  • there comes a point where the tuba and the player are one. This is one of those times.

  • And I am proud to be a tuba player

where at least I know I'm cool.

And I won't forget the men who tried

to be as good as me!!!!!!

And I proudly stand up next you

as I take a bow, end scene.

God knows I love this thing!!!!!!

    God bless the tuba player!!!!!

  • more coffee!

  • Damn TUBA!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw these guys live. It was incredible. I was not expecting this when i went to see them.

  • too fast

  • Wow! If I had a tongue like that I wouldn't need aftershave!

  • haha, the lady ouncing around in the lower left corner is kind of annoying. But hey, she's enjoying the music!

  • This man is my hero!

  • You know he's bad ass when he sounds that amazing in this low quality video. HAHA. Watching this group in an amazing concert hall will give you goosebumps. I saw them about year ago and they are all so crisp and clean! I want to see them again!

  • My goal is to be as good as Kennith Amis... I better start working!

  • got dam that tuba play is nice as shit

  • epic!!!!!!

  • hell yeAH!!

  • regardless of whether he is double tonguing or not, you have to admit that takes skill to play.

  • HOLY guacamole! i play tuba and this is SO COOL. i wish i sounded like this. lol.

  • Double tonguing would imply a harder 'tuh-kuh' articulation. He is employing a mixture of a 'doodle-oodle' tonguing and sluring with the valves. Easier to do on vales than on Trombone. Can still use doodle tonguing on bone, but the slide makes it harder to go faster.

  • goes tuba, he`s great!

  • its sad not all tuba players are like him

  • awesome video.

  • they came to our school today! :D it was really cool

  • lol TUBE RAPES "go tuba!"

  • LOL TUBA

  • not double tonguing, just slurring. he may be double tonguing in some parts just for the heck of it, but mostly slurring. btw i r trumpet player :D

  • It mostly certainly is double tonguing.

  • yes, definitely. It is boldly obvious that he isn't slurring.

  • As a tuba player, I can guarantee you the he IS double-tonguing.

  • I am a trumpeter and it is double tonguing.

  • I miss Sam Pilafian

  • that was absolutely ridiculous. I mean, I knew empire brass was amazing, but that fucking tuba, man!

  • who is the tuba player??

  • Ken Amis. He's ridiculous.

  • "go tuba!" XD so true!

  • WOW AMAZING TUBA!!!!

  • wow!

  • i know it makes me proud to be a tuba

  • ur a tuba?

  • i hope you know i meant tuba "player"

if you did and were bieng an ass stop it it wasn't funny

if you didn't know i apologize for calling you an ass and i mean a tuba player

  • That was incredible

  • I like how cocky Mr. Smedvig is

  • Mr. Amis, Mr. Reese, and Mr. Miller; you are awesome!!

  • I know!!! I cant believe we study with them, they are such BAMF's!

  • rolf smedvig is GOD.

  • Rondo Alla Turka

  • I was at this concert last year. I thought it was pretty amazing that Ken played the concert on an Eflat tuba and circular breathed the entire time. I would definitely see this group again.

  • I was here last year too. I thought it was pretty amazing that Ken played the entire concert on an Eflat tuba and cicular breathed the entire time. I would definitely see this group again.

  • this is not Beethoven, this is Mozart's alla turca. Beethoven has also turkish march. but this is Mozart. you should say longlive Mozart!

  • ALLA TURCA!

  • he is one of many tuba gods! omg i wish i could double tongue clearly

  • Yeah...double tonguing's not hard to do on any brass instrument....RIGHT! If you're doing it wrong, and slowly, maybe. Double tonguing THIS fast, properly and cleanly is EXTREMELY difficult.

  • who ever said that double tounging isnt hard id like to see an english horn play it.

    id love to hear that

  • It's funny to watch the girl's head (bottom left of screen) bobbing side to side with the music.

  • I have their CD and I think that this song is "Rondo alla turca"

  • Yes. Mozart Piano Sonata K331 last movement.

  • Double tonguing isn't hard on any brass instrument

  • true, but those are some pretty tough licks

  • thank you

  • This was at the 2007 MENC All-Eastern conference. I remember this performance. Ken Amis is the man.

  • that tuba is awesome one of the best iv evr heard

  • wow..... GO TUBA....

  • I was at the performance...and it was amazing..minus all the little high school kids who wouldnt shut up!

  • its origin from turkish jenicessary march

  • what does jenicessary mean?

  • Elite corps of the Ottoman Empire's army from the late 14th to the early 19th century.
