Once Intelligent systems gets Paper Mario 3DS released, they NEED to make an Advance Wars game with all the old characters and themes. Days of Ruin's style is sickening and I miss all my favorite characters.
My favorite was Eagle.
WHAT, I ALREADY ATTACKED?! TOO BAD, LIGHTNING STRIKE!!!
You know, people complain that the first 3 Advance wars games having CO Powers is hard to make a strategy. Honestly, in AW2, I always prepared and kept track of the enemy's CO Power bar. If they managed to use their CO Power or Super CO Power, it had barely any effect because I left them in such poor shape.
There's online head-to-head in this one? I thought it was introduced in Days of Ruin (Which I hate that one, so it'd be really annoying to have to play). If there is only head-to-head in Dual Strike, and tag battles aren't mandatory, I think I may pick this up.
I like this more than Days Of Ruin. The Dual Strikes make the game frustrating but its still a really addictive and fun game. & I think there are more game modes here than in Days of Ruin if i'm not mistaken.
d.o.r buries this game on the co. powers alone. i got soooo sick of - CO POWA!!!!!!!11!!11 aaaaaaand there goes my front line. lol idk in d.o.r its more balanced and it feels u have to work a bit harder for a legit victory
I love advance wars. bought the first one when it came out, never managed to win the last battle yet (I was 11 years old xD) maybe I should try again now after I beat advance wars: dual strike, which I bought in 2005 or 2006 not sure, havnt bet it yet but will no. part 2 I never bought since I didnt want to spent that much of my pocket money on a game that seemed so similar to the first one. dark conflict I got sealed for 7,50€ in a shop that was about to close. havnt played it yet
I bought Advance wars 1 and 2 a long ass time ago haha and i'm tying to follow the story line, does anyone know what the, i guess i could say the sequel is for advance wars 2???????
@Dragonhero1996 Because many Advance Wars fans, including myself, prefer the 3rd installment over the 4th (online capabilities doesn't necessarily make the game better for most of us.)
Duel strike is better by far. It has so much more content. And the two games are very different. I would (and did) buy both but remember that if you play duel strike first that days of ruin won't have nearly as much content and if you play Days of ruin first that Duel strike won't be nearly as grim or have as good graphics. I personally love the happy feel of duel strike over the typical "oh no, war is bad" feel of days of ruin.
I have Days of Ruin (Dark Conflict where I live) and I have to say it is very enjoyable, although I can see from this video it doesn't have nearly as much content. I think I will have to buy Dual Sttrike as it looks possibly more enjoyable, though that would be a very impressive feat! I agree however Fire Emblem is better, it causes you to think a whole lot more and is much more difficult.
Not what I meant with the fire emblem thing.. If you have played the GBA ones and then play the ds one you will hate the ds one even though it is a great game. In comparison it is just that much worse. Same with days of ruin. It has so much less depth and content. I am it is staggerign how large Duel Strike is (main campaign is same length but there are a ton of CO's and hard campaign can be played with any combo of CO's which is amazing). War room was also taken out in Days of ruin.
In regards to FE. You DO realise the DS installment is a remake of the very first FE no? It was originally on the NES, so, clearly it's going to feel lacking in several areas if you compare it to the GBA FE's (which were beyond amazhing, even though SS wasn't as good as the first).
I for one love the DS FE for what it is, yes, it does feel lacking in manny respects, but, considering where it came from, it's understandable.
@Hamhark98 I agree (dual strike) is the better game, I have both, have beaten both, but I missed both the Characters (been a fan of AW since AW 1 on GBA)-Andy is my fav. btw. I also think they changed too much with Days of Ruin in the formula (Co's on map, and not as large of powers), but I do like some things with DoR: Unit Experience, and some of the added air and navy units are a plus!
-J.S. Dual Strike is perfection though; as you said.
they're pretty different. DoR is darker, has new COs, slightly different setup, and overall feels like they took advance wars and rebuilt it from the ground up.
dual strike is a bit more classic, with almost identical gameplay to the previous ones (AW2, AW) but with a few more units, few new COs (not very good ones btw) and being able to switch between one co to another during the battle, and multiple battles at once.
They are very different, but yet the same. I recommend getting both.
i have advanced wars 2 and i love it and i still play it and i have advanced wars Days of ruin. Days of ruin is ok but i am almost finished with the campaign but i got stuck at a timed battle. i love building maps and playing them a lot. Should i get Dual Strike too? would i find it too much of the same or does the new vehicles and the unlockables? (i was disappointed by the lack of unlock-ables on Days of Ruin) the game store near me has one in stock and should i get it??
Dual strike is pretty close to gameplay of advance wars 2, except now you can use multiple COs and you can have 2 battles going on at once. Dual strike differs enough from AW2, so I recommend buying it, but it's up to you :)

I dont understand all the hype about Advance Wars. I have played some of the games, but i have never really liked it that much. For me its an slightly above average game.
Yeah, that Jake CO was a little bit annoying. Always wanting to appear as if he was "down wid da kids". When I got to that ice level, I groaned as he piped up, "Oh man, I wish I'd brought my snowboard"
i found days of ruin easyer to pick up, im not really a fan of these type games but decided to try dual strike and found it really complicated a while after that i tryed days of ruin and loved it. alot easyer for people like me
i like dual strike more, because they took out some units in DoR, and they removed the experience star thing. DS has more challenge, and has War Room. DoR is a lot better for people that arent familiar to this genre
I am playing Dual Strike right now. I love it. I also have Days of Ruin, which I haven't played yet. If I were you, I'd get Dual Strike, play through the campaign and then buy Days of Ruin. Dual Strike is long enough that Days of Ruin should be cheaper after you finish it. Then again, maybe you'll be better at Dual Strike than I am.
I have a gameboy advance i wanted advance wars 1 & 2. Now I Watched this vid i want a DS and the First game Im buyind is totaly advance Wars Dual Strike!!!

Advance Wars: Dual Strike doesn't have wi-fi, it came out around two months prior to Nintendo launching their wi-fi capabilities.
Days Of Ruin/Dark Conflict, the latest AW game, does have wi-fi. Though it radically changed the game in many, many ways.
