Well,  if you want to SERIOUSY learn,

-2 Technics 1200 turntables

-2 Ortofon or Shure scratch cartridges/needles

-1 Vestax 05,06,07 or 08 pro mixer. There are a few other companies that make great scratch mixers though.

-1 ounce of white rhino, white widow, orange kush or skunk

-Lots of practice.

technics for turntables and vestax for mixer. if you're gonna focus on scratching you don't need to get two turntables at once (I started with one) but yes a good mixer and a good turntable. I have a SL-1200MK5 but the MK2 will do the same and for mixer i have a PMC-05PRO VCA. I would recommend this setup for sure :)!

Yes, Qbert always scratches "hamster" style (crossfader reversed). A lot of DJs prefer this since it's easier to bounce the fader quickly with the fingers than the thumb for complex patterns.
