A force play is from the batter becoming the runner and "forcing" a runner from first to second base. Or if first and second are occuppied, "forcing" the runner to second, and "forcing" the runner to third. Thats the definition of a force play. The runner on first was not "forced" to ocuppy second because the "force" was removed by virtue of the batter being out.

@redverter So? It is still a legit triple play, the runner at first is FORCED to go back to first because he is not able to go to second, while the runner at second is forced to go back to second. The ball was caught before it dropped to the ground.
