@fran9860 ...... some of it is replay of prerecording (you can tell that ... do you see anyone playing tamborine or trumpet ... or those females voices) ... but some is live. the boys look calm and collected ..... very nice! .....
Kind of amazing that you could have this much creative effort put into the mounting of a live performance that was ultimately lipsynched. Kind of like today's pop in many ways. Not that I don't love ELO 1000x more than today's pop...
Nice song, but this is an awful miming job. Not even close. (Sorry, Jeff.) It's kinda funny that Jeff is pretending to play a 12-string electric here when there's no electric guitar in the song (it's all acoustic). Oh, and said electric isn't even plugged in to an amp. I know a lot of credible bands get forced to mime for TV shows, but this wasn't one of their better efforts, was it? :-P
@ltownguitarplayer1:17 shows the violin and the bow is not touching the strings......now that was a mean camera man......seriously tho this group had a unique approach with adding all those strings to their songs.
@KSitz77 "bow not on string" may be an illusion caused by the extreme thin-ness of the violin's E-string. Keeping the bow in the air would just be too much work. (You see drumsticks hitting drums in mime performances all the time, certainly the stage act doesn't have to maintain silence while miming.) Admittedly, after viewing a couple times, it's stil difficult to tell for sure.
@FinnMove Whoa dude...you've REALLY gotta chill out! I've probably been a Move / ELO / Jeff Lynne fan longer than you've been alive! I think they are a great band and Jeff is brilliant...but you've got to acknowledge that it's pretty funny just how bad at lip synching Jeff is especially considering this is probably the 100th time they had to "perform" this song on some TV show!
Not live... lip sync... but I love Jeff, Kelly and Bev anyway!
