is excellent!! Thank you for your encouraging words!! :) Have a great day!!!

  • wow.thats the same thing with me and my sisters haie her hair is thicker and mine is finer.thank you for posting this video and sharing you kids hair regimen.

  • Wow!! :) I'm glad you like our video! Thank you!!

  • What ANGELS!!! Gosh that hair must be a lot of work, it's good it's so pretty :)

I love this music. Can you tell me what it is and where I can find more?

  • Thank you!

The name of the album is "Power of Bhangra".

  • Thanks! I apply the Dabur oils to their hair before shampooing and afterwards as I style it. I brush and detangle hair, part hair into 4 sections pour a little oil in my hands and rub directly to the crown of the head and brush well. I then apply more to my hands and coat hair to the ends lightly. When hair is slightly air dry, I add oil in the same way as describe above. Thanks! Feel free to ask more!! :)

  • Hi Nina. Your daughters have lovely hair! I would like to know exactly what you do when you use the Dabur oils. Thanks.

  • Hello Brittany! Thanks for your question. Trim the ends(if you have split ends) be careful to use only pony tail holders that don't have the metal on them. Use a leave-in conditioner after a conditioner is used. That will help a lot. At night, always make at least two plaits or braids; this prevents tangling the next time you comb your hair. And, about brushing, use a nice soft brush and use a light coconut oil when brushing. That is what we do, it seems to be a miracle cure for us!! :) :)

  • hi,(sorry for the long reply) i dont have coconut oil but i do have olive oil, can i use that.how do i exacly use it and can i use it daily? (sorry for so many questions i want my hair to be as healthy as possible) thanks (by the way i have curly hair, and its grown some!)

  • No problem! :) Olive oil is just fine! Start using olive oil right after towel drying freshly washed hair first. Afterwards, in between shampoos, apply a bit to your hands, and rub it directly on the crown and work into hair all the way to the tips. Brush well afterwards and use more as needed. Olive oil is a great choice and your hair will have good sheen and manageability. :0)

  • hi my name is brittany. my hair is very curly but im dealing with breakage to my hair. when i was in 3rd grade my mom stopped doing my hair which was about at my shoulders when it was in a pony tail. my hair has broken so much my hair is now 2 inches away from my neck line when in a pony tail so alot has been broken. what can i do to stop it from breaking? and what do u do when brushing their hair daily?

  • Here is my story. My name is Manali and I have recently come back from a vacation in India and my mother made me cut my hair below my neck. My hair is really wavy and I am in sports...so it is easy to maintain it, but the Indian heat has done polution damage to my hair. And, my birthday is on August 5th so I will be as old as your elder daughter. I also have a 4 year old brother.

Help me with my hair problem! I need to grow my hair as long as your daughters!!!

  • I know just what you are talking aobut. I'm glad to hear you're active in sports. Your birthday is the same day as mine and my daugther shares the same month!! That is so special!!

Brush your hair often and don't be afraid to have your ends trimmed if they ever have split ends.

We are so happy to use Dabur hair oils, that helps my daughters keep long, healthy, shiny hair. The oils protect and strenghten hair.

Thank you so much for your questions!! Aunty Nina

  • Hello.

My name is Manali and I am 9 years old.

Please teach me how to maintain really, really straight, and wavy hair like mine!

  • Hello to you!! Manali, thanks for your question! To maintain your hair and protect it, add a little oil to the hair right before washing and a little afterwards and brush it well all the way through. You hair will smell so lovely and it will stay straight and wavy like...use a nice, mild shampoo. That will make it stay very pretty!! Thanks!!

  • Best advice ever, especially if your kid loves to swim in pools. What you posted is exactly how I took my girls from dry shoulder length hair to moisturized hair that's now mid back length and waist length (when strecthed as they all have curly/wavy hair). I got the tip like the one you give here from a Japanese lady who commented on my girls curls. I use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil...because it does smell heavenly and helps make hair soft after a wash and in between washes.

  • lol i remember the time my mother tried eggs and bananas on my hair :-P took forever to get the bananas out!

oh and care free curl has been used all my life :-) and no you dont need a jerry curl to use it :-)

  • Eggs and bananas! Wow, that sounds like one of my smoothie recipes! :) hehehe, I am sure that was something to remember!

I may have to try that care free curl activator on mine! It's good to know you don't have to have a jerry curl...do you just comb it through damp or dry hair? Tell me how you use it. :) Thanks!!!

  • :-) a smoothie :-D minus the eggs lol

I press my hair a lot these days but I use the spray and the cream when i dont. I think the spray is the moisturizer (good stuff), and the cream is the curl activator :-D... My mother used it on our damp hair right after washing and daily while doing our hair. I now use it when I am going for the natural look and it keeps your hair from drying out :-D. No need to drench your hair either. I even use it on my fathers hair in order to braid/cornrow it.

  • :) Yeah, minus the eggs! lol...

I will try that out! That's so cool! It's funny; I've seen that on the shelf at every store for years and I always just thought you had to have a jerri curl...

Maybe I could try that on my girl's hair and let them wear it down!

Thanks for sharing that with me!! :)

  • yeah :-D I think you're going to love it. it's a bit expensive though... prolly not as expensive as that other stuff you're using.

  • you have gorgeous girls. :)

  • :) Thank you! :)

  • what's the name of the song? love thus video. ;)

  • Thanks! The name of the album is by Gulshan Kumar. Everything else is hard for me to translate because I can't read Punjabi (script). :(

  • Beautiful girls. I love their hair. Nice video.

  • Thank you very much! :)

  • What's the name of the shampoo you use please?

  • Hi, I used Redken products, but, I would say Pantene and Aussie shampoos and conditioners work just as nice and they aren't nearly as pricy. I just used Redken, but, I believe many other shampoos are good. Make sure to find a shampoo that is good for curly, frizzy or wavy hair. That would be a good idea. :)

  • You have another question, it was about the oil...well, that oil is found in just about any Indian/Pakitani grocery store. Just ask where their beauty products are (sometimes they keep them behind the counter). Dabur Hail Oil is something I truly love, you will fall in love with it also. It is best to always oil the scalp prior to washing...that's what alot of ladies/girls in India do and look at how long and lovely their hair is. Almost every woman there has gorgeous hair. :)

  • beautiful girls!

  • how often do u wash their hai alos what do you use to do their hair daily?

  • Hi, Thanks for your question. I usually wash their hair every two days. Sometimes I wash it every other day, but that would be in the summer when their scalp is sweating a lot. On a daily basis, I will brush their hair really good with a boar hair brush to stimulate the scalp and bring out the natural oils. I then add a little Dabur Jasmine hair oil or Parachute coconut oil on the hair. This can be purchased at your local India Grocer. Olive oil is also good. :-) Thanks!!

  • you've got such gorgeous girlies! my hair used to be like theirs when i was young

  • ahhh! Thanks!

  • Wow! I love youtube! Its nice to meet people who are the same as me sooo to say. I love your kids hair. I am part Choctaw too. I live here in Okla.

  • Thank you so much! I'm so excited to hear from you! I really appreciate you comment. I think that's so cool you're from Oklahoma and you're of Choctaw ancestry!! Awesome! :) My Paternal Grandparents were living in Brokenbow and that general area a long long time ago!

  • Choctaw is an American Indian tribe (Oklahoma tribe). My Dad was from a Choctaw tribe; full-blood. My Mom is black and Asian.

I am very proud to be black...

I'm also proud of my Choctaw and Asian ancestry and I love being able to be a part of those cultures. :)

  • thank you so much

  • what kind of shampoo/ conditioner did u use on there hair?

  • Hello! I used Redken shampoo and conditioner (Extreme w/fortifier for distressed hair) on that occasion. I also like Joico products, but, I ran out and didn't have any on hand. Thanks!!

  • wow i love how long your kids hair is. my hair is soo short how do you care for it to keep it healthy from breakage? my hair is so hard to comb out uh! and has no bounce.

  • Thanks! My girls are a little tender headed sometimes, but, this is what I do...I wash their hair every other day or two. I use either Parachute coconut oil or Jasmine hair oil in their hair when I brush it and after I wash it...this is what seems to keep it really shiny and healthy. Neither of them seem to have split ends. I also avoid blowdryers, hot combs and also I plait their hair up and put a scarf on their hair overnight.
